Odd and strange- what is his religion got anything to do with it?

Mamoon just proves your theory that people support amla, shami and many others due to the common religion.

Are they for real? Are KulCha first ones to get tonked by a batting lineup?

Also as you rightly pointed out, what has Shami being a muslim got to do with anything?

So what's wrong with that?

I am a muslim first, then a pakistani, then a punjabi.
I love all muslims regardless of race, nationality or ethnicity

It all boils down to our rotten mentality. We are all infected by a virus because we weren’t vaccinated at the right time.

This comment, Imad’s statement, Malik’s statement after the WT20 Final, the support for Amla and Moeen, crying about India allegedly fixing the match etc. etc. are all symptoms of this virus.

Does Abdul Razzak feel Shami bowled well and showed loyalty to Pakistan/Muslim brethren? Or am I understanding it wrong?

The issue is that we assume that Muslims in other countries think like us.

Why shouldn't people support their fellow Muslims? There are groups who hate on these individuals for being Muslims, so similarly there will be fellow Muslims who feel the need to support them. Of course self hating cretins inoculated with a French style of secularism would have a problem with this.

Feels a little needy when those others actually do not necessarily endorse your views.

Need it necessarily be seen as needy or could it be seen as showing happiness at the fact that a downtrodden minority who happens to share a faith with you is doing well?

It seems it was just a random observation without any "agenda".

I remember many Indians also used to comment in the context of Danish Kaneria that he is the only Hindu in the team - why was his religion important then?

Well Shami may disagree with you. It's this attitude where one takes the 'ownership' of the other side which is problematic.

I cringed watching this. Imagine implying Danish Kaneria had a soft spot for India or would try to do India favors because of his religion.

Why this is irking for peoples if muslims have soft corner for other muslims. If whole west can backed asia bb just bcz she is christian then whats wrong if razzaq or any other feels good for shami/muslim players.

The West doesn’t care for Aasiya bibi because she is a Christian; they vouched for her because she was a victim of the barbaric blasphemy law that has no place in a modern, civilized world. If being a non-Muslim was a pre-requisite, they wouldn’t have cared for Malala.

Are you for real?? :)))
Katie Hopkins, tarek Fatah all support her just coz she was a Christian being "harassed" by muslims. If she was a Muslim harassed by Christians none of these people would have cared

Why can't I support other muslims??

People support other people from their country, village, town etc. Even when they know nothing about them.

If someone is like me, why can't I support them?

They were probably counting down the time before he converted.
I know people who made similar predictions about Mohammed Yousuf.

Razzaq isn't the smartest of people. His type see religion in everything and are unable to debate without mentioning it. Shami is an Indian and that is all there is to it. He belongs to the country Pak has fought wars with, we have not fought wars with any predominately Muslim country. I have one rule for Indian Muslims and another for the rest coz India is our enemy and so are their Muslims.

Her religion is irrelevant. She was a victim of blasphemy law and that is why they supported her.

Whenever I see Pak former players open their mouth, they always say something stupid or bizarre stuff.

Many Indians do not hate Pakistanis. You guys are our long lost brothers. Ram Willing, one day we will unite under Akhand Bharat :salute

Inshallah. Only difference is it will be after Ghazwa-e-Hind and the new country will be called United Pakistan or something similar. Then we can all live happily under real Islamic law. This will mean everyone will be free to follow their religion or none at all without being lynched.

LOL, there are several other cases where women brutally killed on daily basis in this country but I dont see your west come & rescue them, you are the only person in this world who think that Christianity wasn't the reason behind the support of west to asia.

For blasphemy law, just go to your favorite country india & try a beef roll there, if peoples wont make your own roll then tell me and yes you may visit the west too to feel the liberalism, you just need to spew a word regarding holocaust's self created folk tales.

The so called liberals blah blah & their pappu geeri is for Pakistan only.

I don’t mind it but I have a problem that ‘religious’ Muslims get more praise than the rest
Why does moeen Ali get more supporters than Khawaja
Why does Imran Tahir have more fans than mujeeb rahman

And where the Muslim Uk fans when nasser hussain and Usman Afzal were in the team

Odd and strange- what is his religion got anything to do with it?

Absolutely nothing...the problem is with the primitive Pakistani mindset. These people cannot talk about anything without dragging religion into.

Her religion is irrelevant. She was a victim of blasphemy law and that is why they supported her.

Tarek Fatah didn't care about her religion? :)))
Tarek Fatah is the same guy who thought inzi was a maulvi who sarfaraz had called from Pakistan to bless the pitch.
:)))

Her religion is the only reason they're talking about her. Instead of being in denial, admit it.

What were Imad and Malik's statements?

What were Imad and Malik's statements?

Malik was the captain of Pak, and in the presentation ceremony he apologised to all Muslims around the world for their defeat. Funny bit is that Irfan Pathan won the MOM award in that match.

Ugh, so stupid. This whole 'us vs them' mentality of religion (especially Abrahamic or proselytising ones) is problematic.

That was 12 years ago, I think he's come a long way since then especially after he married a Muslim Indian.

I wonder whether it just came out of his mouth or did he actually plan it before hand. If it’s the latter, he is a big time idiot. If it’s the former, it’s understandable since he doesn’t have good command over English.

It's been 12 years, give it a rest. This was years before he married Sania Mirza.

It mind-boggling, how a person who played for Pakistan for so long talks such non-sense.

Pathetic statement but not first time Razzaq has dropped a clanger in recent times.

I don't expect much sense from our ex-cricketers.

No matter how much money they make, their background remains the same. Its the gawar mentality that never changes.

I couldn't care less about a bigot like Tarek Fatah. My point is simple which you might understand if you stop rolling on the floor. Her religion is unimportant - she could have been a Hindu, Jew, Zoroastrian or a Buddhist. The fact is that she gained recognition and support from the international community because she was a victim of the barbaric blasphemy law.
