Umesh Yadav Performance Watch

Shami isnt a trundler by any means

Anyway I'd rather have 3 Bhuvi like bowlers who are effective than fast spraygun

Even I would.

But we don't have 3 Bhuvi bowlers.

Apart from him, the rest would get whacked.

Shami isn't a trundler but Mohit Sharma, Dhawal don't look safe bets for me.

Bhuvi, Shami, Aaron/Umesh/Ishant must be the lineup for us.

If Pandey does well, he could be in too.

Umesh has been given chances imo and its proven that his pace isnt useful in ODIs

I'd like Aaron to play more.have more hopes on him.

I don't like Mohit and Dhawal too but thats not bcoz of lack of pace. Its due to lack of accuracy and swing even at that pace.

I like Pandey as he can swing the ball and is fairly accurate.

Other options could be Sandeep Sharma,Bumrah etc.

If nothing works,I won't rule out possibility of even bringing back Zaheer. He's not fit enough for Tests, but hopefully can do the job in ODIs

Excellent bowling this match
Already has two wickets and only in the second over, perera and sanga.
Both gone to excellent outswingers(for lefties).
Excited to see yadav in the wc!

He is improving. Bowling much fuller and allowing the ball to swing. Uses short pitch deliveries as a surprise. Very good to see.

But dhoni might be afraid to use him in the wc, as his bowling in aus might hurt dhoni's hands :baelish

Lets hope Ravi shastri puts his foot in and asks Dhoni to play umesh, varun and shami. That's our only hope.

The real X-factor for our Aussie tour. The guy has improved by leaps and bounds. Dangerous bowler.

His opening spells have damaged Lanka consistently even on these pancake highways. He needs another quick to partner him in Australia.

Injury prone bowler. Does have good pace though. I can see him staying 100% fit until the World Cup though, where he will dominate each team he comes up against, before ending up as the highest wicket taker in the World Cup.

What an epic Phainta de la grande in the last couple of tests , 3 overs for 50 odd runs ? would be embarssed with figures like those even in a t20 match .

This 3 over spell was beyond horrible, but this series should hardly be a criteria to write off a fast bowler.

Did well today. Praise from Cricinfo "Yadav to Renshaw, OUT, Umesh has got one more. India are running away with this here. Great bowling. No matter how good you are, if the short bowling is so fast and so good, you are going to make a mental error. "

Yadav has reached a new level this season. He's now right up there among pacers round the globe.

Now he is very good with new ball and absolutely lethal when it reverses later on. If he continues like this, the "spraygun" tag won't last for long.

I am his biggest fan from day 1. Most under rated bowler. Just because he doesn't have the media behind him. IMO he is the fittest cricket in the international arena. The kind of pace he bowls, amount of overs he has bowled, bowling 145 even on the fifth day last season, without any injuries or any signs of pain. Don't think any fast bowler can do that without breaking down.

So happy Kohli has backed him and made him our lethal bowler. Compare that to Dhoni, who hated him passion and broke his confidence.

Umesh, Shami, Bhuvi should be be our three pacers and should be rotated around.

Umesh finally delivering on the promise. Needs to stay fit for our overseas tours. All 3 among Shami, BK and Umesh must play together for any hope overseas. Have no idea where the next-in-line pacers are gonna come from.

Good to see him performing he always liked him my favorite after shami. He always had skill to perform.Hopefully he becomes consistent!!

He seems to be improving. Like him as a bowler. Let's see how he does on the overseas tours

Guy's do you still think he should be in the top 10 bowlers in the world as I said earlier.

Like I said, their are guys in domestic capable of bowling sharp pace and have their basic rights as well,
Thamby
Khejroliya
Chaudhary
Warrior
Rajpoot
Lalit yadav
Nathu singh
Sangwan,
Even Aaron looks like has improved as well
And their are atleast 2-3 more guys I am missing, plus spinner in shreyas gopal and even pandya is quick and then their is a Matthew like all-rounder in Vijay shankar looks solid and bowl upto late 130's,even Kumar was cranking it upto 90mph
And then we have bumrah as well, It's exciting time to be an Indian fan.

you missed Legend Ish, who'll be super fit every time :ishant

Umesh Yadav registered his career best figures of 6 for 88 against West Indies in 2nd test being played in Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad to help India restrict west indies on 311 in their 1st Innings.

