Just a bit of fun and don't feel offended if you have some or all of these things in your house :)

Those huge metal suitcases which weigh a tonne even when empty
Those tissue box holders with the fancy patterned designs
The hukka in the middle of the sitting room so everyone trips over it

Add more........

The Danish cookie metal box which has the sewing supplies in it.

Paper Napkins from McDonalds/Tacobell/BurgerKing etc on the Dining Table.

Giant pictures of Grand Parents hanging in the living room.

Steel Utensils (for Coffee and Tea).

Roti Belan.

Haldi stains on the kitchen walls.

The old bar of soap forged into the new one

Jars from nutella and other things to keep chutney in

Styrofoam packs that fastfood comes in, and yogurt boxes washed and saved to have something to give parosis food in.
As weird as the brown life is, I love it:misbah

Shampoo bottles with water mixed with a little bit of shampoo in them.

As mentioned above, yogurt tubs and other containers with food/spices in them.

Things have changed now but growing up I used to be fasinated when visiting other Desi homes ..

Plastic fruits in a bowl.

Plastic flowers in the living room window.

The plastic runner on the carpet showing a path to walk on.

Colour photos of the favourite politician on the wall.

Those stools with the fancy woven top.

My wife does that :)) We have jars of nutella with garam masala inside it

Gold plated cups & plates in the front room cupboard

[Reused] Walls ice cream tubs in the freezer, opened with excitement only to find frozen aloo gosht inside :mv

In Cape Town almost every Desi home
has a brass plate from India hanging on their walls, mainly the Taj Mahal

Honestly 99% of things mentioned in this thread are not in my home ... roti belan is the only thing I know we have at home for obvious reasons.

Those velvet pouches they keep to store gold. So pointless, it is almost as if they are making life easier for thieves.

Old glass jars of milo, boost, bournvita ,maltova filled with dal, beans.
Stupid plastic boxes with random powders.
Entrance door with evil eye stuff, randomly old god oriented calendara.

We used to keep our cash in burlap sacks with dollar signs. Also to make life easier for thieves. Its the polite thing to do, one should never inconvenience anyone.

Anybody else had that big orange or blue water cooler that was filled with ice and boiled (and then cooled to room temperature) water in their kitchens. This water cooler was the source of drinking water for all the residents for the day.

Yea, but the button didn't work so we poked a hole in the cooler. Then uncovered the hole to make leak for the dispensing needs. Desis are the best at jugaarr.

Nimbu Mirch hanging on the main gate.

Big steel glasses.

Dinner sets which are only taken out when guests visits them.

Funny thing is people will relate to every comment in this thread. It doesn't matter whether you are an indian or a pakistani. :inti

The Danish cookie metal box which has the sewing supplies in it.

I've always wondered why specifically is it the metal Danish biscuits box.

Why that specifically lol? Why not a walls ice cream plastic box or some other box. It's not like the shape or the material makes it a good fit for sewing supplies

The infamous- "Jaarroo" (The broom that looks like a girl's ponytail).
Even the likes of: YK, Misbah, Kohli, Sarfraz, etc. bring it out while batting.

Bathroom stuff like slippers or the machine that sprays water to clean private parts. These objects are also used in other Asian countries such as Japan or Arabia.

That's very fancy, a simple mug (or mugga if you prefer) is enough :)

Original boxes of all electronics ever purchased stored in the garage, just incase we decide to sell them one day.

Stupid plastic boxes with random powders.
Entrance door with evil eye stuff, randomly old god oriented calendara.

Had no idea that was common in India too! My Nani (Late) used to hang those things everywhere and now its become a habit of mine too!

I try not to do the same, although even if i do the same I don't tell my parents about it :P

I hate those things.Hawa kam humidity zada ho jati h.

Yeah! It increases humidity If not placed properly. It is better to install it in window. It works best when the whole structure is open to atmosphere just like outdoor unit of Air Conditioner except in monsoon days. It is also much cheaper alternative.
