Transgender pupils are free to use whichever school changing room

New guidelines which allow transgender pupils to use the same changing rooms and toilets of their choice have been criticised for 'ignoring the rights of girls'.

The draft document from the Equality and Human Right Commission (EHRC) is expected to be introduced in October.

It wants to protect children who meet the legal definition of gender reassignment as well as pupils 'who are simply exploring their gender identity'.

The confidential guidelines seen by The Sunday Times apply to children of all ages in England and Wales regardless of whether they have had medical intervention.

They state that pupils who identify as a different gender should be allowed to use changing rooms of their choice at schools.

Girls uncomfortable with this will then be advised to use a private changing room.

anya Carter, of the campaign group the Safe Schools Alliance, slammed the draft which 'ignores the rights of girls'.

She said: 'The EHRC has not listened to the voices of the concerned parents and teachers who would have to deal with the fallout if these policies are put into practice.'

This is just disgusting in my view. A boy can claim he is transgender and will be allowed into the girls changing rooms.

No protection for the girls at all.

Wow.
This is just something else.

So if I call myself a lizard, will I be one? Lol

There are only 2 genders:

MALE and FEMALE

This is becoming a huge problem in the UK.

Read this.

You have these rights groups advising young children to use treatments on their body.

They also want taxpayers to pay for peoples treatments, hormone injections etc.

It’s a more fluid than that. There are two chromosomal sexes, but gender is more of an analogue scale.

Disgusting.

This is pure degeneracy.

Transgenders are worse than gays. May God help our society.

I have to challenge this. Many would find your transphobia and homophobia disgusting. It isn’t your business how others live their lives.

Was that really necessary? You can disagree with things without calling people degenerates.

I don't agree with replacing toilets with unisex toilets, rather, a unisex toilet should be provided separately. They converted a whole floor of toilets to unisex here in my uni in Auckland, but everyone complained saying it was extremely uncomfortable, so they had to revert it. Now there are a few designated unisex toilets on campus, which is a solution that works far better.

Gender maybe a spectrum but I hope we dont end up at a point where toilets also become a spectrum.

Have to say this is the very definition of a first world problem though.

There's nothing transphobic about disagreeing with Transgenders

The developed countries have nothing else to do so start making up new stuff just coz they're bored

You can't just say you're a boy/girl just coz "you feel like it" lol
That's just delusional

If I identify myself as a cat will I actually be one lol

Ridiculous.

Can’t even openly criticise this before being judged as a homophobe hence a menace to society. So much for freedom of speech!

Disagreeing is fine, but sweep_shot called them degenerates. There is a difference between free speech and hate speech.

There is a difference between disagreeing and hatred and bigotry and name calling shown on this very thread. And you know it

When I see threads like this I then laugh at all claims of religious people being peaceful and loving and accepting. Any such myths are disproven when they come frothing in their mouth to spread hatred

How big an issue is boys pretending to go to women's room? What will they even see in a woman's room which is not open like boys urinals? Come back to me when a single such instance even happens. Many countries (and hotels/bars/public places) have unisex bathroom and not a single problem has happened

So called peaceful and loving people would rather people live and die in misery than try to understand and accept. And their bigotry will give rise to their fantasies about peeping Toms in toilets because their own mind is narrow and perverted

I have to laugh at all such people and pity their narrow minds. May God give them understanding and love for our less fortunate brothers

Not a single such instance has ever happen in countries which accept transgenders to choose bathrooms. NOT ONE SINGLE INCIDENT. The problem with being narrow minded is that you think everyone else is a pervert and build your own fantasies around it

transphobia.. this has become a joke now. infact these people need help they are mentally unwell.

transvestites are born and i am perfectly fine with them. same with homos their choice..

but forcing your kid to take hormone replacement therapy is child abuse and should not be allowed.

if an adult want this they can pay for it themselves.

create a third bathroom. simple as that. there are people that will abuse this. either your too naive or just dumb.

There is a difference between disagreeing and hatred and bigotry and name calling shown on this very thread. And you know it

What I do know is Heterosexuality is being viewed as a forced agenda for the transgender and homosexual community who are now adamant to force it upon the heterosexual community in the name of equality.

This itself is sickening

More and more transgenders in the west are taking the transsexual route, so the safety risks are a bit overblown. Nonetheless, those who want to take extra precautionary measures have the option of using a private bathroom.

You see, I used the word "degeneracy" and not "degenerates". I was not hating anyone; I was condemning the act.

I don't care about what they do privately. But, if they take it in public, it can make people uncomfortable.

Male is male and female is female. You can't change something that is biological and natural.

Apart from the bit about the private girls changing room.

