What's new

TikToker Ayesha Akram decided to withdraw her complaint on Monday in the Minar-e-Pakistan harassment case [Post Updated #154]

This is nonsense. On the contrary Islam teaches to marry early, it's against sexualistion of women, nude movies, prostitution etc.

The most cases of sexual abuse/assualt are in countries such as India(majority Hindu), USA. These nations also have the most cases of child abuse, India alone has over 1 million children forced into prostritution. Not to mention Epstein, Prince Andrew and other famous people in the west accused of being abusers.

Of course there are evil beasts in Muslim nations, they are everywhere. The differenece is Pakistan will hang rapists, while UK they will be out in a few years free to roam again.

I know what Islam teaches and yes there are beats in every society and every religion.
However, from own experiences and from those who I know well, there is clearly a problem with sexual assault, rape in places such as Iran and Pakistan and of course the world has seen what has happened in Afghanistan and to their women.

I'm not talking about a normal police officer or some depraved man in the west, it's more about how these people breach religion and feel taking a young girl is their right. If you speak to young Iranian women they will tell you what the religious police there is all about.

This is an issue with their culture. You cannot criticise a belief system, an ideology or a way of life based on what people do. You have to disect it & prove from the texts, it contributes to such disgusting crimes.

Lets just take 2 of the most visited cities in the world.

Dubai - A woman can walk at night at 1am, will be safe, 99.999% of the time.

New York -3 women recently attacked in a space of 1 hour in a popular park.

I'm not disagreeing with you, I just think I'm not making my point clear enough...
There are situations where the poor people are taken advantage of by people purporting to be religious.
These people need to be protected me those taking advantage need to be castrated

There are charlatans who trick people into believing all sorts. The blame is on the likes of Al-Azhar in Egpyt not to educate the youth of such crimes, explaining to them it will not only get you hanged in Pakistan, they will be punished strongly after death.

The world isnt getting better, its getting worse, more such crimes will be carried out. Harsh punishments are needed unlike Andrew sitting in a palace sipping earl grey. If the UK public cannot get angry over their Prince being an alleged nonse, there isnt much hope for such victims. But we cannot say the Monarchy contributes to child abuse, even though there are many examples in history until this day.

Just seen a video near Minar on instagram:

A man (husband or brother unclear) with a niqabi on a motorbike, he tries to escape but the niqabi is then groped, grinded against, picked up and groped again.

A niqabi with an abaya

Another video shot from a motorcycle shows three women in riksha being groped and touched while they desperately try to hold them off.

Absolutely pathetic skum.

All on 14th august with cheering men waving our flag

The guy looked younger, almost as if he was her brother. But what was surprising was that the guy driving the bike gave nothing of a reaction to that pervert doing his vile act and the pervert did the act as if no one could stop him. Should have kicked the perv at his balls for doing that but that never came.

And yes, like you said, there's no point in talking about dress of women in the subcontinent as if every woman wears shorts skirts and bikinis in our part of the world. The dressing of women is largely conservative in India and more so in Pakistan, and yet even a niqab wouldn't deter the perverts. I know people will talk about loss of religious values, lack of harsh punishments, etc., but I think it's just lack of education of the society that's at fault here and that's not something that can be eradicated quickly.
[MENTION=491]IMMY69[/MENTION] is also right in saying that conservative societies like our countries have more of these sex crimes due to lack of proper sex education. What our people consider as "vulgarity" that causes sex crimes is probably more in western countries, yet it's hard to see so many western men sexually molesting women in the open in a brash manner because the three letter word is not taboo there.

I think its the shock. The two couples in Islamabad who were abused, shows the guy just in complete shock when being berated and laughed at or pushed at.

People in the videos, and a lot in comments on social media, think just because a woman is out amongst men she is 'asking' for it.

Anyone using the excuse for clothes is being foolish. I myself have known niqabis who were groped multiple times in markets in Lahore. Its disgusting but there it is.

I think I kind of understood your point.

You are saying that predators are everywhere but sometimes, it is easier to use "Islam" as a "weapon" in order to fulfill their fantasies even though Islam in principle is against what they are doing.

You are not saying Islam is promoting it rather its the people who falsely in the name of religion mixed with some weird culture justifies their deeds even though, the religion in itself is not at fault.

