"This is about Pakistan cricket, the damage has been done to all due to today's events" : Wasim Khan

Unfortunately the foreign players are not comfortable with our health system, period. In Toronto or in any city in US there are hospitals with modern facilities and best medicine available to them so in case if a players gets sick enough to require hospitalization they are not overly worried about it. That's is why NBA, Football/Soccer leagues in the Western countries continue to play even if few players are affected by Covid.

I don't blame the international players as I would hate to visit a hospital in Pakistan on my semi annual trips.

We at times say Pakistan don't have facilities. Yes, public hospitals suck, but you can find everything in private sector here. I am sure franchises don't send their players to public hospitals here. Lets agree with that.

I think Pakistan is about $20 billion dollars investment away from being able to host foreigners at a decent standard. Not asking for the world here just a bit of hygiene and order. 2040 when this happens would be my best guess.

Just waiting for PCB to announce that the committee investigating the PSL fiasco will consist of Intikhab Alam, Haroon Rasheed and Wasim Bari.

At the end of day it is his job and he has failed, he should resign

LAHORE: In an attempt to control the damage after the postponement of the HBL Pakistan Super League due to Covid-19 cases detected during the Karachi leg of the event amid reported breaches of SOPs, the management committee of PSL on Friday recommended windows of May-June and September to hold the remaining 20 matches of the league.

The PCB was forced on Thursday to indefinitely postpone the PSL 6 midway after seven Covid-19 positive cases among players and officials of the league were reported during the Karachi leg of the event that started on Feb 20 at the National Stadium. After the end of the matches in Karachi on March 7, the Lahore leg of the league was scheduled to start on March 10.

The emergence of the virus cases raised health safety fears among the players, particularly foreign players, and crew of the broadcasters. In order to avoid any further mess, the PCB decided to postpone it.

It is learnt that realising the blunder had been committed by the PCB by taking the responsibility of implementing the Covid-19 SOPs through its own medical team, the committee suggested outsourcing this job to an expert firm, which would independently plan and execute it with full responsibility.

Moreover, the meeting chaired by PCB chief executive Wasim Khan, also recommended three windows available during May-June and September this year for holding the remaining 20 matches of PSL 6.

The PCB, it is estimated, will need around 17 to 20 days to organise the remaining games of the league — 12 days for the matches and remaining days for the quarantine period.

It is also suggested that the matches will be staged only in one city, keeping in view the weather of the host city. For this purpose, any city among three major cricket centres of the country — Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi — can be considered.

The management committee’s suggestions will be forwarded to PCB chairman Ehsan Mani and then a meeting with the franchises will be held to give the plan final shape.

Meanwhile, the committee hoped that no legal issues with the broadcasters or sponsors will arise in case of an immediate announcement of fresh dates for the remaining PSL 6 games.

I'm sure there are.

Not sure how many of them are 'clean' though.

In addition you have the VIP culture that others have mentioned, where once these owners are brought in, they think they are the main attraction and can do whatever they want. I'm sure that will continue unless PCB clamp down on it.

If corporates are out there to join PSL franchise group then it's good time for PCB to take some strict action on atleast one bully franchise and set an example. PCB needs to be BAD once so others can behave GOOD.
Pakistan cricket has already suffered a lot due to other's mistakes ( I blame intelligence and security for SL team attack ) and now this. Pak cricket is in rebuilding phase and can't afford any setbacks.

So it seems that the franchises did not like being blamed AT ALL!

Possibly these comments from Wasim in the presser did not go down well:

"This isn't about a blame game or to say who's to blame, we have to remember that this was a collective effort and we all had a responsibility to police and self-police that environment"

"Unfortunately we weren't able to do that effectively enough and hence we find ourselves in that position"

The Franchises are clearly responsible and need to man up and accept responsibility and ownership

Agreed.

Did Lahore Qalandars not play a COVID-19 Positive Haris Rauf?

Did Islamabad United not let Fawad Ahmed have breakfast with the team when it was obvious that he demonstrated symptoms?

Did these teams think twice about interacting with celebrities?

Franchises were equally as incompetent. They don't have the right to be angry at the PCB. They deserve all the hate and criticism coming their way.

Covid is not going away anytime soon, PCB must learn to manage their stakeholders better. If they are unmanageable then expose them. For a country like Pakistan it will have to get to Brazil level covid levels for them to take this disease seriously. Its already penetrating this supposed bubble with ease. More waves are coming

I think they will need to appoint security guards and Covid officers outside the rooms of each and every player, official.

Another meeting planned tomorrow I believe between the PCB and the franchise owners.

I'm hearing that Mani is playing the role of mediator between Wasim Khan and the franchise owners.

PCB want to go to South Africa on the dates that have been agreed. It all depends on how much pressure is put on PCB by the franchises.

CSA have other tours planned, so I guess they will want PCB to stick to the planned tour dates.

Finally he is doing something constructive. Looking tough i have to say but Pakistan won't really care about national duties since they'll feel we can't qualify for the test championship now.

Send a second string team to SA, Zimbabwe you can have a semi strong team sent as most of those players aren't playing PSL.

They should hold out until there is a vaccination drive. What if it spreads in the bubble again? Not worth the risk.

Lol it's good to know that WK is not scared to tell the Franchises that this whole debacle was their fault

There should be no psl for another two years , hopefully by then the covid will have gone for good.

The way things have went, it seems to be a wise suggestion. PSL cant afford to have another disaster as the COVID 19 is here to stay for a couple of years. Also the way PCB and team owners have went about the things at PSL makes no sense to organise it in haste. But rest assured that wont happen as PCB will bow down to the owners as already they want SA tour to be rescheduled and PSL to go ahead in MARCH.

The PCB and the 6 franchises have unanimously agreed to aim to reschedule the remaining 20 Pakistan Super League 6 matches in June 2021 in Karachi.