So are they going to have separate private rooms for girls only? Isn't that what they were in the first place?

They state that pupils who identify as a different gender should be allowed to use changing rooms of their choice at schools.

Girls uncomfortable with this will then be advised to use a private changing room.

On school trips, trans pupils will be able to sleep in the same rooms as pupils of their preferred gender and they will also cannot be excluded from the single-sex sports of their choice.

Girls will have to use private rooms but there are never enough private rooms. See also they will be allowed to sleep in the same room as girls.

In simple terms, a boy claims to be a girl and will be allowed the opportunity to see girls with little or no clothes. No medical confirmation is not needed, just his views on what type of sex he/she is.

How many private bathrooms do you think there are available for schoolgirls? Why can't the transgender pupils use a private one assuming there are plenty available ( which I doubt).

There should be separate restrooms for Transgender men and women to cool off all the religious nuts.

May be throw in a few lesbian and gay restrooms too to restore sanity.

Another Indian bringing religion into this. You guys need to stop watching RSS videos.

Tanya Carter, of the campaign group the Safe Schools Alliance

Are you saying this lady is a religous nutter and so are all of the other groups which aim to protect children?

Clouds deter radar logic :modi :rss :iamanindian

Would be good if India could demonstrate that the country is not filled with religious nuts by taking the lead on this. I don't see why it always has to be the west leading the way.

Calling people disgusting and degenerate is itself a disgusting degenerate act. It is the same as racism.

Criticise behaviour, not what people are.

So homosexuality is natural, as is anything else that occurs in nature.

Chromosomes are chromosomes, but gender is not digital.

Stop saying “people” when you mean you personally are uncomfortable.

India needs to first concentrate on building toilets irrespective of gender. Then they can think about segregated bathrooms based on gender affiliation or lack of it.

Precisely. Maybe concentrate on building a few toilets first and worry less about religious nuts in other countries.

Let’s tease this out a bit.

In the U.K. a trans person must be declared to have gender dysphoria by doctors before declaring legally the gender of choice. So a cis-male boy would have to have that diagnosis and be legally declared a trans-girl before being allowed into the girls changing room.

Not sure if this is the case as it's not mentioned. What if the Doctor disagrees but the child still feels its a different sex?

Are they teaching masturbation? What are self-touching lessons?

Quite messed up and disturbing.

They are calling it 'self-stimulation' Here

A teaching manual issued as part of the programme instructs children aged six to ten about “the rules of self-stimulation".

The Touching Myself section advises to tell the youngsters that “lots of people like to tickle or stroke themselves as it might feel nice", including touching their “private parts".

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/sex-education-lessons-uk-schools-20144000

If you have kids in UK schools ,please be careful!

In our school they are not allowed to use the changing rooms of boys and girls, they are given a separate room.

Am glad Daily mail is a reliable source now, hopefully we can quote in future from it without it being questioned.

The old era were largely homophobic, so it's surprising for you to come up with this when you're part of the old era hype brigade.

This is what I have been saying to cricketjoshila

Everyone on this forum has done it, lets not pretend we're all so sharif that we would never touch our private parts.

You are correct. However, teaching this in school is absurd. Don't you think?

Children should learn about science, art, mathematics etc. Not "self-touching".

Try the mirror link I posted or perhaps use google and find many other sources but you will still believe this is all lie.

It's a very difficult issue, there are genuine cases, some genuinely confused kids and in the tiny number of cases, some kids do it because it's in the news.

Fair enough but to me it seems like a whole agenda behind this. The link I posted today is beyond belief. Schools should concentrate on maths, english, science etc not on teaching morals or forcing children to adhere to what they think society should be like.

I do agree teaching it is forced sexualisation of the youth..

Sex Ed in school is more about ticking boxes. The reality is that children as young as 10 or 11 are watching extreme pornography and the genie is out of the bag and has been since the Internet age. We have gone from the innocent age where one of class fellows asked us if girls also had testicles to boys and girls discussing fav sexual positions in class with other kids. Studies are already showing the destructive effect on children and thats only going to get worse.

What the hell?

Eww, this is so disgusting on many levels.

They are messing around with innocent souls.

Interesting the chap who came up with this idea Jonny Hunt, bought it from Holland. Surely this isnot the case there?

Not at all.

Heck, they don’t even teach Sex Education in primary schools.

It all comes during Biology lessons in the secondary school.

But let me clear they don’t teach ‘self-stimulation’ and other kind of stuff.

Thanks bro.

My personal view is, there are people in high positions or power in the UK who are peodophiles and they are pushing this agenda.

Sometimes if you sit down a moment to think about what is happening in the whole world, you actually realize the World is getting effed up.

Hate, war-mongering and such filth are becoming the norm...

