What's new

Usman Khan Shinwari signed up by Melbourne Renegades to play Big Bash 08

Lol when did this trundler become a speed demon? :bumrah

In all seriousness, I would expect his pace to increase up to high 130s because in T20s you're only bowling 4 overs as opposed to 10 in ODIs. But a top speed of 146! Wow that is pace.

So assuming this is legit, since after all I wouldn't expect a developed cricket nation to adjust speed readings (just for views). This shows the gulf between the bowling coaches in Australia and the ones in Pakistan. Even the ex-Pakistan bowlers like an ATG in Waqar and LOI legend Aqib Javed are poor bowling coaches. No wonder why the former was left humiliated when he tried to apply for this role with the Australia team.

Only in Pakistan you'll not only do they take on a failed applicant for the Aussie bowling coach role but they also make him head coach not just once, but twice! Shows what a pathetic and incompetent organisation the PCB is.

One correction : His top speed today was 151kph,not 146.

Saw his first 3 overs. He was bowling very well, at a good line and length. The Aussie batsmen were treating him with respect.

Bumrah was a trundler as well. Look at his pace last year or the year before. Barely went above 140.
This year idk what has happened to him.
145 consistently

I think he needs to play in pressure situations a lot more so pak vs ind Asia cup doesn’t repeat for Usman.

What happened to the people that said he will be torn apart in the BBL because of his speed?
What is their explanation for this.
He bowled 3 overs with only 8-9 runs conceded.
The last over let him down a bit.
But otherwise still very good figures

Tbf Bumrah was never a trundler

He is a decent bowler, but needs to improve on his thought process. The radar goes AWOL as soon as he starts getting hit around.

He doesn’t have good mental strength

That's only one aspect.

Can't move the ball. Flukes don't count. Yes, sometimes reverses the old ball or off the seam.

Plus, length and line are also wayward.

150.9 kph on Aussie speed guns which are 3 - 5 kph + faster than others. (My take)

Hope Usman stays fit. Good gas from him at BBL.

Melbourne Renegades will take on Adelaide Strikers today in Geelong. Usman Khan Shinwari may take the field today for the home team.

Today's match figures of Usman Khan Shinwari.
4 overs 40runs 1 solitary wicket.
A rare failure for him today in BBL, has been bowling superbly before this match.

Usman Khan Shenwari while bowling today took a hit on his leg and seemed to have injured his shin however he has confirmed in the interview that it's not that bad as it looked the moment he was hit. A bit of swelling, should be fine.

Hope he has recovered from his injury. His team is playing soon

In the XI today, hopefully will have a good outing. On another note, I can't believe that the fastest ball in BBL history is only 151 Kph, maybe the speed guns are too slow?

Bowling extremely well today with pace and bounce. Regularly clocking the mid 140’s. Also looking much fitter and in shape.

Shinwari 2.0 overs 0 maidens 7 runs 1 w so far

It's only 4 overs boss. What's it like when is on the field for 2 -3 sessions, coming back for third and 4th spells

Watched the highlights. He bowled well today but he also dropped an absolute sitter, not the first one he's dropped in BBL. His fielding definitely needs work on, it hasn't cost his team any matches yet but it could cost Pakistan some matches in the future, especially in the World Cup where we need to take every chance

Being referred to as The Prince by their Twitter account!

Would have liked to see him remain with the Renegades. Not sure how much he's gonna bowl in ODI series.

Makes you wonder whether his presence in a more professional set up and some top level Aussie coaches is the reason why he's bowling not only quicker but to his full potential as well.

i felt the same way.
in Pakistan set up under sarfraz it all looks messed up to me.
i never for once saw captain goin and giving on some free advices to usman while bowling
or yelling on anyone

Yep Sarfraz has indeed brought a gully mohalla mindset into this team.

I don't know about 151 kph but he's faster than any of Aamir,Junaid Shaheen are bowling currently and even during Asia Cup. Has pace but when you don't get it spot on against Dhawan and Rohit, pace can be useless.

It could be the overclocked speed guns as well.

We have to remember that it's only 4 overs, AND in Australia, where every pacer extracts extra pace..

Partly because of more effort putting into balls and also a bit of speed gunissue.

Just watched the highlights of the match and boy he bowled well today. Even took a catch as well. This guy could be really good in SA, I really really hope we don't choose Amir over him in the playing XI

Good to see our Uzzy doing well. The other Uzzie(Qadir Jr) is having a decent tournament as well

I've seen highlights of one game may be at BBL with him and of him at the Asia cup. He just seems like an honest trier where everything comes off at one pace with sideways movement. Maybe he's changed, but I dont really rate him on what I have seen so far.

Not really. He's played 2 games, got smacked in one, bowled decently in the other, although he has regained his place after being dropped so let's see how he does going forward

In his last performance, he picked up a couple of wickets with some slower ball bumpers so he might be developing.

Playing today and should be able to add more to his tally of wickets - also good preparation for the SA tour.

I thought his contract was for seven games. Looks like his team doesn't want to let go off him!!

You are absolutely correct!

Shinwari is done with BBL now

......

So he's coming home, he did decent for his first time in Australia. I heard he also bowled 151kph, is there a way to find out what his average speed was?

Will be exciting if he gets to bowl on SA pitches inshallah.

Good to see Melbourne Renegades acknowledging his performance for Pakistan today.

Although he's only been given a chance in the shorter formats, he hasn't even played 25 international matches yet and you're calling for his head.

On the other hand, the ultimate mental midget has been given 60+ Tests on the trot and is eight years older than Shinwari! Some of our fans are really the worst, most unsupportive fans a young player could ask for.

I hope you've gotten your answer now. Garbage, garbage bowler.

Good for him.

But not for the BBL team. Gonna get carted for fun.

Cartwright is not a tailender. He almost had Klinger as well.

You said he will 'get carted for fun'. :najam

Ha ha ha

How many years before you grow up?

These highlights were very short, if you watch the full spell, you would see he bowled superbly, was beating the batsmen repeatedly, and he was bowling in the powerplay, was a fine spell of fast bowling. Faultless. Apart from that sitter he dropped, but a great performance, and deservedly MOM

What did I tell you folks?

:najam

I don't want to praise my own self here, but I've been saying shinwari is extremely poor.

Eventually, people are going to see the light.

Did he 'get carted for fun' in BBL? :13: As that was the point of contention here.
