How so? There is a reason why the country is named Hindustan. They can choose to make as extreme hindu laws as they wish just like Pakistan has its own religious laws. If people want, I could write down a whole list of personal freedoms which are banned in Pakistan solely due to Islam yet cause no one any harm. If Pakistan can have such laws and regulations, then why can't India?

The denomination "Hindustan" only refers to the fact Hinduism is the majority religion just like many other countries have a majority religion and India officially is a secular country unlike Pakistan although the reality on the ground can seem quite different at times.

Pakistan laws are based on Islamic texts and it is clear that the laws are derived from Islam. India portrays itself as a secular state so then why would they have religious laws pertaining to Hindus? As you say, they can't have it both ways.

I didn't actually know that India was officially a secular country. I always thought that the left wing from India was simply stating being secular to gain more popularity. In this case, having religious laws is simply pathetic from India.