Pushing it too far. My question is how does a pupil know whether he/she is a transgender or not? I thought people realise it when they grow up?

There’s an organised attempt to mainstream this LGBTQ thing. Social media is filled with their posters and slogans. It really is a very toxic environment and definitely not something a kid should be exposed to. Politicians are scared to say anything against it because they’ll lose the liberal votes.
Nobody is denying their rights and most people are willing to accept them as normal people but this kinda crap is unacceptable.

Actually second half of the thread is about Schools teaching kids to Self stimulate themselves which is worrisome compared to LBGQT.

Shouldn’t worry about that. It’s something they usually figure out by themselves anyway :D.

It starts from toddler stage on sub conscious level. So not much of a worry. It's a natural process after all.

I had sex education in primary school way back in the seventies. Difference between boys and girls, where babies come from. I remember some diagrams and footage of a pregnant cat.

By grammar school I was left to figure it out by myself and got some very odd ideas about girls.

Many “Liberals” are just as scared. The trans issue can be highly polarising. There is an ideological war between some in the trans lobby and some in the feminist lobby. One is reluctant to comment is case one is called either transphobic or misogynist.

While I do not agree with Transgenders using whichever school changing rooms, it is pathetic to call transgenders degenerates and other names.

If someone wants to be a Transgender, it is his/her choice. They are not forcing anyone to be one.

This is a tricky one TBH .At one end you wanna protect the rights of the LGBTQ minority , on teh other hand straight people have rights too . Maybe a unisex bathrooms would be a better idea solution ?

Jury awards $4 million to Missouri transgender student

The jury found the school district had discriminated against the student by refusing to let him use boys' restrooms or locker rooms.

A Kansas City-area school district must pay a transgender student $4 million after it refused to let him use the boys’ restrooms or locker rooms, a Jackson County jury decided.

The jury on Monday found the Blue Springs school district had discriminated against the student, NBC affiliate KSHB-TV reported.

The school district said in a statement that it disagreed with the verdict and would be “seeking appropriate relief from the trial court and court of appeals if necessary.”

he student had legally changed his name in 2010 and amended his birth certificate to reflect his new name and gender in 2014, according to the lawsuit. He filed the lawsuit in 2015.

Although the state recognized him as a boy, the district denied the student access to the boys’ restrooms and locker rooms at Delta Woods Middle School and the Freshman Center, the lawsuit said.

The student participated in boy’s physical education and athletics in middle schools but was required to use a single person bathroom outside the boys’ locker room, according to court documents.

He did not participate in fall sports at the Freshman Center because he could not use the boys’ locker room or restrooms.

Another feather in the cap of moral western liberalism.

'He' is not a male, she is a female. To be awarded $4 million, which this person is very unlikely to earn in their lifetime is absurd.

You are right Brother, it's utterly ludicrous to award a young boy - or girl, since apparently he identifies as a he, even though no operation appears to have taken place - such a massive sum of money.

It's not really about liberalism or any lofty ideal, it's about population control and depopulation - as are the entire abortion-on-demand and LGBTQ+ agendas.

Yes I read in the US you can order abortion pills to be delivered through your front door!

I think we will see a huge increase in such cases. Children are being brainwashed into believing they can choose any gender they wish. By choosing it will make them the gender they want.

What is interesting is the rights of the other schoolkids are not being considered. Boys should have a right not to share a bathroom or toilets with a person with female organs but it seems they have no choice.

In the UK gender neutral toilets are being considered for schools.

$4 million…for being refused to enter a opposite genders toilet?

I think it’s time for me to join LGBTQ+…the easiest route to getting an RS3.

It's a jury decision so we must assume the jury represents the public. I hope the people of Missouri are at peace with their school paying $4m to a single student who wanted to use a boy's rest room. If the school is running on a budget, they will have to cut costs somewhere to pay for that.

Can’t agree with that Jadz. If our government wanted depopulation they would stop immigration, and create policy instruments such as fines for a third child by a given mother, like China did for a while.

Gay men aren’t going to produce kids anyway. Though two of them they could provide loving homes for adopted kids.

What does concern me however is that youngsters are being offered puberty blockers before their brains have fully developed. I heard of a young girl who became a trans man and later bitterly regrets the decision, as she realised later that she was a lesbian - and due to surgery cannot now bear her own child.

Hear hear.

I weep to see some of the ignorance, bigotry and flat-out wickedness on this thread. It just shows that religion is more about oppression and coercion than kindness.

I haven’t done a survey but I’m pretty certain that most parents world wide would be uncomfortable to put it mildly knowing a transgender woman (originally (probably biologically still) a dude) is using the same changing room as their young daughter.