India’s 4th best pacer after 1. Ishant 2. Bumrah 3.Shami

He has done well for India in this test.

He's done when we needed it the most.

Made full use of the opportunity.

Not sure how to read this performance vs WI , but a 10-er by an Indian pacer, that too at home is rare. Glad to see Umesh on that list

10fers are rare for Indian fast bowlers. Very rare. Well done Ummi.

Glad to see one of my favorite guys in the team finally getting some love from the fans.

Guys like Umesh, Ishant and Raina are out and out team players and give their 100% without ever complaining. They deserve as much love and support from fans as the "superstars" do.

Erratic. Non trustworthy. Should play only against the likes of Pakistan, WI and Bangladesh or when the main guys are rested. Doesn’t seem to threaten better teams.

Congrats on a 10fer though. Bowled well in this match.

Congrats on a 10fer though. Bowled well in this match.

17 wickets in 4 tests at an average of 23 in the Australian tour of India, 2017.

Outbowled Starc, Cummins and Hazlewood by a country mile.

Couldn't have said it better for all 3.

Raina has been one of my favourites. He has gone down lately, but what a selfless character he was. Sadly, I think he is past his best to be in the Indian team anymore.

But, one of our clutch players. Remember how he came in against Aus in QF in 2011 and played a crucial knock. Just as we were falling short, he came in and had a brilliant partnership with Yuvi.

Follows that again in the next match against Pakistan. His 30 odd was the difference between a 260 and 220. Pakistan would have chased a 220 with ease. True Clutch player.

Used to hope he will take UP to a Ranji Trophy Win one day. Sadly not to be.

Well said and thank you for bringing Raina into this. As Sidilicious mentioned above, Raina's contribution to Indian LOIs is immense and his character is an epitome of a True Teamplayer. And he's one among the top 10 fielders in World Cricket even now. How I miss seeing players like Raina in the team who goes to every other teammate to pat his back and encourage for lil things on field. The 3rd T20 chase against Aus in 2016 along with Yuvi will remain as my last fav innings of Raina. But unforunately he lost his mojo after that. I still feel he can be a good inclusion in T20s. Raina will always remain as one of my favorite Indian cricketers and sad that he's never got the recognition he deserved during his peak days thanks to other Indian batting superstars. Had he been a Pakistani, he would have been a Superstar by now for his batting, fielding and sportsmanship.

Umesh is also one of my favorite players and glad to see him do well.

Very nice you mentioned Ishant and Raina who are also great team players.

From an earlier era, have to mention Sunil Gavaskar for his determination to perform for his country, and Mohinder Amarnath, the King of Courage.

How true about Raina.

Every Indian teams needs a few players like that. Keeps the morale high in tough situations.

Sidilicious
Tyler Durden
Napa

I still remember that scene from the Indo-Pak match in 2015 WC where Raina started celebrating Kohli's century even before Kohli could.

That is one of the most heart-warming moments in Indian cricket.

Cricket is a performance-based sports so naturally only the top performers grab the headlines. But it's also a team sports and we should also appreciate those who are real team-players. Every interview I have seen of Raina he comes across as a very humble guy with a lot of love for his teammates. Indian cricket is privileged to have a human being like him.

Napa very well said about Amarnath. A lion hearted cricketer who literally put his body on the line for his country.

Ummy is being looked at as a work donkey only by team management unfortunately

What an entertaining little cameo today

31 from 10 with 5 monstrous sixes

Linde took all the beating. 31 from 7 against him. All 5 sixes

one of the strongest players in the world. Built like a tank. Always been a good player in home conditions. Fantastic performance. Totally justified his selection for home tours.

151 wickets now.
His 3-24 has literally sent England MO back to Pavilion.

Many were left surprised seeing Umesh Yadav make it to India's playing XI for the 4th Test against England but the veteran pacer proved his inclusion right, coming up with some big scalps in the first innings, especially that of Joe Root.

