He played an incredible knock in the final of QEA Trophy, has made some useful contributions for Pakistan in last few series he has featured in and now smashing bowlers for fun in the PSL.

I think in Tests he can develop to be a useful no. 8 who averages 22-25 with bat and 27-29 with ball.

He can but he won't .

Reason , over last 10 years or so, particularly in Misbah era, almost all the talented cricketers has regressed, not progressed .

Here are some of those who made a good impression in the beginning , only to regress and did not live up to the expectation .

Umar Akmal
Shadab
Amir
Hairder Ali
Hasnain
Naseem Shah

list is a long one

Shaheen, so far the only one making steady progress.

Think he can but at the moment he is not consistent enough.

Hasan Ali is a one dimensional attacking batsman. I doubt he can exhibit good defensive technique and can grind, bat according to the situation

No. He is a tail-ender who can slog once in a while.

He is 28-29 in reality and has injury problems. He should retire from Test cricket and focus on LOIs for the next 4-5 years because this is his strength.

He will never reach the heights of 2017 and was brought back of earth by Rohit and Dhawan in the 2018 Asia Cup, but he is a useful asset for Pakistan in white ball cricket especially considering the lack of talent at our disposal.

I think he is better used as a hitter and not called all rounder.

In OD he should be at number 9, which adds depth to Pakistan XI.

Amazing hit from him!

A allrounder is someone who can make the team as both batsmen or bowler. Similar to Kallis, Flintoff and Stokes.

Hassan Ali is not an all rounder by international standards, however has the ability to hit a few boundaries towards the end.

Definitely a world class bowling all-rounder

Man can deposit sixes, crucial ones too!

When he hits it, it stays hit.

Lovely clean striker of a cricket ball - work to do on his batting though if he is to be classed as an all-rounder.

Lol Flintoff cant make in to the team as a bat or bowl, and Stokes cant as a bowl..

What sort of bowling has he done today against South Africa? given the game back to them in the final over.

Hassan Ali's recent performances with the bat in the County Championship not filling us with much hope on his credentials as a top quality all-rounder - 0 & 5 in current game vs Essex

He was never going to be a true all-rounder. Just someone who could hit the ball a bit in the right conditions and circumstances. We can never expect consistent batting from him.

This thread didnt age well

Not only is bowling toothless and inept hes also a brainless batter too

What kind of shot was that with a set batter at the opposite end?

Hassan Ali has ability, but he has the mentality of a tailender. If they doesn’t change he won’t move forward (with regards to batting)

He actually was an all-rounder when he started but now is just a bowling pinch hitter.

Hope he doesn’t end up like Anwar Ali.

A world class fast bowler around age 17-20 -> Bowling dip but batting good enough to be a future AR -> bits and pieces player.

he cant even hold his place in the team as bowler.. hasnt been able to bowl in the right areas.. wicket column is quite bare

Lol world class all rounder. :)))

He isn't even a club level bowler or batsman. Awful player.

Thats another trundler with pace now 128-130 range , can;t bat , can;t bowl . Has been a failure. Dropped after his failure against Australia and no performance in domestic cricket but somehow brought back by a visionary selector in test , remained wicketless in first inning and lasted for 5 bowls in batting . Calling him an all rounder is nothing but stupidity.

I thought he could be some years back. Now he struggles to keep a first team place never mind anything else. Is a lower order slogger who bowls some medium pace deliveries.

Tbf he bowled well today, definitely more zip and confidence. But you can’t be that on and off. He has to be more consistent and needs to put that effort in regularly

Another failure from Hassan Ali

Came in at a time when should have been slogging, blocks and blocks and then out!

Hope today was the last time I saw him in Pakistan team, in any format, enough .

His defense is awful. Can't play short pitch bowling either. Apart from that, is a very clean hitter and can become a useful lower order batter with some work. Although his bowling is falling apart. His body falls on the right side too much during action and follow through now.

He can once again become the world class allrounder he once was if he again starts enjoying the game...he taking the game too seriously right now...

Should bring out his famous suicide blast or what that is called celebration and show some emotions on field...

:inti

We made a big mistake dropping a poor M Waseem for a pathetic Hassan Ali.

M Waseem at least would have scored 15 with the bat and won us the test match

He was told by team management to block and survive the remaining overs which he can't. Current team management needs to be sacked ASAP or we will see similar performances in future
