Fact of the matter is, Umar Akmal is more talented than Ahmed Shahzad. PCB should take a risk and bring him back. One thing is for sure, Umar Akmal will not do worse than this egoistic selfist unskilled unprofessional Ahmed Shahzad. Agree?

Bhai this is not a gully mohallay ki team that you replace one failure with another. What has Akmal done to deserve a comeback?

Umar Amin is the answer. He performed exceptionally well in Pakistan Cup and deserves a run in national team.

Currently, opening in Quaid E Azam trophy so this should not be new to him.

Exactly. Two Left-Handers opening will also do us good.

dont challenge Umar Akmal about not doing worst than Ahmed Shehzad. Umar Akmal will perform worst than Ahmed Shehzad to win the challenge :uakmal

So now we're looking for batsmen who can score more than 10 runs? Doing better than Ahmed shehzad isn't hard and shouldn't be an achievement.

I say bring back Azhar.

He was solid and consistent with his role of anchoring the innings. In the meanwhile, groom an opener to partner Fakhar at the top instead of experimenting.

My blood boils when I see these kinds of threads :misbah3 can some one please tell me what UA has done to earn his place in the team and also all the telent in Pakistan Died all of a sudden if not please tell me the reason whey the hell UA should be in the team :po:

I say how about we try out new players, invest our resources in them and give them our trust instead recycling the same failures.

Who is this Umar Akmal? He had all the resources available to him and amounted to nothing.

Time for new faces and young blood. We trusted Fakhar and our trust paid off. We trusted Hasan Ali and our trust paid off. No fear in trying out new players.

Both of them should be nowhere near the team in any format, time to move on.

Why not bring back the man we dropped and probably our most reliable batsmen, Azhar Ali?

I say bring back Azhar.

Azhar is injured.

With regards to the topic of the thread, no thanks. There are other batsmen in Pakistan too.

Akmal was averaging 29 in his last 49 ODIs but at a decent strike rate if he can average 35-40+ at 90 s/r then he should be played in the top order.

He is a better batsman ,yes. But including him in team will likely affect atmosphere of the team.Massive problems with coach, internal politics in team, and if he gets in without being subjected to same fitness levels as others it will create double standards and more resentment. There is a reason england dropped KP despite being a great batsman.

Poor threat. Shehzad is an opener while Umar is a #6. I reckon is has never been tried as opener even in domestic cricket

I agree.

But if he is being a clown back in domestic cricket and has a poor attitude, he needs to sort that out first.

And make some runs and earn a recall.

He would be suited at 4/5 Sohail/Akmal

Ahmad Shehzad is pretty terrible. But in his defence, it's not his fault they keep picking him.

Spot on. Not sure why so many posters think we should recycle the same old TTFs again and again.

A fit, focused Umar would be dynamite as an opener in LOI. But its never going to happen.

We don’t have to be trapped in this binary selection trap.

Fans will be like 'make Umar Akmal an opener.'

Sadly he has been so heavily influenced by the t20 mentality, that his 'supreme' footwork, and ability to counter the new ball that he showed when he first burst onto the scene in CT 2009, is all but a very very distant memory.

Signs of deterioration in ability to play swinging ball has been well documented for a long time now.

He is nowhere International level now besides in the t20 circuit.

He cannot play odi or test in any position as far as I'm concerned.

So it’s between these two only ? Lol.
No need, there are much better options available
