Although the disappointment of falling short against Pakistan will linger, the Netherlands remain firmly in the hunt for a Super 8 spot. Their comfortable win over Namibia helped steady the campaign, but tougher challenges now lie ahead. Ahead of their upcoming clash with the USA, veteran Logan van Beek spoke about approaching their final group game against India with the ambition of doing “something special.”

Beating arguably the strongest T20 side in the world would certainly qualify as special. In a global tournament — particularly in this format — surprises are never out of the question, though the Dutch still have time to focus on that marquee encounter. Their immediate task awaits in Chennai, having previously played in Colombo and Delhi. Constant travel presents its own hurdle, as the Netherlands do not have the advantage of playing multiple matches at one venue, raising fresh questions about adaptability to changing conditions.

Adding another layer of complexity, this will be their first day-night fixture of the tournament, where chasing could offer a significant edge. A victory here would also apply pressure on the loser of the India-Pakistan showdown.

For the USA, the stakes feel slightly different. While they are still mathematically in contention to replicate their 2024 run to the Super 8s, defeats to both India and Pakistan have dented their prospects. Even if they win their remaining two games, qualification is no longer entirely in their control.

They pushed Pakistan hard during the chase and rattled tournament favourites India, reducing them to 77 for 6 at one stage. Yet their relative inexperience at this level ultimately showed — a point passionately highlighted by Shayan Jahangir in his call for increased ICC funding during the pre-match press conference. Strong performances on Friday and again on Sunday, both at the same venue, could lend greater weight to that appeal.

USA's Indian batsmen are really good. Not all of them but Ranjane last game and Monank this game gave been really good.

Reared at VVS Laxman academy..

Cricket, he's completing it. Soon Indian origin player teams such as USA, Canada and European nation will be the biggest rivals to India :misbah
Don't think so but they might become better than PAK and SL if they continue on this trajectory :inti

Netherlands win pak as usual lose to India, India will deliberately lose to Netherlands to knock pak out.

Remember Edgbaston 2019 v England.. Stokes confirmed it Ind deliberately lost.

USA has upcoming younger homegrown players with lots of potential. They need to drop Monank Patel - a very mediocre batter and an anchor guy thats not needed in modern T20s.. Make Jahangir or Andres Gous the captain. Saiteja, Sanjay etc are good batters and Jahangir or Gous need to lead the ship now. Milind Kumar and Ehsan Adil need to be dropped as well.

Bud , useless teams claim conspiracy theories LOL ! Just win all games then and knock everyone else out.. Simple but cant do it bcos the Pak team is pretty useless no matter how much you cry victimhood. The win over USA will be the best for them this WC. They "avenged " the 2024 loss LOL !

Why so triggered?
No one's triggered LOL ! Would be the same if this was coming from the Ind side. Hate conspiracy useless theories from any team. Just go on the field and perform. Even in club cricket, we do that. All these excuses are just plain silly.

Ali Khan is bowling well after a good batting performance by USA.

Meanwhile USA get their first wicket with a creepy crawler