Yet teaching children in school that homosexuality and what not is ok before their brains have fully developed is acceptable?

This is what happens when society thinks it’s ok to normalise abnormality in schools.

I’m actually 25, because I feel young and alive. Time to change my passport and driving license!

Changing gender to be made easier in Scotland

Scotland has approved a self-identification system for people who want to change their legal gender.

The new rules lower the age that people can apply for a gender recognition certificate (GRC) to 16, and removes the need for a medical diagnosis of gender dysphoria.

It's the only nation in the UK to simplify the process of transitioning.

But the Westminster government says it has concerns about the legislation and could yet prevent it from becoming law.

The Scottish Parliament backed the controversial proposals by 86 to 39 in a vote on Thursday afternoon.

There were shouts of "shame on you" from protesters in the public gallery as the result was announced.

But there were also louds cheers and a standing ovation in the chamber from supporters of the reforms.

The UK government says it has concerns about the legislation and could seek to prevent it becoming law by blocking Royal Assent.

However, a Scottish government spokesman said "any attempt by the UK government to undermine the democratic will of the Scottish Parliament will be vigorously contested".

People in Scotland have been able to change their legal gender from male to female or female to male since 2005.

The Scottish government believes the existing process can be intrusive and distressing and put people off applying for a Gender Recognition Certificate.

The new rules, which are expected to come into force sometime next year, will mean applicants will now only need to have lived in their acquired gender for three months - or six months if they are aged 16 and 17 - rather than two years.

There will be also be a three-month "reflection period" during which they can change their minds and it will be a criminal offence to make a false declaration or false application for a GRC, with anyone who does so potentially facing up to two years in prison.

It will be possible to de-transition by going through the process again.

Campaigners say a move to make trans peoples' lives easier is long overdue, and will allow them to "live with the dignity and recognition that everyone deserves."

Scottish Trans manager Vic Valentine said the change in the law would mean that trans men and women would be able to show a birth certificate "that reflects who they are" at important moments in their lives such as starting a job or giving notice to be married.

But critics including author JK Rowling have raised concerns about the potential impact on women-only services, spaces and legal protections.

They have argued that there are insufficient safeguards to protect women and girls from predatory men who they say could seek to change their gender in order to gain access to facilities such as women's prisons.

Speaking ahead of the vote, Social Justice Secretary Shona Robison said: "Trans rights are not in competition with women's rights, and as so often before, we can improve things for everyone when those discriminated against act as allies, not opponents."

And First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said she would "never apologise for trying to spread equality, not reduce it, in our country."

The UK government has not ruled out mounting a legal challenge, with Scottish Secretary Alister Jack saying it "shares the concerns that many people have regarding certain aspects of this Bill, and in particular the safety issues for women and children".

The government is understood to be concerned about the potential impact of people with gender recognition certificates moving from Scotland to other parts of the UK, where a different system will still be in place, and on things like passports, pensions and some benefits.

Under UK law, it can apply to have Scottish laws struck down by arguing they would conflict with UK-wide equalities legislation. This power has never been used before.

Efforts by some MSPs to keep the minimum age at 18 were voted down, as was an attempt by Conservative MSP Russell Findlay to prevent convicted sex offenders being allowed to change their gender.

The reforms were backed by most SNP, Labour, Liberal Democrat and Green MSPs but opposed by the majority of Conservatives, who accused the government of attempting to avoid proper scrutiny of the legislation by rushing it through before Christmas.

Nine SNP MSPs voted against the government - the biggest rebellion since the party came to power in 2007.

Scottish Conservative equalities spokeswoman Rachael Hamilton said the party supported trans rights - but it should not come "at the expense of the safety of women and girls, and their hard-won rights".

She added: "For a majority of MSPs to vote against an amendment that would have prevented convicted sex offenders from applying for a Gender Recognition Certificate will astonish and outrage most Scots."

The Bill, which was previously shelved by the government, has been been one of the most controversial pieces of legislation in the history of the Scottish Parliament, with Community Safety Minister Ash Regan resigning in October after saying she could not support the proposals.

Speaking after the vote, Ms Regan told BBC Scotland she was "ashamed" of what the parliament had done.

MSPs considered more than 150 proposed amendments to the proposals in two marathon sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday - with the latter not finishing until 01:15 on Thursday.

The Conservatives were accused of attempting to delay the legislation by proposing numerous points of order and forcing almost all amendments to votes that were sometimes not required.

Nine other European countries have already adopted self-declaration systems for legal gender recognition, including Ireland, Denmark, Norway, Portugal and Switzerland.

Also on Thursday, Spain passed a bill bringing it a step closer to allowing people to change their officially registered gender by filling in a form.
