After he's duck today, Umar Akmal now has the most ducks in T20 cricket (24). I still rate him highly, he has talent for sure and when it's he's day he's a real threat to the opposition.

In isolation you can't judge anything from such a fact.
He's still our 2nd or 3rd best LOI player for better or worse. WE don't have any other options available who can take on the bowlers and hit at will, specially against pace.
Was the best batsman of psl 2016 if you want to go that route.

Yeah he's still a good batsman and if he fires he can take the game away from the opposition.
Indeed, my friend.
Him firing more consistently would make him one of the best LOI bats in the world actually.
Don't think it would happen soon though. We need to find more players who are good hitters and not weak accumulators or just rotate the strike type of batsman like Sarfraz and Malik.
Yes but jayasuria got all these 0s over the span of his entire career.
This guy is barely half way through his cricket career and he's already got the most ducks in t20s.

Compare him with Jayasuriya when he has 28 ODI hundreds. He is not even fit to tie Jayasuriya's boots.

If he doesn't perform with consistency in the PSL, I hope they don't bring him to tour in WI because he wasn't doing that well in Australia and I say this as a big fan of Akmal but he needs to learn to perform.
But if we do ^ I don't think anyone will be coming when we tour WI, Hafeez is looking poor, along with Kamran who probably makes a comeback because of the Sharjeel situation.

People overrate his striking ability.
He is NOT a great striker of the ball, rather an average one.
Dude premeditates too much and is always looking for a midwicket slog.
He used to be a lot better 09-11 and has regressed a lot since then.
His attacking is actually limited and coupled with a low cricketing IQ; Umar Akmal is an average cricketer.

This is what separates a decent batsman from a good batsman. Umar Akmal isn't consistent enough.

Actually when he was around 20 years old he was a very good striker of the ball.
Had a good pull shot, and a phenomenal cut shot.
His ability to hit the ball straight down the ground against pace was most impressive.
Sadly he is a shadow of his former self, he was always brainless, but was able to play shots from ball 1.
Once looked full class when batting now he actually looks out of his depth these days.

You're hating him when he don't deserve it, it's poor to have such fans.
He hasn't been consistent, yeah, but better than others esp have more ability. We can only talk relative.
It's unbelievable how UA fan boys blindly support him. It's the same fan boys who think Kamran Akmal is the best thing since sliced bread. Both these brothers should be no where near the Pakistani team. Instead they should hit the gym and control their diet. They don't even look like athletes anymore.

Talented people do get out while fighting for the cause of the team unlike few other batsman who only play for their records.
Umar akmal always wants to score bigp for the team in lesser balls so he unluckily gets out sometimes. That's normal.
If he wishes, then he can easily play carefully like kohli and get similar runs

His game never evolved like it should for all players. He plays exactly like how he played at the start of his career. Your percentage game increases as you mature as a player.

let that sink in
These facts go over many Akmal fans heads and they'll revert to regurgitating cliches like "talent" and "taking the game to the opposition" as they can't argue the numbers.
2 50s in his last 25 ODI innings is appalling, and the excuse that he's batting at 6 does not wash. A good batsman should be able to make an impact at any position.

watching him bat is frustrating, no class, no style in his batting, he's turning into a hack believe it or not
he should be dropped from the team for at least a year, he should play a full domestic season and perform there to earn his spot in the team, not by requesting to prime minister to get him back into the team

It's only because he has never played at the position God destined him to. His ducks should be blamed on the coach, captain, and other current players. Junior is so full of talent that one day he will surprise everyone...and will wear the crown of the batsman on the planet.
I couldn't care about his ability. I care about performance something that he doesn't give on a consistent basis. And just look at his fitness. The guy doesn't even care.
