Pranav Dhanawade, the 1000-run wonderkid from Kalyan, has run into trouble with police. The 16-yearold boy got into an argument with the locals and law-enforcing agencies over timing of the practice at the Subhash Maidan and encroachment into a make-shift helipad built there.
According to sources, Dhanwadwade went near the temporary helipad that was built at the ground to facilitate the landing of a dignitary on Sunday. It led to a commotion resulting which the police had to take the player and his father to the Bazarpet Police Station.
Already complaints were registered by senior citizens of the area after one of them was hit by a ball recently. The police and clubs of the region were discussing the timing of practice, so that the senior citizens, who come to the ground in the evenings for walk, are not affected.
“We’ve only one ground and 15 clubs. The senior citizens can come and walk on the ground after the practice is over but there are problems on the matter. Today (Saturday), they suddenly built a helipad on the ground and it seemed to have resulted in some arguments,” said a source.
