Inzamam speaking to the media

Players come and go but there are some players whose absence will always be felt; Misbah and Younis are such players

There was no pressure on Younis to retire and after playing cricket for so long, he deserves the right to make his own decisions

If scores in domestic was only criteria for selection then there would be no reason to have selectors

Those players who are centrally contracted but not in current squad are still under consideration for future series

We don't have allrounders like Razzaq and Azhar Mahmood who can accelerate scoring in last few overs

There is no pressure on Sarfraz due to presence of Kamran Akmal in terms of wicket keeping

As PCB Chairman has indicated we will have a big farewell ceremony for both Misbah and Younis on their return

Salman Butt remains on our list of players who can be selected

Is this the general policy of PCB to come to media and comment on every speculation ????

This. If only certain posters realised this when advocating the return of Kamran and how it absolutely had to happen. Interesting no one campaigned like that for Fawad Alam who is and was a far far better batsman and broke all kinds of domestic records..... but couldn't hit sixes.

Why is there always a comment about Butt in ever Inzi conference? Either he really wants to select him or there is some serious media lobbying for Butt's selection, questioning Inzi about it every time.

since when have you known any Pakistani to keep their mouths shut.. be it politicians, cricketers or a kid from galli mohalla

aInzi obliges when asked and I must say has a lot of patience when dealing with people

To be fair I like this strategy of trolling Butt.

Raise his hopes up by saying "he's still in contention" in public, then dash those hopes by ignoring him in the squad yet again.

Serves the fixer ringleader right.

Clear indication why Fawad Alam is never selected, basically Inzi is telling Alam, since you can't hit big sixes, you will not be a part of the side regardless of your domestic performances

Don't you think it is a good thing? I think it should be a standard procedure or a gag order. One of the two.

The Media LOVES to speculate and blame X, Y, and Z. That is how they get eyeballs (you included).

This way the speculation doesn't grow arms or legs.

Not sure what the issue is here. Inzi asked a question and he is replying. We by culture are a curious bunch of people so we cannot apply same set of rules for media interaction as in the West.

I wish there was some pressure on YK and Misbah to retire, we won;t have to suffer for that long in that case.

It was understood that Younis had no pressure from anyone to retire and his exit after WI tour was totally unexpected.

Almost sounds too good to be true. To quote Batman, he went out a hero with people wishing he could have stayed, instead of playing on with a worsening performance and seeing himself become a villain.

9 Test matches
24 First Innings wickets @ 31.50
3 Second Innings wickets @ 123.00

First Innings strike rate 50.40
Second Innings strike rate 206.00

That's completely unacceptable for a Test bowler.

To some extent i agree with you.. but at the end these clarifications fulfil the purpose of speculations and media houses get more news and more masala
