The bill introduces fundamental changes to how the state recognises and protects transgender persons, moving away from the principle of 'self-identification'.

Here are the key changes the bill proposes. The 2019 Act defined a transgender person broadly as someone whose gender does not match the gender assigned at birth. The 2026 amendment removes this broad definition.

The bill notes that over the course of time, during the implementation of transgender protection law, "certain doubts and difficulties have arisen and are likely to arise" regarding the "expanse of the definition" of transgender persons. It now limits the term to specific socio-cultural groups such as 'kinner', 'hijra', 'aravani', and 'jogta', or eunuchs or a person with biological intersex variations or congenital differences.

I get self-identification as a personal right—people should decide their own identity in their circles. But I think it stops there: no one should be forced to agree or use specific pronouns/terms in everyday speech. People should be identified with biological sex by governments. What do folks here think?

It’s problematic. Now it’s just about gender, tomorrow people will say we identify with another nationality and stuff like that. Can’t let that happen.

Had no idea. Didn’t even see a thread here on it- been a few days now.

Inspiration for many to pick up martial arts alongside Jean Claude Van Damme, Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan.

In his final Facebook post shared on 10 March to mark his birthday, Norris said: "I don't age. I level up."

"I'm grateful for another year, good health and the chance to keep doing what I love,"

Great guy !
