Umpires' intervention on an unplayable pitch

Today I am referring to the on going Pakistan South Africa test match at Cape Town with the pitch increasingly becoming unplayable.

Why we are complaining, looks like batting paradise to SA, we have hard time getting any wickets, SA is compiling mountain of runs and we are waiting for declaration after they cross 500... Pakistan bowling is so toothless that, they don't looks like going to get a wicket in next three days. Pakistan Cricket is completely dead, At some point we all will be stop following it, no body can bat, we cannot bowl above 130, on a mine field we cannot take a single wicket, how low things can be :faceplam:

If last joburg test, which was unplayable from Day 1, was not abandoned, then why this match? That too scoreboard reading 340 odd for 5

Because he doesn't like it when Pak Batting fails or Indian Bowling succeeds, its surprising that he wasn't here when India bowling destroyed Australia in Melbourne 1st innings.

Needless to say, Pakistan bowlers did not get the necessary support from the fielders and wicket keeper. There have been numerous dropped catches and the fielding has been loose as well. Had the bowlers got the required support SA would have been bundled out for less than 200 given the way the pitch is playing out. Every other ball has been misbehaving. The scoreboard does not do justice to how well Pakistan bowled in this match.

I don't care about all that, All I see is our bowlers trundling at 127-130, that is absolutely shameful. I have not felt this humiliated as a Pakistani in many many years, this is disgusting, things cannot get lower than that :acp

You cannot expect the bowlers to steam in at 150 kph after being on the field for 100+ overs and getting no support from the captain / fielders. Obviously fatigue and frustration sets in and that explains the drop in pace. All these bowlers are capable of 140 kph when fresh and you cannot expect them to persist after being in the field for so long and bowling close to 30 overs.

They were not bowling 140 even when they were fresh.

Also this is not the pitch where bowling 140 to 150 is recommended. 130+ kph with good line and length and targeting the cracks will do the trick. No point expending energy when bowling medium pace can do the trick. A bit of assessment of conditions and resources is necessary rather than running in every ball.

Not sure if this plan is working.

Yes. You can be too fast to exploit the conditions. McGrath was at 75 mph in England yet wreaked havoc.

It seems the administrators have taken note of the debacle during the last English tour on this venue and now prepared a sporting wicket this time.
