Really really excited about this kid.

Is the former captain of Pakistan u-16 when they defeated Australia u-16 3-0. In that series he was phenomenal. Took 14 wickets in 6 games.

In 2016, he played in an u16 tournament. He took 45 wickets at an average of 12.

Recently, in the 2019 u19 3 day competition, he was 2nd highest wicket taking bowler.

30 wickets at an average of 16 in only 6 games. This includes 7 in the final.

In the u-19 one day tournament he was leading wicket taker. 15 wickets at an average of 7 which led his team to victory(3 in final)

His good performances have resulted in his selection for Quetta Gladiators, and also the Pakistan u-19 team.

Have watched a lot of his bowling videos and he looks fantastic. Has a great action.

I first took notice of him when I saw him take the wicket of Misbah ul Haq with beautiful flight and deception.

His Cricinfo profile is:

http://www.espncricinfo.com/pakistan/content/player/1076387.html

Really excited about his career. We should get a talent spotter of him on PP?

Thanks for sharing. Left arm spinners or left arm bowlers in general dont excite me anymore (we have had far too many in recent years).

The kid seems to have a good body language and a solid bowling action. I hope he is a good fielder and also a decent lower order batsman.

Really excited about his career. We should get a talent spotter of him on PP?

Yes we'll arrange it probably after the U19 World Cup.

He's really good as a fielder. Batting I think needs improvement. But this guy has a solid arm. Seen him pull off great run outs.

MMHS what do you make of his bowling?

Really looks like a talent.

Looks good. But then again so do Bhatti, Gohar, Ashgar, and Umer Khan.

Rather than bowling, i bet it's batting and fielding which will separate our assembly line of SLA's and determine who plays for Pakistan.

Bhatti is 33+ years old

Zafar Gohar is good but failed on the biggest stage(televised final)

Asghar seems to be nowhere in reckoning for Pakistan cricket

Umer Khan is good

Yes lets pick this nobody at the moment instead of over the names mentioned. The other day it was that garbage Basit Ali from u19.

He should work on his batting as well. In the era of flat tracks, SLA and OS rarely succeed. Hence, if he works on his batting, he can be more valuable as an overall package.

One of the best spinners in the world with a great bowling action. 300 plus test wickets bowler.

Action wise I think he is brilliant. And he has taken the wicket of Misbah ul Haq which says a lot. How often was Misbah stumped in his int career?

Just checked.

Misbah was stumped only ONCE in his entire career of 315 innings.

WOW!!!!

He should work a bit on batting , Pakistan need spinners who can bat a bit , not batsmen who can bowl a bit. Keep main suit as bowling .

Left-arm orthodox spinner Arish Ali Khan thinks that the Pakistan Under-19 cricket team is strong enough and perform well in the upcoming ICC Under-19 World Cup in South Africa.

While talking to media at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), he said that the mega event is very crucial and performances will be good regardless of the team they face.

“Tournament is very important, no matter who the team is we will try to perform well in the competition,”

He had the opportunity to work under the mentorship of former leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed, who has worked hard on his bowling.

“U-19 is the first platform to be consider at the higher level, examples of Mohammad Hasnain and Mohammad Musa are there who came through this level in the senior side,” Arish said on the importance of Under-19 cricket.

Young spinner is quite impressed with all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz and Sri Lankan legend Rangana Herath.

“I am very fascinated by these two spinners and their style impresses me a lot,” He added.

He concluded that he will try to do well in the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) as he will be representing Quetta Gladiators.

Lot of hype around this kid - Lets see how he does in the U19 WC.

I want to become the best spinner in the world: Aarish Ali Khan (PCB video)

<iframe src="https://streamable.com/s/vi0xl/mamxc" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; fullscreen" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Left-arm spinner Arish Ali Khan was not in the starting line-up on Sunday, but is likely to feature at some stage in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2020.

On his early days and cricketing ambition, Arish told PCB digital: “I still remember Mohammad Amir’s devastating new-ball spell against India in the Asia Cup T20 2016 in which he dismissed Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane and Suresh Raina. That spell inspired me to pursue cricket seriously. Representing Pakistan U16 and that too as captain against Australia was a dream come true moment for me.

“I want to become the best spinner in the world, at present my and the team’s focus is on the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup. Our coach Ijaz Ahmed and spin bowling consultant Mushtaq Ahmed have worked hard with us and given us important advice.”

