The test cricket world can be roughly divided into 2 halves based on conditions, Asia and SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia). These 2 conditions are more or less polar opposites and demand radically different skills for batsmen, bowlers and keepers to succeed. Let us focus on a few batsmen here, I won't name them, just present their stats, SENA ones for Asian players (eg Sachin's record in SENA countries) and Asian ones for SENA players (eg Ponting's SC+UAE record). Try to guess who is who. Many cricket experts on PP, shouldn't be a problem :smith.

We can then expand on that and draw some conclusions about how players are rated and whether there is any bias while judging them.

Hints: 4 Asian players and 4 SENA players here, no country specific quota, as in all 4 can be from the same country. They are all recent players, not involving old timers like :wg:don:hanif or even the generation of :viv:jm. While some are categorized as HTBs/national shame others are either flawless or in a couple of cases hailed as masters of the other type of conditions.

Including Bangladesh in Asian conditions even though they were easy pickings till as recent as 4-5 years back. If I remove them from the filter things will get really ugly for some SENA 'greats' and 'ATGs'. In contrast all 4 SENA teams always had challenging bowling attacks in their conditions, no easy prey for our desi boys :inti.

D: 30 matches

HS 193

F: 30 matches

G: 23 matches

H: 20 matches

Guess the names, hopefully without using cricinfo, cricbuzz or some other tool :). I'll wait for maybe a day and then post the answers. Perhaps we will get some food for thought.

I didn't got the (- *) part.. plz explain again.

That is just the difference between overall test average and average in those away/neutral venues.
Say for instance Sachin has career 54 average and average of 52 in SENA I would write 52-54=-2 in the brackets. Or if Ponting has overall 52 average and average of 43 in Asia it would read (-9). It indicates a deficit in average compared to career average and hence the minus sign.

In the previous post I mentioned away/neutral. Neutral is for tests in UAE, don't think ICC records them as home tests for Pakistan. Someone like Ponting played in Pakistan (1998) as well as UAE (2002). Likewise for Kallis and a few more players I am sure.
