India has refused to collect the Asia Cup Trophy from Mohsin Naqvi

He’s the ACC Chairman, of course it’s his office. Nobody thinks he owns the building like it’s real estate.

No chairman goes, Let’s meet in the ICC Chairman’s office. They say, my office, because, shockingly, that’s how language works.

But trust you to turn a simple sentence into a personality flex. You somehow always find a way to make the most normal point feel like you’ve just unlocked the secrets of the universe.

You are truly a special case, at least @Rajdeep pretend to be one when he is cornered, you just are 24/7.

Almost forgot to mention, no country does pettiness quite like India. It’s practically a national specialty.

There’s this constant need to appear as the most significant country on Earth, even if it means becoming a slave to their own narrative.

They end up doing things so absurd, even they can’t defend them, unless they’re in a whatsapp group echo chamber.

South Africa legend cricketer AB de Villiers had his say on the trophy incident after the Asia Cup final. Here is what he said on his YouTube channel.

“Team India sort of weren’t happy with who was handing out the trophy. I don’t feel that belongs in sport. Politics should stay aside. Sport is one thing and it should be celebrated for what it is. Quite sad to see that, but hopefully they will sort things out in the future. It does put the sport, the players, the sportsmen, the cricketers in a very tough position, and that’s what I hate to see. It was quite awkward there at the end,”

“Let’s focus on what’s most important (the cricket itself). India are looking really, really strong. Building up to that big T20 World Cup. Remember, it’s not too far away. And they look like they’ve got a lot of talent and they play the big moments well. So fantastic (to watch),”

My Pak friend sendsme this link which has Tanveer Ahmad moaning bricks about the toss, why the indian captain always tosses the coin and picks it up - obviously the fact that india has lost a record number of tosses in England was lost on such worthies...

and als how the match ref - Richie Richardson was not available immediately after the finals and went away to wherever he went....

all of which was responsible for the indian win in this tournament...

The other regular ilm ke explosions - Nasseem Rajput - what a guy...!- of whom i was unaware before the Champions Trophy and who had several nuggets of absolute gold during the CT, also did not failed to disappoint with the whole india fixed the tournament, the umpires, the climate, El nina....et all...this dude has an absolute gluttony appetite for describing reams and reams agony along with this other bespectacled gent on the same show with the blue background....

AB is entitled to his opinion. However, sports has never been seperated from politics nor it will ever be. This is actually quite ironic as his own country was banned during Apardheid era for over 2 decades.

This is not a big issue for us TBH. We won the tournament undefeated and that is our trophy. So not much fussed about it. However, we are just amazed at the hypocrisy and shamelesness of Naqvi. He is the same guy who was acting like a 5 rupee twitter troll during the tournaments taking potshots at Indian team. Then when same Indian team refused to take the trophy from him, he ran away with both medals and trophy.

Also, LOL at AB Devilliers is saying politics should not be dragged in sports when Naqvi is literally the interior minister of Pakistan.

Truth is except India and Pakistan no gives a crap about their issues, it's a nuisance to the entire cricketing world. World isn't seeing anything you are not USA or Russia, this isn't Olympics.

I don't think India expects the rest of the world to care about these issues. Pakistan does, hence why they whine about it at the UN.
 
whats the update? india managed to get trophy back yet? if they still Havant got it back its such a humiliation for India. all that bragging they have control and they run things etc.. and yet cant get their trophy back :D

Anyway Wait for November when he will be suspended from ACC chairman Post.

A source close to Mohsin Naqvi told PTI:

"As of today, the trophy is still in ACC offices in Dubai with clear instructions from Naqvi that it should not be moved or handed over to anyone without his approval and in-person presence,"

Naqvi has given clear instructions that only he will hand over the trophy in person (whenever that happens) to the Indian team or BCCI."

Does he really trust the ACC staff? Most of them will be Indians.

He should've taken it with him to Pakistan. He can get some photographs with it.

Trophy belongs to India. There is no argument on that.

All that happens now is BCCI send in a representative to collect it from the President of the ACC.

His position in the Pakistan Govt was well known at the time he was made president with the acquiescence of BCCI.

I'm not sure the BCCI particularly wants it now. It's only value was in the hour or so after the match for photographs, celebrations and stuff. If it's to display in the cabinet, they can wait a year or so to have it couriered over by the next president. Why have a fuss?

politicians on both sides of the border will try to milk the issue for as long as possible to divert the attention from domestic issues

My opinion on this matter has been clear. PCB clearly won at the presentation ceremony. It was one sided, ICT tried to be clever with this but Mohsin Naqvi played UNO reverse card to deny ICT the opportunity to have their moments and photographs with the trophy.

Indian fans, BCCI officials and Indian media were made to feel deprived, leading to frustrations.

For the first time in decades, PCB has made BCCI look small, helpless, stupid and weak. It’s been quite unbelievable and at one point I genuinely felt the BCCI let him do that to make an issue out of it later but the more I think of it the more I feel that’s just me trying to trick my mind. Mohsin Naqvi actually did it, he took the trophy right under BCCI’s nose and denied them the celebrations and there’s nothing they could do about it.

The only thing that sucks for Pakistan in all this is that their team lost all its matches to India which mattered the most. This would have looked a lot better had Pakistan won at least 1 of 3 matches.

This drama is still going on?? Seriously, these people have smaller brains than toddlers. And I'm not just talking about Naqvi. The Indians who are entertaining this nonsense by making threats of having him removed from the ICC board are in the same boat.
 
According to a report by PTI, the BCCI is likely to raise the matter formally at the next ICC meeting, with a proposal to seek Naqvi’s censure or removal as an ICC Director. The board believes Naqvi acted outside his authority by withholding the trophy and refusing to allow its transfer to the official hosts of the tournament.

A source told PTI, “It remains to be seen what will be the long term ramifications for the PCB or Naqvi because the BCCI is clear he (Naqvi) didn’t have any right to insist on handing the trophy himself to the Indian team and refusing to send it to the BCCI who were official hosts of the event.”