I always love when young cricketers aim high. Babar showed this attitude and he is on the right track and I hope Aarish Khan also keeps on growing from one stage to another.

No matter how talented you are i.e Amir, Raza Hassan, Umer Akmal etc. you can never become a top player unless you have the right attitude and are willing to put in the hard yards.

Strangely Other spinner was chosen ahead of him in the world cup who i wasnt impressed with

We haven't had a genuine finger spinner for a long time. I thought Asghar and Gohar had something and both have gone backwards in the last 2 years with the T20 actions and tactics of firing the ball in to leg and middle.

This guy is a special bowler, but very unlucky!

One of the only genuine spinners in Pakistan right now. Not a T20 guy. Proper flight and test match style spinner.

Highest wicket taker in u19 50 over tournament

Second highest wicket taker in u19 3 day tournament

NOT SELECTED by any team in 2020 domestic season!!!!!!!!!!

He is in the Sindh squad's extra players list which can be played any time. Danish Aziz was in that list and got selected in the main Sindh squad for National T20 cup.

Considering the rubbish masquerading as spinners this is shocking. I haven't seen him bowl but he can be any worse than what we have seen

Bullet Drive he definitely comes across as a curious case. I blame a lot of it on Ijaz Ahmed for not playing him in the U-19 world cup. Without that spotlight, he had no platform to continue the progression.

How will he play his next match? What level? How does he show his progress?

The solution is two pronged:
1. Institute an audit on U-19 selections and require proper explanations in cases where the number 1 performer in a domestic U-19 tournament doesn’t get a chance in the team. To be conducted directly by Nadeem Khan with Ijaz Ahmed called in directly to give a report.

2. Institute a safety net so that cricketers may have one more platform after U-19 cricket to prove themselves. This may come in the form of a national U-23 tournament. I also hope the City Cricket Associations model is implemented quickly.

As far as Aarish goes, I hope he gets a chance soon especially in first class or at least in the second XI.

He won't be selected.

By the looks of it Asghar, Hassan Khan (Was extra player in Sindh, All rounder) in first XI and Abrar Ahmed (Was extra player) (, Aamir Ali (Was extra player), Ibtisam Sheikh (Was extra player) in the second XI are all being considered in front of him. Having to compete with 4 other SLAs (Including Faraz Ahmed) in the Sindh squad didnt help him much either.

Bump on this. Aarish yet to play any professional cricket for the last 11 months.

This is were the 6 teams is not as good as the deserving players may miss out due to limited teams

These guys better get city cricket running soon, otherwise our cricket is going to be non-existent beyond these six sides...

Have to agree. The 12-team two tier structure is needed for a fact to enhance quality, but we also need the grassroots to keep feeding players into the Regional second XI structure.

For that, City Cricket needs to be set up immediately.

To be honest I don't see anything exciting. he Mohammed Nawaz kind of Bowler. If wants to play for Pakistan he has to be good batsmen and a gun fielder.

That’s not the point, even I don’t think he is world class (yet) as the title suggests. However, he was the number one performer in U-19 cricket last year. No other batsman, bowler, or anyone in between stood out statistically speaking as much as he did. That includes Haider Ali and folks like Qasim Akram, Abdul Wahid Bangalzai, Mohammad Haris Khan, Akhtar Shah, and Irfan Khan Niazi, all of whom had first XI games this season.

He had something like 30 wickets in 6 games in 3-day and averaged 7 in one-day, with the next best average being 15.

So whether he ends up being special or not, you have to respect the system and the consistent results produced by its top-performers - otherwise there’s no point to the system.

One year on, Aarish has barely played cricket and has no backing to move forward. Doesn’t matter if he ends up being Mohammad Nawaz, but performers need to be given promotions up the pathway.

Yeah definately he should get a chance to play domestic cricket and perform well but I dont think he will get into Pak team.
We all know pitches in domestic cricket are so bad and ball turns square. Let's not overhype him, let him work on his game.
te day he gets to bowl on an international quality wicket you will se the performance walking out te door.
So he needs to develop his batting skill and improve his fielding also work on different variations if he wants to play for Pak team.

Aarish Khan has been added to the Peshawar Zalmi's squad in place of Amir khan.

Amir khan has been ruled out of PSL due to injury.

There is a huge supply of slow left-armers in the domestics, many of whom take bucket-load of wickets. You'd expect Pakistani batsmen to be adept at playing spin because of the amount of real-match practice they get. Instead, Pakistanis look like kittens when they play half-decent spinners in internationals.
