[VIDEOS] Sydney Sixers land Babar Azam for the entire BBL|15 season as a pre-draft signing

Mike Hesson on probability of Babar Azam featuring for Sydney Sixers in BBL 2025-26

"A player like Babar has an opportunity to play in the BBL and show he’s improving in those areas in T20s.

"Those are things he's working really hard on.

"He's too good a player not to consider."
So, what now Mike?

is this official?

Seems like a deal has been done to save face for Babar.

He should have stayed and fought for his reputation.

They were likely going to drop him for the next match and he came running back for camps to save face.

The tournament was a much needed reality check for Babar to show its not just outside noise, media, fans etc, but how he is viewed by other players, coaches etc around the world and its a stark reminder of his fall from grace. Babar can either continue to fade into irrelevancy or work hard, transform his game and come back better than ever. Be interesting to see which way it goes.

Australia captain Marsh
Conolly
Hardie
Dwarshius (sixers)
Phillipe (sixers)
Edwards (sixers)
Mitchell Owen
Beardman
Inglis

All involved in the finals/qualifier and none asked to leave to play T20i in Pakistan. All likely to be travelling on Monday

Farhan still in BPL, not asked to come back for some camp.

I think only @heddie19 genuinely believes Babar wasn’t to be dropped.

Sixers look absolutely fine without Zimbu

4-135 in 13 overs
They’ve clocked up nearly 200. Now i know Babar “wasn’t dropped 😱 “ ahem…..but it seems like a blessing in disguise!

SS are so lucky the PCB were so keen to have Babar back, I’m surprised SS accepted it considering they got a guarantee that Babar was available for the whole tournament. This is really magnanimous of SS to not pursue any legal discourse on this

Anyone with sense he has been a burden on the team for years and in no way deserves to be in the squad. In red ball he was always a passenger, never delivered in TEST cricket. In ODIs he is the King of JAMODIs. When it comes to T20s even in his so called prime (whatever that is) he always failed when it really mattered.

National duty , Hesson probably called him , you're needed at no. 3 , specialist anchor
Mark Waugh continues to focus on Babar Azam.

"Honestly, i don’t think he’d have been picked anyway. The whole thing feels strange with the camp just starting."