Am I getting it right?

Lahore police arrested 10 more suspects in the Minar-i-Pakistan assault case on Saturday, a day after 30 suspects were held in connection with the incident, raising the total number of arrests made in the case so far to 40.

The suspects were presented before judicial magistrate Abbas Rasool Warraich in a local court, which issued directives for them to be taken to jail for identification parades.

The court directed the jail superintendent to complete the identification parades at the earliest.

The investigation officer said the suspects would again be presented before the court after the identification parades so that their physical remand could be sought.

Bail granted
Meanwhile, another suspect emerged in connection with the incident after he filed a petition in a sessions court in Lahore for pre-arrest bail which was subsequently granted.

In the petition, a copy of which is available with Dawn.com, the suspect, Shehroz Saeed, maintained that he had been named in the first-information report (FIR) for harassing a female TikToker and her companions at Lahore's Greater Iqbal Park on Independence Day on the basis of "mala fide intention".

He further claimed in the petition that he had been booked in the case because of an "ulterior motive" to "humiliate and harass".

Saeed further stated that he had not committed the offence he had been accused of and the allegations levelled against him were "totally false, baseless and concocted".

He said he had been booked so that he could be blackmailed in "connivance with the local police".

"The intended arrest of the petitioner is tainted with the male fide [intention] of the local police," he stated.

Moreover, he expressed his willingness to join the case's investigation as and when required by the police, adding that no "incriminating material" was available to connect him to the accusation made against him.

Saeed appeared before additional sessions judge Muhammad Saeed on Saturday with the plea for bail, fearing his arrest.

The judge granted the petitioner pre-arrest bail till September 3 and sought the case record from the police.

The FIR
Lahore police had registered a case against hundreds of unidentified persons, including Saeed, on Tuesday for assaulting and stealing from a female TikToker and her companions at the city's Greater Iqbal Park.

In the FIR registered at the Lorry Adda police station, a copy of which is available with Dawn.com, the complainant stated that she, along with six companions, was filming a video near Minar-i-Pakistan on Independence Day when around 300 to 400 people "attacked" them.

She said that she and her companions made a lot of effort to escape from the crowd. Observing the situation, the park's security guard opened the gate to the enclosure around Minar-i-Pakistan, the FIR quoted her as saying.

"However, the crowd was huge and people were scaling the enclosure and coming towards us. People were pushing and pulling me to the extent that they tore my clothes. Several people tried to help me but the crowd was too huge and they kept throwing me in the air," she said.

She further stated that her companions were also assaulted. During the struggle, her ring and earrings were "forcibly taken", besides a mobile phone of one of her companions, his identity card and Rs15,000 that he had on his person.

"The unidentified persons assaulted us violently," the complainant added.

The FIR was registered under sections 354 A (assault or use of criminal force against woman and stripping her of her clothes), 382 (theft after preparation made for causing death, hurt or restraint in order to commit the theft), 147 (rioting) and 149 (unlawful assembly) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The incident had drawn the authorities attention after videos of the episode went viral and sparked outrage on social media.

Yesterday (Friday), Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzfar had chaired a meeting on the incident, following which the provincial police chief said senior police officers were suspended for negligence and delayed response in dealing with the incident.

Police said raids were carried out in Faisalabad, Kasur and Sheikhupura during which 26 people were arrested, bringing the total number of arrested persons to 92.

A day earlier, Punjab Police had arrested 66 persons over their alleged involvement in molesting and beating a woman at the Minar-e-Pakistan on Independence Day.

Police sources informed Geo News 407 people in total were included in the Minar-e-Pakistan harassment investigation. Besides the 92 arrested, police have released the rest of the ones who were questioned.

Of these, 40 have been sent to jail for identity parade while 30 others are likely to be sent to jail today.

PM Imran Khan takes notice of female Tiktoker's assault
On August 18, Prime Minister Imran Khan had taken notice of the Minar-e-Pakistan incident where a female Tiktoker was assaulted by a mob of hundreds of men.

A close aide of the PM, Sayed Zulfiqar Bukhari tweeted that PM Imran Khan personally spoke to IG Punjab on the manhandling of the woman and the vandalisation of Ranjit Singh’s statute at Lahore Fort.

