1. Root. Ahead of kohli cos he is good everywhere.

2. Kohli

3. Williamson

4. Amla

5. Cook

6. Sangakarra. Still great

7. Smith

8. Warner

9. De Cock

10. De Villiers still.

Any current list should have Smith as the top batsman.

1) Smith
2) Root
3) Faf
4) Amla
5) Kohli
6) Kane
7) Warner
8) de Kock
9) Cook
10) AB

Preference has been given to batsmen who play all three formats, which is why AB and Cook are 9 & 10, while Babar doesn't make it.

Smith followed by Kohli, the rest are a tier below them.

Root is not a bigger match winner than Kohli in any format or Smith in Tests.

Both are more accomplished than Root, even today Root had 3-4 reprieves in his 180.

Kohli
Smith
Williamson
Root
Warner
Azhar
Cook
Du Plessis
Amla
Pujara

Something like that

Can't believe you guys haven't put Azar Ali ahead of Virat Kohli. Do you even know what it means?

Steve Smith
Virat Kohli
Kane Williamson
Joe Root
Quinton de Kock
David Warner
Hashim Amla
AB de Villiers
Azhar Ali
Alistair Cook

All formats considered.

For important matches, Azhar Ali > Kohli. For useless Bi-Laterals, Kohli >Azhar Ali.

Smith at no 1 followed closely by Root at no 2. Rest are too inconsistent to be ranked accurately.

Its Smith, Root and Kohli the top 3 with rest behind them.

Root is ahead of kohli because kohli recently had a poor show in test series vs Aus while Root has still done well in limited formats where kohli is anyways doing well.

Ab de villiers on what basis is being placed in list of top 10 batsmen of now-a-days ? Similarly Faf is too inconsistent to be placed among top 10 across the formats . Most of the lists posted here seem to be based on past reputation rather than current performances. Anyways in my view , smith , root , kohli and Williamson are top 4 in the order.Rest are difficult to categorise . Although kohli gets more limelight because of huge fan base and more media coverage .

Across all international formats.

Steve Smith
Virat Kohli
Joe Root
Kane Williamson
David Warner
Quinton de Kock
Hashim Amla
Tamim Iqbal
Faf du Plessis
Angelo Mathews

Not in any order but:

Virat Kohli
Steve Smith
Kane Williamson
Joe Root
AB De Villiers
Hashim Amla
David Warner
Quinton De Kock
Azhar Ali
Faf Du Plessis

Tamim Guptill and Azam? Lol. I can understand Tamim but not really the other two.

Tamim, Gupthill and Azam don't make the top 20. Never mind top 10.

Out of the 3 - Azam has the POTENTIAL to make the top 10.

Tamim is a good player. Better then Pakistan openers in ODIs. Not as good as Azhar in tests however. And tests is the true test of talent.

The list i compiled is across all formats. Sadly, no Pakistani can be considered in top 10.

The next batch of batsman would be :

Faf
Stokes
Dhawan
Azhar because of his tests

Why Root above Kohli? Until Kohli produces in England, I rate Root higher. Kohli is a wonderful player. But hasn't produced in UK against the swinging ball.

1) Smith
2) Root
3) Faf
4) Amla
5) Kohli
6) Kane
7) Warner
8) de Kock
9) Cook
10) AB

I would have Kohli at no.8 or no.9 personally

My list:

1. Azhar Ali
2. Steven Smith
3. Kane Williamson
4. Hashim Amla
5. Alistair Cook
6. Faf
7. ABDV
8. Joe Root
9. Tamim Iqbal
10. Warner

Honourable mention: Virat Kohli

Hilarious to see Azhar Ali and Tamim Iqbal in some of these lists. Ali is a very good test batsman, mediocre ODI batsman and does not play T20s. Tamim isn't good enough.

Yet you put Alastair Cook who Azhar Ali is currently better than...

1. Kohli

2. Amla

3. Root

4. Williamson

5. Smith

6. De Villier

7. Warner

8. De Cock

9. Pujara

10. B Azam

Amla
Ab devillers
Warner
Quinton De Kock
Kawaja
Azhar
Pujara
Williamson
Root
Smith

1. Kohli

6. Warner
7. Azhar
8. Amla
9. Taylor
10. De Kock

Tamim Guptill and Azam? Lol. I can understand Tamim but not really the other two.

Honestly I had to think a lot for the last 3. Those three names kept on ringing in my ears hence I said my opinion. I agree though there are some others who can make it too.

If it's combined Test & LO, and recent means, may be since last WC Final - it has to be Smith at 1. Rest few spots are debatable between Root, Kohlli, WIlliamson, AB... even Azhar & Pujara should get a mention only for Test.

My top will be

Top - Smith
Then I'll put 3-3-3 bunch (not in order within groups)

2-4 : Will, Kohli, Root
5-7 : AB, Tamim, Amla
8-10: Kok, Warner, Bairstowe

Azhar Ali a better batsman than Cook = LOL

Cook has consistently been in the top 3 opening batters in Tests for the best part of a decade. Class is permanent.

tamim isnt too high???

Last 2 years, he is among few player averaging over 40 in combined 3 formats. May be Kok can replace him from 3rd group, but he should be in top 10.

yah definitely top ten.no doubts,,and yess when i saw decok below him i raised the point.....when u consider all type of conditions then tamim is a very good pick...
