Unlucky Rahat Ali

How did he get another chance? He has to be a sifarish. Very annoyed. Misbahs fault for not playing rehman when we lose
 
Rahat Ali is not Test class at all.

He can't bowl consistently on a good length and at times seems unsure where to pitch the ball, not helped by his bowling action.

If he proves me wrong I will eat some humble pie.
 
We may need to kick him out. His luck is spilling over to our amazing batting line up.
 
As waqar was mentioning his lack of success is due to fact that he doesnt make the batsman play much, and though he balls at decent pace it seems like he doesnt think about bowling
 
Rahat bring Rahat to SL Batsmen. relieving any pressure built up on other end.
 
2 more edges that went to boundry in this over as well...

this guy is really unlucky.. he shouldn't be dropped.. he is bowling well
 
If you dont see the potential in Rahat then you are obviously blind

Better go and see a eye specialist to get it checked out :)))
 
Just had a LBW decision on his side..But not Luck

It was in line ..hitting stumps...but was just a nono meter outside leg..So overturned...

Call me an idiot because i expect Rahat to gets us some wickets and perform well, also because i am not satisfied because he has Potential.

i guess you dont count those edges as a chance..

ok the job of bowler is not only to take wicket but also if wickets are not coming.. bowle according to the plan.. and in the right areas...in the same line and length that his captains want him.. he has done it all through the match.. if those edges didn't carry or went to the gap it isn't his fault.. it is his luck.. he bowled in the right areas.
 
TBH he has not bowled well in this innings. He has given freebies but yes he has been unlucky especially with that drop
 
He is too predictable, just sliding the ball across the right handers on a good length. No variations atleast junaid uses the short ball.

1-Rahat Ali to Sangakkara, FOUR, he's on a good length and probing around the off stump corridor there and Sanga had to play at it considering it got just a bit of inward movement as well. The outside edge is taken and it scurries away to the third man boundary

2-Rahat Ali to Chandimal, FOUR, oh, not quite the best shot off his first ball. It was pushed across him on the left-armer's angle and Chandimal was drawn into poking at it and this time he's lucky enough to find the gap in the slip cordon and get a boundary

3-Rahat Ali to DPMD Jayawardene, no run, 140 kph, he's given him! Mahela has been judged leg before by umpire Oxenford, but it looked rather high to me. Struck on the top flap of the back pad, no inside edge there. Mahela ws stuck on the back foot while looking to flick the ball and is struck on the pads. But HawkEye says it has pitched outside leg - just a smidge over half the ball had pitched outside the line of leg stump

Rahat Ali to Silva, FOUR, edged and it falls short of second slip and goes through to third man for a boundary. Good ball from Rahat, he's been working towards that and is unlucky not to pick up another

Rahat Ali to Silva, FOUR, another edge and this time it goes through gully.

6-Rahat Ali to Mathews, FOUR, edged and it goes through second slip! Didn't carry to Hafeez as he dived to his right. Mathews is drawn into driving loosely around the off stump again and again the outside edge is taken but it dies on Hafeez...

Damn ! , he is seriously unlucky . He better needs to pray for some luck or else he has a long " rest " coming his way .

3 innings of bad luck. First innings he was unlucky and the result was he was keeping tight. The next two apart from bad luck he was also leaking runs infact alot of runs. Funnily last time rahat crossed the 100 mark he got 6 wickets against SA.

I've seen Rahat bowling and he looks to have all the tools necessary to be a good bowler. Decent pace, some movement and a bit of bounce off the wicket. With all that in his armoury he should be able to snag more wickets. You can only play the bad luck card so many times. A new ball in your hand should mean at least one wicket, even if every chance doesn't get taken.
 
He reminds me of a left handed version of Rao Iftikar Anjum..

The thing he has his good moments and his fair share of bad deliveries as well. Ive seen him go from fantastic to absurd in the space of 1 delivery. As an International Standard bowler you don't spray around the ball on the same length from leg to off. He seems to know how to bowl, but definitely cannot control his line. You can see the difference when him and junaid are bowling. Junaid keeps it tight. Rahat doesn't. And I feel that isn't international standard. How about giving young Mohammad Talha a chance.

I saw a PP thread that according to Mohammad Talha he bowls at 145 kph. It will be interesting to see how he would've done.
 
He has bowled on two pitches that have been very conducive for pace bowlers. If he is not getting wickets on these pitches, it's not just bad luck, he is just not good enough.
 
He got 6 wickets in South Africa. But he conceded more than 4 runs an over. For test matches that is alot. It shows the batsmen are going after you. It also shows that Rahat has the ability to get the batsmen out but most certainly it shows that they have targeted him as the weak link of the attack. And when they attack Rahat has the chance to pick up wickets. The thing is its about building pressure in test matches. Rahat is a pressure reliever.. He is Rahat loll.. Thats what one of the posters said above
 
Let him play all 3 tests so that he cant be another one that claims that he didn`t have a proper go. From what i have seen he looks ok but the swing is too early and he is only as quick as he looks, which means that batsman have enough time to play him. Unless there is a big improvement, its going to be a short career.
 
with this economy he is not cut for Test match cricket even if he 2-3 wickets per innings leaking 4 an over is criminal as simple as that
 
He should get 1 more test and if he doesnt perform he should be dropped for time being
 
Give him one more test but be prepared to loose the series. zzzzzz
 
He has had enough chances.. Time to let him go and work on another pacer.