The Minar-e-Pakistan incident came to light after a video went viral on social media, showing hundreds of men attacking a woman as she sought to record a TikTok video with four of her friends to celebrate Independence Day.

The police registered a case against 400 men for assaulting the woman.

Culprits being identified through videos
Earlier, Punjab government spokesman Fayyazul Hassan Chohan said that the culprits are being identified through video footage.

“The incident of assault on a woman in Greater Iqbal Park is a shameful act which has brought shame to the society,” Fayyaz Chohan said in a statement.

He said that the accused involved in the video are being identified and will be brought to justice.

People are writing too many sentences and going to deep into the problem. People commit any crime when they feel they will get away with it

The general population also has a morality, a sense of right and wrong. Criminals are a small percentage who do not share that morality. Here the question is that the general population seems to want to grope the woman.

Is that any different in India?

Can't say. No different if similar attacks are perpetrated by mobs. I haven't heard of hundreds of men attacking a few women in India. If there are such examples I am sure someone will post.

Something similar does happen in the US. However, US is a very heterogenous society, and such behavior does not happen with most sections.

Within feet of where the attack was happening, “There’s hundreds, hundreds of people standing there – watching, looking, seeing, hearing what’s going on,” McKeithen said.

“And yet our culture and our society and our young people have got to the point where obviously this is acceptable somewhere. I will tell you it is not acceptable in Bay County.”

https://www.cnn.com/2015/04/14/us/florida-panama-city-gang-rape-case/index.html

One should note that in the above case, the woman was not actively resisting as she may have been drugged. If the bystanders saw her resist, they may have come to her rescue.

Do you think the general population in Pakistan are like this? If it was I would be surprised that women ventured out at all, so I would suggest probably not.

I think Pakistan is also heterogenous, but based on community (like in other South Asian countries). Sometimes communities are referred to as castes, and were historically based on occupation.

In the modern US the divisions are due to class and race.

Even more despicable than the incident is the fact that almost everybody is blaming the victim. They say it is a plot to defame Pakistan. Some say she should never have left her house in the first place. This sort of deep-rooted hatred for women is very difficult to get rid of. As we speak, a couple has been shot dead for freewill marriage in Karachi and a disabled girl has been raped.

The general narrative about rape is that women should not leave the house if they want to be safe. Whenever a woman is raped, everybody blames the victim. Very sick and twisted.

Indeed it is. Maybe this is why the Taiban are back in power in Afghanistan, you would never get this happening under their watch.

Journalist Shahzeb Khanzada said if most Pakistani men were not like this, then most of the 400 men would be protecting the women rather than groping her. Not even one man stepped in shows that misogyny is the norm in this country.

I fully agree with the journalist. Just go to any news article about the story and you will see 90% of commentators blaming the victim.

Top Twitter trend in Pakistan last night was # AyeshaExposed.

Ayesha is the girl who was molested at MeP. This is the reasons victims of rape never come forward because they know they will be blamed for getting rape. This is disgusting beyond words.

If half of them were any good, why didn’t they call police? This crime went on for two hours and a half. HOW?

It is not linked with rape! Today, a mullah has raped a girl inside a mosque in Pindi and two men have raped a mother and minor daughter in Lahore. The root cause is zero law and order in the country!

LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to ban the entry of TikTokers and YouTubers to the parks across the province, it emerged Monday.

Only national media will reportedly be allowed to shoot videos in parks.

The development comes after multiple incidents of violence and harassment against women came to light in parks during public holidays in the province.

Content creators are usually seen in public places making videos for their followers.

In one such scenario, a TikToker was groped and assaulted by a mob of around 400 men in Greater Iqbal Park on Independence Day while she was recording a video for her channel. The assault sparked anger across the country.

Sources said that permission to make videos for social media will be conditional on the submission of a script in advance, while security personnel deployed at the parks will monitor Tiktokers and YouTubers.

According to the sources, the Punjab government has also decided to ban entry without family in all major parks while students in school and college uniforms will not be allowed to enter parks either.

The sources said, however, that Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar would give final approval to this ban.

Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari wants men banned from public places

'Single men should not be allowed out without being escorted by sisters, mothers, wives or daughters,' she said

After multiple horrific incidents of women being harassed in public places were reported over the last ten days, celebs and prominent personalities have taken to social media and shared strict measures to be ensured against the culprits.

Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari took to Twitter and addressed yet another incident that needed attention. Calling out the authorities, Bakhtawar shared, "Another harrowing experience - witnessed by police who refused to help despite their ability to call for backup as well as use weapons to disperse the crowd. Trusted to help and instead complicit," She added, "Men should be banned from public spaces. We need more women to safeguard women."

Bakhtawar's stance on banning single men from public spaces was met with reservations by many. Clarifying, she tweeted she stands by her opinion. "I stand by it, she said, adding, "Single men should not be allowed out without being escorted by sisters, mothers, wives or daughters - perhaps then they will think twice before assaulting women."

Bakhtawar concluded with, "With repeated and increasing incidents of assault - no better option."

Actor Alizeh Shah, too, took to social media and shared her stance on the matter. Taking to Instagram, the Ehd-e-Wafa star wrote, "What happened in Lahore is just another example of how unsafe women are in our country. We are not safe inside our homes, not out in the streets. We are neither safe nor free."

Earlier, sharing a video on Independence Day this year, Alizeh had questioned the idea of ‘Yaum-e-Azaadi’ and asked if Pakistani women were really as ‘Azad’ (free) as their male counterparts.

“Who do I wish freedom to? The rapists who are still roaming freely because of whom so many women in Pakistan are not allowed to work, go outside without taking someone with them, or even drive around the highway with their family? Azadi sirf apki nahi, sabki hai (Everyone has the right to freedom).”

I haven't seen the video so don't know what transpired other than what's been written here, but as Napa has described, in the US there was something similar happening and no one stepped in there either. It seems public doesn't really want to know when a crime is taking place in public, I have heard this before.

It does point to a lack of civic responsibility and that would be a massive cultural failing.

Edit its not to prevent rape, Punjab Govt has banned it to stop violence and harrasment. Dont bring Rape into this, rape is another issue and there is a seperate thread on this. Good job Punjab Govt, those Tik Tok live shows and only fans were going out of control :)

Okay. You are saying men cannot control themselves in public. It means men should be locked up in their houses till they learn to behave in public.

If a man cannot control himself, he is a beast and unworthy of being called a human. The same men who say if women wear such skimpy clothes, it will lead to rape. However, the same men dare not touch anybody in UAE, Canada, the UK and Qatar. It is all a matter of strong rule of law.

That's what I am saying about a good but small step. Larger steps are needed but this small step will help small children to not develop into depraved adults.

I love the way you assume what i am saying, bottom line is this Tik Tok episode is badly exposed, there are plenty of men out there, these 400 dont represent all Pakistani men, get your facts right, UAE Canada UK despite having strong rule of law couldnt control rape.
Again this is not the right thread to discuss this, there is a seperate thread on pp for that matter. :afridi

They are a million times better than Pakistan. In Pakistan, 99% of rapes are never reported due to stigma attached to raped women. Every day, at least 20 kids are raped in this country! Very sick and twisted. The crux is that Pakistan has failed its women.

Yes, the episode has been exposed that is why the govt is arresting suspects.

Do a micro and macro and try to focus what you said here.

Let me break into pieces.

First, the micro part.
There are men in CANADA, UK and Qatar who sexually assault, abuse and rape women, and kids and they also kill the innocent.

And there will ALWAYS be a group of men in EVERY COUNTRY in the world that will rape and kill and steal and break the law. Regardless of WHATEVER law you implement, and regardless of whatever country's example you can come up with.

This is called a collective human nature.

And that's why we have laws.

If humans knew that none of them will ever commit a crime, we would need any law - but that's not the case - and hence, we have laws.

And even with law, we can only reduce the ills and this sick side of collective human nature, we will NEVER be able to fully eradicate it.

You say "Canada"... here it goes.

The rate of sexual assault for Canadians age 15 to 24 is 18 times higher than that of Canadians age 55 and older. 82% of all victims of sexual assault under the age of 18 are female, and girls under age 18 report a rate of sexual violence almost five times higher than boys under 18.

Do you want to know the sexual assault statistics against women in UK?
no you don't cuz you already know what's coming

But yeah interestingly enough, when you talk about Qatar and UAE then you are talking about those draconian Sharia Law punishments. Are you asking Sharia Law in Pakistan?

