[VIDEO] Babar Azam has to be removed as captain from all formats

According to a few sports reporters, it is Babar who requested Ramiz to ensure that the curator prepared a flat track. The captain of the team sets the tone for everything.

In my opinion, this was a good decision to go with a team like today in such pitch. Instead of giving Abrar a debut in this test, or playing Nawaz in this road, I would rather they both play in later match where there is something in a pitch.
 
People like to blame Ramiz but we know that he has given Babar a freehand as captain. He is a poor player if spin bowling & most probably doesn’t want to bat on such wickets.

Everyone knows he is extremely selfish & obsessed with individual milestones. The last time Pakistan played a home series on bowling-friendly wickets (vs SA) he completely flopped.

It is no coincidence that since then, the curators have prepared roads for Babar to pile up the runs.
 
TBH he seems approachable and keeps things way more transparent than what I remember of other PCB chairs. Guy also knows PR and can address media efficiently . I am ok with him .

Hahaha that means team management deliberately wants to destroy career of 4 debutants. In that case they have should rested Babar who has played every single game and Shan must have got the opportunity on this batting paradise. Why should Babar have all the fun??

No clue as to how to stop the flow of runs, no plans regarding where to ask his bowlers to bowl and no plans on the strengths of the opposition batters.

He won’t score anything of that sort with 3-4 alright batsmen to follow him at 4 on this track

You can expect Azhar to suck the life out of the innings at no.3
 
He selected 2 players who are on debute in which 1 bowler hasn't bowled much in domestic.in a 4 man attack.

As I said, it was a good decision not to take Abrar and Nawaz in this test match. They both would have toiled in this road with no outcome. Zahid Mehmood or Agha Salman is not for long term prospects so they can toil in the highway, but Muhammad Ali is the only bowler who I think should not have been given a debut in this test match. But considering he have got long FC experience, he should be mentally tough enough to take this beatings and then come back stronger in the next test.

Yeah pretty much agreed with all. Glad Abrar didn't come in to get smashed on this road.

Despite limited international experience, Ali and Zahid have played more than enough cricket in Pakistan to not have too many excuses here.
 
he should be temporary banned from PAK cricket and should be told to go get his mental and physical issues sorted out.

I know I vouched for him earlier in the thread but it’s becoming frustrating to watch him captain Pakistan.

He’s a good man manager and the dressing room is United under him, yes.

But so what?

Are we supposed to keep him as captain because everyone gets along under him and so continue to embrace pathetic losses.

He’s marginally better than Azhar Ali at this point as captain. Every time the need of the hour is to attack, he takes his foot of the gas out of fear of losing.

And I’m not talking about this test, where again, he could’ve adapted to the attacking strategy of the English and began thinking as an ODI or t20 captain as that’s the format England was playing on day 1. It seems like he adjusted the field finally on day 2.

I may be lenient in keeping him captain for ODIs simply because the WC is so soon. But 3 crucial losses in t20 tournaments to Australia, SL, and India where we were in a winning position for so much of the game is hard to ignore along with the defensive captaincy in tests

There are options. You have Rizwan and Shaheen for test matches. You have Rizwan, Shadab, Shaheen for ODI's and T-20's. These people have shown some out of the box thinking, brave, aggressive captaincy in the PSL.

Pakistan needs Babar the batsman to fully focus on his batting. Leave the captaincy to someone else who is more natural on the job.

Shadab and Rizwan are not guaranteed starters in the ODI team. Shaheen is unlikely to be made captain in any format due to workload management for fast bowlers

Not sure about Imam but what makes you think he has good leadership qualities?
 
I think Babar should remain as Test captain and ODI captain.

But, T20 captaincy should go to someone else. Shadab perhaps.

T20 he should be replaced.

In test there is sadly no other alternative because the rest of the players aren't even guaranteed picks.

The only hope for the test side is to bring in a strong coach that can impart his ideas and philosophy on the side.

The type of coach that places signs to say which field to set and what bowler to select.
 
I try to be measured in my responses but everyone's patience is finite, and mine has run out with Babar. He's a total disaster as a cricket captain.

His first instinct is to avoid defeat than play for victory primilarily seen by the lifeless home pitches he requests and how negative our batting is under the slightest pressure.

He doesn't learn from mistakes regardless of format and struggles to finish off the opposition from strong positions. He's slow on his feet to react to events - looking bereft amidst ENG's Bazball approach. He makes poor selections (Zahid over Abrar being an absolute shocker) while being too deferential to seniors.

He refuses to change his own approach for sake of team - selfishly clinging onto opening position in T20s despite dismal returns.

A change of captaincy won't transform Pakistan, with its sorry talent pool, into world-beaters but Babar's leadership, despite enjoying unchecked authority, has nothing to offer.

I agree that his captaincy is atrocious but the cupboard is bare but there is no other player that is a guaranteed selection.

IMO we need to pair him with a solid coach who is control of every aspect of of the team. This approach may help him learn and understand the game.
 
There was day and night difference between stokes and babars captaincy especially the field placement and the attacking attitude yet babar is best in the world

If after captaining for 3 years, playing international cricket for 7 years, overall cricket for a good decade, you haven't learnt much about the game then you aren't going to learn much further. He has reached his ceiling as far as captaincy is concerned. Pakistan needs him the batsman more.
 
If his replacement is Rizwan then it's better to continue with him.

I don't think Babar will be sacked until Ramiz Raja is PCB Chairman.
 
This is the repeat repeat of misbah era babar is the saviour of pakistan cricket he will play another 10 years regardless

Cupboard is bare for captaincy unfortunately. The players aren't mentally agile and are uneducated. These are key requirements for test cricket captaincy.

This is the same across the entirety of first class cricket.

