Whatever, good or bad, Umar , being a test player should be treated better by Micky, you cannot say a test cricketer, " go away, you don't belong here ".
You see, Umar Akmal and many Pakistan fans are being mislead around the the concept of the tag 'Test Cricketer'.
I think the biggest injustice done to Umar Akmal is the fact that he was given too much, too early before he could truly and psychologically digest the responsibility attached to it. Umar Akmal debuted as a 'Test' Batsmen 8 years ago on the basis of his aggressive, confident nature of approach to batting. Most probably in an attempt to replicate the selections of Batsmen such as Kevin Pietersen in Test cricket, or the mere fact that at the time, UA was impressing with his ability in white ball cricket and was all set to become the next premiere batsman for Pakistan after Miandad and Inzimam.
However, you must critically assess his selection to represent Pakistan in the Test format in comparison to other, top ranked Test teams and their selections of batsmen with a similar nature. For example, England has produced an array of young, talented, aggressive, dynamic young batsmen similar to Umar Akmal, however the stature of a Test team like England requires these youngsters to prove their metal in the white ball format and domestic circuit for a number of years before they are unleashed at the highest platform of Test cricket. After going through a rigorous journey in which these players demonstrate the technique, patience and class that is required at Test level, it is only then that these dynamic youngsters have finally earned their right to be called a Test cricketer. England is one example, as a matter of fact this example can be seen in the selection policies in the vast majority of top class teams.
Umar Akmal has the tag of 'Test cricketer', and what is now clear is that he clearly lives in the past. He didnt establish himself in the Test side, how can he then warrant world class coaches to respect his Test accolades, which are pretty much non evident. He was a 'Test' cricketer for one of the worst teams to have represented Pakistan in Test cricket. His shortcomings were exposed, his inability to provide his team with performances that mattered was brought to light. By constantly throwing around his tag of Test cricketer, he demeans the value of this tag especially for accomplished Test cricketers such as Wasim, Waqar, Inzimam, Yousuf, Younis Khan, Misbah ul Haq etc.