A strong rule of law is a big deterrent. My point is that the general narrative in Pakistan is that men are unable to control themselves when they see women in skimpy clothes but the same men dare not touch a half-naked woman at Jumeirah Beach because they know the law will not spare them.

It is all a matter of having a strong law enforcement. Take Hong Kong for example, we have almost no rapes because everybody knows HK Police will not spare you. It is a common sight in Hong Kong for women to be out clubbing, doing sports or chilling late at night but nobody lays a hand on them.

Compare this with Pakistan, where everybody is dressed modestly but we have at at least 31 cases of rape every day.

Also, we cannot thump our chests and say the West has more rapes. The reason is simple: most sex assault cases are reported and in some countries marital rape is a sexual crime. Compare this with Pakistan, where 99% of rapes are not reported due to concepts of 'izzat' and 'ghairat'.The girl who was forcibly kissed whilst in a rickshaw in Lahore is refusing to file a complaint and testify. We need to understand the social dynamics. We also need to understand the deep-rooted misogyny and patriarchy that exists in our country.

Azhar Mashwani, the Punjab chief minister's focal person for digital media, issued a denial after Geo News reported that the Punjab government had enforced a ban on the entry of TikTokers in the province's parks.

The report said that only state media would be allowed to shoot videos in parks and said that permission to make videos for social media would depend on the submission of a script in advance, while security personnel deployed at the parks will monitor Tiktokers and YouTubers.

"Fake News. No such decision taken so far by government. Currently, TikTok is banned in Pakistan," Mashwani said.

Here are the headlines from the last 2-3 days.

You can find headlines like that in every country, it's not that shocking. Terrible stuff happens.

Where I do agree with you is that the law enforcement is inadequate in Pakistan. Especially considering that it's a country which should know how to do it by now with years of martial law experience.

Serious questions need to be asked why men think they will get away with it if they molest women in public.

Every day, the sexual assaults against women are becoming more and more vile.

Today, a man gang raped his fiancee in Faisalabad. The woman was kidnapped by her fiancee.

Have read such similar cases. I dont understand the logic behind it. The finance will be participating intercourse anyway after marriage. Then why rape?

I dont think a sensible person like you will ever be able to understand the logic behind these barbaric crimes. These beasts seem to be wired differently and I think a highly patriarchal culture contributes a lot to their thinking.

Well first we don't know if the story is true - poster often just throws in random stories with no sources or links so could be just making them up for all we know - but assuming they are true, I guess we could only assume that the perpetrator believes there will be no repercussion. Maybe some folk just believe they can do whatever they like as law and order is non-existent so it is a free for all.

Man gang rapes 15-year old fiancee in Faisalabad

His friends had also gang raped the girl and later they threw her outside her aunt’s residence after one day, police added.

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday said he was "ashamed and pained" by the assault of a female TikToker by hundreds of men near Minar-i-Pakistan earlier this month, citing the lack of proper upbringing as a "very big reason for the destruction we are seeing in society".

In his first public remarks since the August 14 incident that sparked outrage across the country, the premier said the incidents of harassment and the sex crimes that were taking place now were "not a part of our culture or religion".

He made the comments while addressing the Punjab Education Convention 2021 in Lahore.

"When I was growing up, nobody could have thought that acts like this would happen [in Pakistan]. I have been to the entire world; the respect for women I saw while growing up existed in Muslim countries but not in the West. A big reason for the destruction we're seeing is that our children are not being brought up properly," he noted.

The prime minister highlighted the need to train children properly and teach them Seerat-un-Nabi — biographies of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) — since he said children's exposure to things was greater than ever before in human history because of mobile phones.

"It is very necessary to train our children and there is only one way to do that — make them aware of the life of the Prophet [Muhammad]," he said, adding that children should be taught about the qualities that set the Prophet apart, including his honesty and righteousness.

At the outset of his speech, Prime Minister Imran praised the Punjab government for "doing what no other province is doing". He termed the provincial government's work in the education sector "very important", saying education had not been a priority for previous governments.

He strongly criticised the English-medium educational system, saying it was inherited from the British, who built such schools to "create a class in India which is Indian in colour but thinks like us (the British), has our attitudes and through whom we can govern such a big continent".

