Rudd's father died on Monday and May still sent her to do the debate instead of coming to Cambridge herself. What a terrible human being.

That's wickedness.
Amazing that Rudd held up so well. She should be on compassionate leave.
Am sceptical about the accuracy of such polls, do have immense faith in them s28?
So why are they going to lose? The media doubted Corbyn and they sneered that his shadow cabinet were rubbish because the Blairite trash refused to serve... people like Barry Gardiner, Sarah Champion, Angela Rayner, John McDonnell have shown repeatedly they are first rate people (oh and of course Robert's little fave Keir Starmer )

Kier?I get worried when you call MPs who have served the Labour movement for decades "trash". It's a tendency on the hard left to do this and I wonder if they really have people's interests at heart when they use such language. It seems to me as though ideas are more important than people to them. When that happens, people tend to get hurt.
173 MPs are all Blairites?
Yes, I rate Sir Kier highly.
Don't assume too much about Amber Rudd's relationship with her late dad. After all, this is a person who married AA Gill (who has also only recently died).
Don't expect the polls to change much now. In a fair world May would now slip, but the reality is that the Daily Mail, Daily Express and Daily Telegraph are now spreading the Fake News that this was a loony left audience, as if that changes the cowardice of the PM sending Rudd as her proxy.
The press will now hammer Corbyn relentlessly for the final week.
I expect roughly:
Conservatives 335 seats 43%
Labour 255 seats 35%
Liberal Democrats 12 seats 15%
SNP 51 seats
That's a working majority of 22.
Can you imagine clueless David Davis negotiating anything? On a serious note, I'm not convinced by Starmer at this point.
He is the Shadow Minister for Exiting the EU.
But he seems to be happy to adopt the moral high ground (eg with EU residents in the U.K.) while Barnier and Juncker negotiate in bad faith, and he seems not to want to have anything to bargain with.
As everyone knows, I became pro-Brexit after Cameron was treated with contempt by Juncker 15 months ago when he tried to renegotiate. And I learned that you have to be ruthless when you do negotiate with him.
Starmer doesn't seem to get that.
Look at this guy he's a rockstar

Are you doing that Bliar vowels thing?![]()
Im a Corbyn supporter and I hope he does it..but he wont. Why? because British voters (different to the overall public by the way) are liars. They care about two things: being great again and getting rid of jonny foreigner. End of. Keep giving em a dollop of the above two in various guises and they will vote for you. By the way jonny foreigner includes the Scots. May will simply talk immigration, and how corbyn is going to flood the country with immigrants while joing up with the scots to screw mr and mrs englander...end of..

Did anybody else note that the underlying data tables for the Yougov polls have been released and actually they show only a 1% difference in Tory v Labour vote share !

BBC Question Time tonight.
A member of the audience, a brown desi speaking half broken english, just made a rant that "Immigration has destroyed Britain" and wants all immigrants (ie those already living here) to be given an english competency test, and be deported if they fail.
(The rest of the audience booed him)
He obviously doesn't realise that he's an immigrant himself, and given his limited english, he's extremely likely to fail any english test and thus be deported.
What a Plonker!
Don't know.I cringed so much I had to change channels, what the hell was he trying to say?
Tiger Tim Farron just gave the worst performance of his life in the Andrew Neill interview. I've seen some slimy politicians struggle to pitch themselves positively, but bloody hell that was bad - on another level!
Here he is. Look at the shocked look on the faces of David Dimbleby and the rest of the panel. Even panelist Suzanne Evans of UKIP was shocked and basically said what he was saying was a bit too extreme!Didn't see it but that is hilarious - and sadly if there was an English test then a lot of indigenous whites would end up getting deported!!
The man piped up during the last show before the general election and appeared to call for mandatory deportation for immigrants who fail literacy and numeracy tests.
He said in his rant: "Now you realise immigration has destroyed the country, why don't you look back 10, 15 years (to) those applicants that came from India, Pakistan and Asian states, re-interview them and give them literacy and numeracy tests?
"It clearly means they went to bogus colleges. That's why the whole north of the UK is full of my community. Immigration has messed up the country because they have got the indefinite stay.
"Now this is not England any more, what country are we in?
^^^^ A brief transcript of what he was shouting.