I had said it before this match that Rehman should be played instead of Rahat. The two spinners working from both end have always won Pakistan matches in the UAE.

And to be honest, even Bhatti is not Test meterial. He has pace but he is too short. I would rather have Pakistan give a chance to Talha in the next match along with Rehman.

Rehman or talha should replace him in nexy test match.
 
you cannot deny Rahat's potential, how many left handers arrive at international stage with ready made banana in-swinger and other Jaffas going?.but he should work hard on bridging he gap b/w out smarting a domestic batsman and out smarting an international one.

I'm sorry I must of missed this after watching the ball trickle to the boundary numerous times.

Just look at his figures. His best was in a losing situation and he still was hammered for 130-odd. He may of taken Sanga and Matthews but his runs per wicket is atrocious.

Wake up and realise he's not the second-coming.

The wicket of Sangakkara was because Sangakkara's bat got stuck, otherwise it was not a special delivery.
 
It may be childish, but some of the other statements on here are more delusional than realistic.

Rahat is very average at best.

luckily found this, I have seen him bowling this delivery many times but his length is not wicket taking mostly.

Where did I say this..GROW UP

I meant ,I know it was sangas mistake but Rahat did well to take advantage ..he kept it full and straight in stumps..If he had fired it wide or short would sanga still be out for this mistake..

Hardly "banana in-swingers" is it now :P

It's a ball that curved in and if he was such a great in-swing bowler you'd have more than one video and that against Zimbabwe too.

I mean Younis Khan can swing the ball too does that make him a devastating swing bowler?

He simply doesn't have the aura of a fast bowler nor does he show it.
 
He swings the ball way too early. It starts curving as soon as it leaves his hand. That's useless swing and even part timers can do it.

Good question. He was an excellent spinner, one of our best domestic performers. I know what his selection was, a one time deal to play for Pakistan as a reward for toiling away in domestic cricket. Similar to Ayub Dogar. It's a a revolving door but still, Babar bamboozled the Saffers and hit a last ball 4 to win us an ODI....I really liked that guy.....:(

exactly..the way that Guy took Amla and babboozled AB to win us that test....and in T-20 is really hard to hit ......due to his unique action can slog as well.....Does anyone know ...why is he left out?
 
A player can be unlucky to a certain extent. After that, you start questioning how good he really is.

It's obvious that Rahat has talent, but the problem is that he has no standout quality.
 
Rahat has some decent skills but looking at his body language runup attitude he doesnt have the look of an international class pacer. Even Junaid has a slight aura about him. Rahat reminds me of Ashok Dinda or Vinay Kumar has the trundler vibe
 
I've seen short clips of Rahat in first class but not long spells. It would be interesting to know how he bowls over a spell cos he has awesome domestic stats but his international wickets so far have been costly. I wanna know if he bowls a hit me ball every over in domestic as well and the domestic batsman are just not good enough to put those short wide one's away. If he does have control in domestic cricket then nerves could be the only problem he has.
 
Another overhype Pakistani trundler. Pakistani version of Pankaj Singh but shorter and weaker. I don't understand why Pakistan is not giving Wahab Riaz a chance at least he is phaast and is build like a phaast bowler unlike the rest of trundlers produced by Pakistan in recent times.

Like you create trundlers from fast bowlers..we are hoping to create fast bowlers from our trundlers.

Problem is not early swing, Problem is his short of length and wide bowling, Due to these faults he doesnt make the batsman play enough and doesnt make full use of his swing
 
He might be like Woakes and Pankaj who have awesome first class stats but are just not up to it at Test level.
 
Rahat can benefit immensely from a month long camp with Wasim. He swings the ball both ways and is already bowling at 85 mph plus. If he can get it right he can be more than a handful. His action atm is disorganized, all over the place which is what is giving him control problems.
 
A brainless bowler that's it.

Guy seriously does not know what is the right line and length, he keeps persisting with his short of a length line yeah you will get edges at that length but they'll most likely go over the slip cordon so a waste of energy really. Not to mention if you notice when he runs in for his 3rd spell or so his legs usually slip away resulting in him losing pace, swinging it too far as you lose control because your off balance. Needs to work on his leg muscle in order to bowl long spells, keep his pace and maintain his control of the ball.

Could be a good bowler but mentally very weak and tbh not many people can help with those problems you have to do it by yourself.
 
mentally weak bowler who bowls short stuff all the time. has potential and all the ingredients but i dont see him achieving anything due the usual lack of commitment that Pak cricketers show.
 
Luck finally going his way....got two edges on to the stumps