Talking about his own experience, he recalled that when he graduated from Aitchison College and went to England for further studies, he felt like "I was made an English public-school boy, not a Pakistani. I was distanced from my culture and my religion through that educational system."

The premier said after independence from the British, Pakistan should have turned its focus on correcting the education system and developing a system to "create the nation".

Instead, three different education systems were formed: madressahs, Urdu-medium schools and English-medium schools for a select class, he added.

"The English medium [system] evolved in such a way that there was less emphasis on education and more emphasis on creating desi vilayati (local foreigners). The attitudes and mental slavery of another culture were absorbed."

The English medium system was not changed because politicians believed their children would be "privileged and get status in society" through it. As a result, English medium schools were increased, he added.

"Our fault was that we did not develop a government education system. The private school system made us the slave of another culture," he said while terming the Single National Curriculum a "very big change".

He predicted that a time would come when people would realise that the Single National Curriculum was a "turning point".

The prime minister also criticised the use of English in functions, saying: "An entire function is held in English because of two ambassadors and it is being aired on TV which is being watched by the common man. How big an insult it is to our people who don't know English."

He said 80 per cent of the country's population did not understand English, questioning: "What are you telling them, that you're some low nation?"

He said the people's self-esteem was being "lowered" because of holding functions in English instead of Urdu.

English should not be a "status symbol", the premier stressed.

LAHORE: The identity parade of 141 suspects arrested in the Minar-e-Pakistan harassment case has been postponed on Saturday due to the ill health of the female TikToker.

According to jail sources, the magistrate left the Camp Jail Lahore after he was informed that the victim was unable to come to the prison due to her ill health.

Meanwhile, the families of those arrested in the case staged a protest outside the jail and demanded of the authorities to complete the identification process and release them.

It is pertinent to mention here that the identity parade of the suspects in the harassment case was scheduled to be held today during which the female TikToker was to recognize the suspects who had harassed her on Independence Day.

According to police, the victim of sexual harassment had been called in to identify the suspects involved in the incident which had sparked anger across the country.

The identity parade of 141 suspects arrested in the Greater Iqbal Park harassment case was to take place at Camp Jail Lahore where the TikToker was to identify the suspect in the presence of a magistrate.

After the identification, the suspects were to produce before the court for the physical remand, the sources added.

New date for identity parade
Meanwhile, the magistrate has decided to hold the suspects’ identity parade on September 1st. He directed the jail superintendent make arrangements for the identity parade on the said date.

Earlier, Deputy Inspector General (Investigations) Shariq Jamal had said that they had questioned over 300 people in the case.

Of those, over 100 people were taken into custody for further questioning, the police officer had said, adding that their whereabouts that day were traced using geo-fencing and face matching.

Punjab Police had sent the social media videos of the horrific incident with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for the identification of suspects present at the location.

The incident

In yet another terrifying episode of violence against women, a female TikToker in Lahore's Greater Iqbal Park was assaulted by hundreds of men.

The incident came to light after a video went viral on social media, showing hundreds of men attacking her as she went to the park with four of her friends to celebrate Independence Day.

Police had registered a case against 400 people allegedly involved in the incident.

The victim, along with her friends, was making a TikTok video in the park when hordes of men of all ages climbed a fence and attacked the woman.

The victim had told the police that the men groped her, tore off her clothes, beat her, and tossed her in the air. In addition, they robbed her of Rs15,000, snatched her mobile phone and took off her gold ring and studs.

How is the lady going to identify the culprits in a crowd of 400 where she was literally tossed around and wouldn't have had the opportunity to even properly look at anyone. It doesn't sound practical to me.

The victim identified the men during an identity parade at Lahore's Camp Jail. A total of 160 suspects, in groups of 20, were presented before the victim out of which she recognised six of them.

On the other hand, relatives of the detainees gathered outside the jail and kept protesting there all day, asking police to release those who have not been identified. They maintained that the police had also picked up many innocent men and also demanded action against the victim.

Police said that all six men have been jailed in a separate cell, adding that they would be presented before the court for a physical remand.

Police had also said that they had arrested people by tracing them through geo-fencing and face matching technology.

Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari on Thursday called for placing curbs on the country's youth "to teach them a lesson", holding them responsible for the recent rise in violence against women.

