"This is a team which really doesn't want to play on easy conditions" : Sanjay Bangar

He means as a team.

Not a dig at anyone.

I think its a wonderful comment.

This team started playing on turners at home (Mohali 2015) and from there on, started gradually playing on different tracks including flatties and seam friendly ones (Kolkata 2016, Dharamshala 2017).

I hope we get tough pitches (seamer friendly and flatties with bounce) for all 3 tests to prepare for the SA series.

What kind of statement is this? Is it after today's play? If yes then please explain how are we challenging ourselves? Did we deliberately lose 3 wkts for just 17 runs to challenge ourselves? Or did we order a doctored pitch?

There's nothing wrong with the comment. India can easily produce a flat pitch or a turner and take out Sri Lanka in 3 days. It is better to use it as an opportunity to play on other types of pitches.

The pitches in South Africa probably won't be seamer friendly.

Before the series or after it is fine. End of Day 1 is not a good thing to say!

you are 17/3 and you are telling people that this is all part of some big plan?

Nope. You misunderstood MeninG bhai.

He ain't saying 17/3 is all ok cos we expected it....but saying we are willing to play in such pitches to get good at them and we are prepared to struggle in it if that's what it takes to get good in them.

I understand what he's trying to say and it's good that the Indian players want to be challenged in different conditions.

Think what other possibilities can be there.

The curator did what he felt like, or they ordered a green pitch, and found it tough to play on. Whether by accident or design, this is a good preparation for south africa tour. What kind of pitch you would have preferred?

am sure intentions are noble but just the timing is not right

Timing is wrong but the comments aren't as ridiculous as you think.

I can tell you that if it were a Pakistan player or Mickey saying this, we would be at his throat by now....

We might have. So?

wait but why? he just means that the team is willing to play in tough conditions, instead of piling up the wins in easy and familiar conditions. Quite apt, nothing wrong with it

He wants to be faced with such conditions so the team can improve in the field of battle and it's only Lanka anyway, people will forget about them destroying the Indian top order in a couple of weeks; the main thing is getting some nice practice sessions in before the big tours ahead

I see nothing wrong with the comments. He's saying they don't mind playing in difficult conditions and relish the challenge. Good attitude.

I don't see him implying they doctored it. Just that if they are faced with difficult pitches, they love the opportunity.

Even if they doctor, nothing wrong. Everyone does it.

What a test match.

At least they did not play pyjama cricket for last few days!

5 down so good practice this.

and still nearly pulled off a victory. Give them a full 5 days play, ad we would have still won.

tbh, this is the only way India should play. We have shown that we are the best team in spin conditions. Now we need to improve on our game abroad.