The England skipper has undoubtedly been the best batsman of the series, leading his team's charge with the bat. However, he was undone by Umesh who arguably produced the ball of the series so far.

Speaking to media at the end of the second day's play, Umesh was asked about the dismissal of Root and the pacer gave a brilliant reply.

"This is a very common question I face whenever I get a big wicket. As a fast bowler wickets are important for me be it Joe Root or Robinson. So, I think as a fast bowler picking up a wicket is more important be it any player. That is it for me," said Umesh.

Umesh last featured for India in a Test match against Australia on December 26, 2020. 9 months later, he gets the nod to play in the India XI again and the Vidarbha pacer showed no signs of rustiness. In fact, he was the pick of the bowlers for India, claiming three wickets.

When asked about his preparedness for the game, the 33-year-old said that since he was always training and practicing, there was no lack of rhythm.

"You will always be a part of the team and you are always practising or training in the nets so the rhythm is always there. Moreover the trainers and physios know that you might get an opportunity anytime so they make sure to keep you in that particular zone always by making you work hard and ensure you are in the rhythm. We know that we are here to represent the nation and hence ensuring that we give our best shot as a team is very important," Yadav explained.

With chances in the Indian team being limited, Yadav truly grabbed this opportunity. But, if he is to feature in the team more regularly, a similar show in the second innings would need to be produced.

Ace Indian pacer Umesh Yadav has been allegedly cheated of Rs 44 lakh by his friend-turned-manager under the pretext of purchasing a plot in the former's name in Nagpur city of Maharashtra, police said on Saturday. A police official said a case was registered against Shailesh Thakre for cheating on a complaint lodged by Yadav, a resident of Nagpur. Thakre (37) is a resident of Koradi and a friend of Yadav.

No arrest is made yet. After Yadav was selected as a member of the Indian cricket team, he appointed his friend Thakre as his manager on July 15, 2014, as the latter was unemployed, the official said quoting the First Information Report (FIR). "Thakre gained the trust of Yadav over time. He started handling all the financial affairs of Umesh Yadav. He used to handle Yadav's bank account, income tax and other financial tasks," he said. The official said Yadav was looking for land for buying in Nagpur and asked Thakre.

"Thakre located a plot in a barren area. He told Yadav he would get it for Rs 44 lakh. Yadav deposited Rs 44 lakh in Thakre's bank account. However, Thakre purchased the plot in his name," he said.

When Yadav learnt about the fraud, he asked Thakre to transfer the plot in his name but the latter refused to oblige. He also refused to return the money, the official said. "Yadav lodged a complaint with police in Koradi, following which a case was registered under sections 406 (Punishment for criminal breach of trust) and 420 (Cheating and thereby dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the Indian Penal Code," the official added.

Always liked Umesh Yadav. He is built like a Bull, the Strong Man of the Indian Team.

He has of late bowled consistently and has improved his game.

The Current TEST MATCH Fast Bowling Pecking Order of Team India

1. Jasprit Bumrah
2. Md. Shami
3. Md. Siraj
4. Umesh Yadav

It is hence interesting to note that Umesh has become the fastest Indian fast bowler to reach 100 Test wickets in India. Umesh has got to the mark with a strike rate of 46.1, which is better than that of former India captain Kapil Dev (55.7). Kapil is the highest wicket taker in India among Indian pacers with 219 wickets. Javagal Srinath is second in the list with 108 wickets, Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma come next with 104. Umesh's strike rate, however, stands above all of the aforementioned fast bowlers.

Same is the case for Umesh's average. At 24.53, Umesh sits above Kapil Dev (26.49) for the best average among Indian fast bowlers to have taken over 100 Test wickets at home. Umesh's career tally at home sits at 101 after his performance on Thursday. Interestingly, the fast bowler had also set a batting record over the course of the Indian first innings on Day 1. Umesh hit two sixes as he smashed 17 off 13 balls. This brought him level with Virat Kohli's record of sixes in Test cricket. While Kohli is on 24 sixes in 181 innings, Umesh has got there in just 64.

Quite an underrated bowler though most effective with the old ball meaning he needs the perfect attack around him