The minister made the remarks during a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Human Rights where the Ministry of Human Rights presented a report on the horrific assault of a young women by a violent mob near Minar-i-Pakistan on Aug 14.

Mazari suggested imposing restrictions on youngsters and said that a certain time slot would be designated for women at parks.

"Why are restrictions being imposed on women?" she questioned, adding that restrictions needed to be placed on men, not women.

"It has been observed that most of the problems are caused by the youth. Curbs should be imposed on them to teach the youth a lesson," she said.

The minister also took exception to Senator Abida Azeem's remarks, who stated that women should not venture out of the house alone. "Such incidents will happen when a women ventures out alone, which should not happen," Azeem said.

Mazari responded by saying: "You can't say that it is the woman's fault. [By that logic] you should also tell men not to leave the house alone."

She said that the Constitution gave equal rights to all citizens. We cannot say that a woman can only leave the house when she is accompanied by a man, the minister said.

The incident
Lahore police had registered a case against hundreds of unidentified persons for assaulting and stealing from a female TikToker and her companions at the city's Greater Iqbal Park. The case had garnered attention on social media, with citizens and activists calling for action against those involved in the incident.

In the report presented to the Senate body, the ministry said that it was monitoring human rights violations in the country.

It noted that the incident had taken place on Independence Day, while Human Rights Minister Dr Shireen Mazari had taken notice on Aug 17 and ensured the registration of a first information report.

It said that those involved in the incident had been arrested and and four special committees had been constituted for further investigation.

The ministry said that 141 people were arrested, and the victim had identified six of them during an identification parade.

The committee also expressed concern over Pakistan's inclusion in the Child Soldiers Prevention Act (CSPA) list by the United States and decided to write a letter to the United Nations and the US in this regard.

"The US has levelled a false allegation against Pakistan," Mazari said, adding that Pakistan rejected such baseless claims. She said that Pakistan was fully implementing the UN charter on child soldiers.

LAHORE: A local court in Lahore Friday ordered the release of 98 suspects —taken into custody for the Minar-e-Pakistan incident probe — after the victim could not identify them during an identity parade.

At the outset of the hearing, the police produced 98 suspected individuals before Judicial Magistrate Hassan Sarfaraz Cheema.

The police informed the court that the suspects had been taken into custody for manhandling TikToker Aisha Akram inside the Greater Iqbal Park (Minar-e-Pakistan) on Independence Day.

“Akram identified only six out of the 104 suspects presented during an identity parade,” maintained the police. At this, the court dismissed the 98 suspects, directing the police to release them.

Meanwhile, the Punjab deputy inspector-general said that the suspects identified by the victim are the fundamental characters involved in the incident.

He said that all the 400 men nominated as suspects in the First Information Report (FIR) are not involved in the case. However, the investigation is underway and other culprits will also be arrested soon, he added.

Yesterday, the Ministry of Human Rights presented a progress report on the case probe before the Senate's Standing Committee on Human Rights.

According to the report, six suspects — who had been identified by Akram during a second identity parade — were later arrested.

A day after Ayesha Akram — the TikToker who was assaulted by dozens of men in Lahore's Greater Iqbal Park on August 14 — accused her companion Amir Sohail alias Rambo of blackmailing her, the suspect on Saturday said that it was him who saved Ayesha's life on the day of the heinous incident.

In her complaint with police, Ayesha had blamed Rambo for the shocking incident. However, Rambo, talking to the media on Saturday despite being in police custody, said that he was the one who saved Ayesha from the mob but now she was putting the entire blame on him.

"Only I know how I took this girl (Ayesha) out of that situation alive and took her home but now Ayesha has nominated me in the case," he added. "This was neither my fault nor Ayesha's."

Rambo said that the plan to go to Greater Iqbal Park was not his but Ayesha's. "She wanted to go [to Minar-e-Pakistan] with someone else but his brother died so I had to go with Ayesha," he added.

On Friday, Ayesha submitted a written statement to DIG Investigation Shariq Jamal in which she alleged that Rambo had made the plan to go to Greater Iqbal Park, adding that Rambo along with his companions had filmed a nude video of her and was blackmailing her for the past three years.

She claimed they have extorted Rs3 million from her. Rambo had filmed her nude videos and would force her to hand over half of her salary to him.

She continued that she was unable to give more money to Rambo so she lodged a police complaint against him.