Our only option is to import a coach.
 
The only viable captaincy contender IMO is Shan Masood but he can only come in the side if we drop Azhar Ali.

Shaheen could take over once fit. He led his team to victory in PSL (whereas Babar lost nearly every match) and Pat Cummins shows there's no reason why a fast bowler cannot captain.

Rizwan wouldn't be my choice but also has success as a domestic captain. There's no question about their places, so there's viable alternatives unlike 2019 when Babar was appointed. Shan is an outside option but a short-term pick.

I'm all for hiring a solid coach but the captain's in command once the team steps over the rope - and there's only so much they can do when the captain has the tactical understanding and game awareness of a schoolboy.

I also think Babar's starting to damage his legacy as a batsman because of his disasterous captaincy and negative approach to the game. For his own sake, it's better he returns to the ranks.
 
Add another feather in Babars cap ie loss to England at home.
 
He has to go. He is doing irreparable damage to Pakistan cricket with the mindset along with Yousaf.Losing fans as well.
 
Watching Stokes captain and then seeing Babar lead his troops is just painful. What a contrast in strategy, cricketing IQ, and courage.

His fans are equally culpable. They dance on their rooftops hailing "King Babar" after every pretty cover drive and soft hundred as if to hell with Pakistan cricket, doesn't matter if we lose every match as long as Babar reaches his milestones.

The whole state of Pakistan cricket currently utterly depresses me.

He has zero personality & charisma, no leadership skills, no tactical nous & fails more often than not with the bat under pressure.

He has no business being captain but then again, what alternatives does Pakistan? It is a mediocre team with mediocre characters. They are not spoilt for choice as far as captaincy candidates are concerned.

We need a change a fresh approach Someone with some ideas and can adapt to challenges that are thrown his way

Ramiz should meet Maulana TJ and request for replacement of Saqlain and Yusuf immediately.
 
babar is a shehri when it comes to batting, but a dumb paindu when it comes to captaincy/strategic thinking... and he is an egotitist person... i just dont like the guy anymore...

I recon Imam has a better shout at captaincy than Babar does in Test and ODI, but Imam is still not a nailed down role in Test cricket yet

I would say dump Babar as captain. Bring in Shan Masood for Azhar Ali and make him the captain. He seems to be one of the smarter members of the squad. Let Babar focus on run-scoring. His whole demeanor and attitude is un-inspirational and defensive and reactive as captain. His selections are poor and he's not flexible overall.

I wouldn't replace him with Rizwan, he's just another Babar.

In white ball he is fine. In test we should groom someone like Saud to be ready in 2 years time. Rizwan will be same as Babar, Shan is too old and Shaheen is too young.
 
I remember when most of the posters here were adamant for him to be Pakistan's new captain in all formats a couple of years ago.

I told you guys that he wasn't captaincy material. He's far too timid and simply isn't a natural leader. Not exactly rocket science to work this out.

To add to the above, Shan Masood should've been appointed as Pakistan's test captain. He earned it after his performances during the tours of Australia and South Africa.

In my opinion, you have to pick your best team first & then your captain. Misbah made Pakistan’s best Test XI, he was a very solid batsman.

Tim Paine was a poor cricketer who was clearly not the best WK batsman in the country but Australia over corrected themselves after the tampering scandal & it backfired pretty badly in the end.

Does Masood make Pakistan’s best XI? Certainly not in my view.
 
Salman Butt was critical of Babar's captaincy and approach. He is like a captain can learn a few things here and there for his experiences, mistakes but a large part of captaincy is instinctive and natural, ultimately if you don't have it you just don't have it and you will never have it.

Babar should put himself out of his misery. 3 years is long enough to show the world your true abilities as a captain as by then you have been exposed to many pressure situations in the field.
 
This match is a successful outing in babar’s world. Flat pitch, century, bit of stats padding, lost but only on the last half hour of the last day.

Bring on the next road
 
Don't mind Shan being appointed as captain, he's done decently whenever he's been captain in domestic cricket. Yorkshire made him their captain for a reason.

It’s worth a shot. But no country does this. Where a player on the bench slots in as captain. So highly unlikely that this will happen.

Only other guy who’s been playing for a while is Rizwan. But I don’t think he’s different from Babar. Babar will still influence him to be timid as they are best buds and think alike

If Shaheen was playing, I’d make him captain and take a chance on him like how WI took a chance on Holder and it paid off big time.

Shan has been rubbish in Pakistan conditions and I’d rather play Haris Sohail if given the option.

Shaheen won’t work. There is no way that a fast bowler can be made captain in this day and age with the workload and especially SSA’s injury record.

Jason Holder worked due to him being utilized as a fourth bowling option in Tests.

Looserish mindset to stick with an eternally choking Babar as captain. England had the sense to move on from Joe Root even though he was the best player in the team.
 
Name a single Match where Shan has scored runs and Pakistan Won ..i cant recall...he is V2 of Babar when it comes to Captaincy and timidness

You know that a player is rubbish when you have to refer to a 7 year old performance to justify his selection.

He averaged 3 in his last Test series. He is a crap player who has never averaged above 31 in his Test career & currently averages 29 after 25 Tests but somehow, at the age of 33, not only should he be in the team but he should also be the captain.

When you look at the thought-process & mindset of such fans, you realize that Pakistan fully deserves to be where it is right now.
 
When you are skipper, at the start you make mistakes, but you learn from those mistakes and improve. But Babar seems to be in a rut, making the same mistakes.

Don't think Babar is competent enough. All great batsmen do not necessarily become great captains.

It worked with England because they already had a world class all rounder who made the team in all formats.

Who does Pakistan have? Less said about clowns like SSA, Shan, Rizwan etc. the better
