I heard Bazid yesterday speak a lot of sense.

He suggested that Babar should take himself out off the T20 player race like Root has done. Focus on ODI and Test Cricket. He started struggling in those longer formats after he started falling off in T20 and troubles with his SR.

It is fine to leave a format for a while and concentrate on your best formats for the better half of your career. He can always try to make a comeback later or after his retirement like Smith worked on his power game.

Sometimes when you are trying chase too hard that one thing, it can go further away from you.

This would make a lot of sense but as @Rana and others have pointed out, Babar takes t20 as his prestige format. He couldn’t care less about tests. He’d be happy to play Toronto league and Gawalmandi league next.