She further told the police that the visit to Minar-e-Pakistan on the Independence Day was none other but Rambo's idea. She could not resist otherwise he could have made her videos viral.

Acting upon the complaint, the Punjab Police had arrested eight suspects including Rambo.

The DIG Investigation was contacted for comment but he declined.

Police investigators have reportedly found an audio clip of the complainant of the Minar-e-Pakistan mob harassment case and her partner in producing social media content allegedly discussing the possibility of extorting money from the suspects arrested in the case.

According to sources, in the recorded conversation extracted from their phones, Amir Sohail alias Rambo asks TikToker Ayesha Akram about the number of the arrested suspects. She tells him that six people were arrested. Rambo allegedly comments that they cannot demand a lot of money from the arrested as they appear to be poor. Ayesha allegedly replies that they could hardly demand half a million rupees from each of them.

In another leaked audio, Rambo reportedly threatens to share Ayesha’s intimate videos and pictures with all his acquaintances and colleagues. He complains that he was ruined and says that he would ruin the woman too. Ayesha pleads him to desist from committing such an act.

The messages show that Rambo was perturbed over Ayesha allegedly shooting videos with someone else.

A few days earlier, Ayesha, in a statement before investigators, had accused Rambo and his accomplices of blackmailing and extortion. She alleged that he had extorted Rs3 million from her. Rambo had filmed her nude videos and forced her to pay him half her income, she alleged.

She stated that she was unable to pay more money so she had lodged a complaint before the police.

Ayesha also said that visiting the monument on Independence Day was Rambo's plan and she could not resist because she feared that he would make viral her intimate videos. She also held Rambo's accomplices responsible for the harassment. The complainant identified 13 people in her statement and the police have taken into custody eight of them, including Sohail.

However, Rambo pleaded innocence from behind the bars.

While talking to the media, he said that it was him who saved Ayesha's life on the day of the heinous incident. He said that he was the one who saved Ayesha from the mob but now she was putting the entire blame on him.

Even if she is allegedly extorting money from suspects, what happened to her is disgusting and inexcusable.

TikToker Ayesha Akram decided to withdraw her complaint on Monday in the Minar-e-Pakistan harassment case

Ayesha was assaulted by a mob at Greater Iqbal Park in Lahore on August 14, 2021. The incident drew national outrage after videos of the attack went viral on social media, prompting the Prime Minister and Chief Minister of Punjab to take notice and demand swift action.

A case was registered by the Lari Adda Police Station and Punjab Police arrested at least 92 suspects in the case.

However, Ayesha recorded her statement in the Lahore Sessions Court, presenting an affidavit that she would not pursue the case further.

Additional Sessions Judge Gul Abbas presided over the hearing, where Ayesha stated, "I have forgiven all the accused for the sake of Allah and His Messenger’s approval. I have no objection to the acquittal of the accused. I am freely and voluntarily recording my statement without any fear."

Aamir Sohail, also known as Rambo, along with twelve other accused, has filed applications for acquittal. The court has scheduled a hearing for August 26, summoning lawyers to present arguments regarding the acquittal requests and Ayesha's statement.

The harassment incident involving TikToker Ayesha Akram occurred in August 2021, garnering widespread attention after videos went viral on social media. The Prime Minister and Chief Minister of Punjab took notice of the incident.

While former Prime Minister Imran Khan took notice of the harrowing event, social media 'investigators' did some digging and termed it all to be a "publicity stunt."

That was a publicity stunt by her to gain more followers... now target achieved and case closed!

I am just surprised about the immaturity of some people who probably don't have touch with reality.

There's more chance of going through expanses, mental harassment, unwanted attention for years, disappointment to the extent that you stop believing the human judiciary and move on hoping that they will be judged by God.

This is more of a reflection of breaking of human patience to the point they become pessimistic.

All the evidence was against her so she decided to backtrack understandably.

These TIKTOK stars will go to any length to gain more followers and views and this could very well be one of those stunts.

Remeber 1 tiktok star faked her husband's death?

What evidence?

In one hand, you say religious oppression should be stopped but then, sexual assault should be ignored.....

WHat sexual assault are you talking about???

That girl failed to prove any assault. Interview is not enough to prove that she was assaulted. she is nothing going her way.
