Planning a big holiday to California, hoping to travel May/June and I was wondering if anyone who lives or has been there can help. I want to visit San Francisco, Yosemite NP, Lake Tahoe, Los Angeles and possibly depending on costs Las Vegas.

How are the choices for halal food in these places? Will I have to drive to a muslim community?

What is the rough cost for a meal for a family of 4 if we don't go somewhere fancy?

Are we likely to encounter any racist attitude or behaviour in the rural areas, particularly when going to the national parks?

Are there any places/sites where you can get discounts for the theme parks like disneyland?

Halal is a bit tricky to guarantee in Las Vegas. You are better off eating in the vegetarian / vegan joints which to be fair are numerous and pretty good.

You will love Yosemite NP. National Park itself is not a rural area. Population is not allowed to stay in NP. If anything, you will find diverse crowd visiting NP. Outside of NP can be rural, but you shouldn't worry about racist attitude at all. Enjoy your trip.

Halal won't be a problem in SF bay area or LA. There are no muslim areas as such, but particularly in SF you'll probably be 15-20 mins away from a good halal spot at all times. LA is more spread out, but there's lots of options. You can easily eat well for $10/person at most places. Halal joints typically don't tend to be upscale but some persian/mediterranean places may run you $25-30 per person.

Not so much in Yosemite and Tahoe as these are remote places, veggie options are your best bet. Same with Vegas.

Don't worry about racist attitude. Enjoy California!