Good post bro! thanks for the insight as I don't follow the scene in Scotland as much, I do agree with you that in the grand scheme based on what you've said you'e better of voting for Labour given the capacity for more of an impact. I hope somehow Jeremy pulls of the win but if he is to do so the Scottish support can be pivotal besides all the youngsters he is relying on and they're quiet unpredictable although I expect a better turn out compared to the past

No worries bro
Seeing how recent votes have gone, nothing can be rules out and Jeremy win certainly can't be ruled out.
From a Scottish point of view - I guess a SNP-Labour coalition would be the best scenario to ensure we get what is best for the UK and what is best for Scotland - however, lets see how things pan out next week InshAllah![]()
Freeeeedom!!
We will have our 2nd referendum after Brexit![]()
I think its on the cards, Jeremy went easy on the SNP bloke during the debateI smell an ALLIANCE.
I remember when you were in two minds about your referendum, I forgot what I said to you; may have been something along the lines that it would be in your interest to vote for independence but in our benefit if you wanted to stay with us. But voting for Scottish Labour now seems to be the way to go in the current climate
Yea that sounds about right manwould agree with that
In 2015 SNP won 52% of votes with Labour coming in at second with 33% of votes. Will be interesting to see if Labour can get the seat this time.
You know I am torn though. I want Jeremy Corbyn in No.10 but I want SNP to represent my constituency![]()
Vote for Jeremy, if he loses I will move to Scotland and we'll take it from there![]()
Not the nation I recognise the Great Khan.
Sounds like a plan![]()
i actually seriously thought about this. There was a job going in edinburgh which i could have applied for but then where to stay? I thought Sterling seemed a nice place and the commute was an hour. Not sure about the inter weather though lol.
You are more than welcome bro!
Edinburgh is the best place to stay IMO. There are some very nice suburbs around Edinburgh and the city itself is amazing for me.
I stayed there for 5 years and loved it. Now I've moved out of Edinburgh, however, I still love visiting on weekends and spending time in the city![]()
where do you live now? I looked at potential suburbs. Unfortuantley i didnt apply in the end but if something comes up I may go for it..
I'm going to go against the general consensus and play the Devil's advocate:
[....]
Yes, Theresa May and the Tories will win. But not by the massive margins forecast, especially if the polls start to narrow. (Tories need a lead of around 9% ahead of Labour in the polls just to maintain their current 10 or so majority!)

if you noticed I said "voters" not the whole nation. Remember only 17% actually voted during the referendum and who knows what the turnout will be. But if we assume that young people do not come out to vote even though they say they will then the "british voter" will follow the pattern above. As a nation Britan is different to the voters in question. Hence why the polls have been so wrong in the last few years. Voters will not tell you the truth because they fear being ridiculed. In essence they know they are making a stupid choice but are too arrogant, ignorant or just brainwashed to be bothered to think why.
I could be proven totally wrong on June the 8th and would be happy to come here and say so but I dont think i will..
Apparently TM is refusing to do any kind of radio interview with the BBC now. Something seriously rotten going on in the Tory campaign offices - do they not want her to win ?
Really that is so strange. Someone running for PM is shunning the people who she wants votes from.
David Davis on QT last night claimed she wins every debate in the house all the time, laughable. However Davis is a very smart man, cunning and dishonest but a brilliant speaker and debater, he could have won this election if he stood for PM.

There are growing rumours on social media, mainly sparked by Conservative activists and internal white collars, that TM's inner circle (Davis, Boris, Amber Rudd) are already plotting their individual leadership bids in case the Tories lose.

He couldn't beat Cameron for Tory leadership. But the field is weaker this time.
The conspiracy theorist in me reckons the Tories deliberately want to lose, they know there's a massive financial crash looming on the horizon, irrespective of Brexit; we can already see the beginnings of a housing price crash as the hyper bubble that successive Nu Lab and Con governments stoked begins to deflate. They have run out of props (Quantitative Easing, artificially low interest rates, Funding Lending Scheme,Help to Buy) to stoke this bubble and we are looking at a global deflationary collapse. Also they know they can't deliver any meaningful Brexit without huge financial costs so better to leave it to Labour to clear the mess and take the blame eg loony left Marxist policies that will consign them to opposition for another generation and leave the Tories to come to the rescue in a few years time.
What do you make of this theory KingKhanWC Markhor it has been mentioned before, would a respectable Labour defeat be as good as a victory? Due to future economic projections from various corners
Corbyn is being examined way more in depth than May, with her Dimbelby structured all questions around themes with him it's just ad hoc disparate questions but he is doing well.
We don't know when, in 5 or 10 years but imo a massive economic collapse worse than 2008 is on the cards. I think they are just shocked Corbyn has had a huge surge. They must of thought this 'scruffy' left winger will be help them give a massive majority which is not going to happen now.
