The game has been released today for the XBox One, PS4 and interestingly the Nintendo Switch.

This is Big Ant's latest cricket game - following on from Ashes Cricket and Don Bradman cricket.

Anyone got the game yet?

If so on what console and how you finding it?

I am keen to buy it on the Switch, to give flexibility to play on the go, but cant find any reviews yet.

Have they not released a PC version, if not I might give it a try on PS4, if there is a demo.

Good to see graphics in cricket games have stepped up, before they used to be really shoddy lol!

On my rental list.

I hope the controls are not the same as Don Bradman cricket. Bowling and Catching were just a nightmare!

Hopefully this is more like Ashes cricket!

Do you play with standard controls or classic controls?

I play with the classic controls and find the bowling OK, whilst fielding......apart from a few catches....just happens itself

The best was Don Bradman IMO. Will check this out.

Yes played alot of Don Bradman 17 over the years and before that don Bradman 14 and the ashes games.....and before that EA crcicket and Brian Lara cricket haha

However, I quite liked the Don Bradman games.

EA cricket and Brian Lara cricket have a nostalgic element to them, but found them a bit too easy.

It's been a while since I played Don Bradmans (on PS4). I think it was standard.

Ashes controls though were very Brian Lara's cricket-esqe!

Thanks, just downloaded it now, so I'll give you my feedback on the game. 20GB download though, so might have to play it tomorrow.

Sounds good! Looking forward to see what you have to say.

My main concern before forking out 50 quid for the game is that it will be no noticible the difference from Don Bradman 17 which I have on the XBox 1. Only advantage of buying the game on the switch would be that it's portable.

I would recommend trying to play with classic controls - specially with the batting difficulty set to hard - or even medium - and the bowling and fielding controls set to easy.

I find that to be the most enjoyable balance.

Looks good.

Man i used to spend hours playing these games everyday

Yea I love a good cricket game man!

And I feel Big Ant have done quite a good job in recent times to produce a game which is some what realistic in its gameplay, has decent graphics and is fun to play

Big ant studios have made good cricket games. Wish ea could start making cricket games again but the pirated games in the subcontient are more popular than the actually buying it.

Loved those EA sports games from the 90s.

Even played the Graham Gooch Cricket game with very poor graphics.

When was the GG game released?
92 or 93 I think it was. Considering the time when it was made, the graphics were decent.

I have Ashes Cricket.

Is Cricket 19 a decent release or more of the same?

Doesn't seem to be much of an upgrade from Ashes Cricket. I'm gonna wait until it's cheaper. Definitely not worth £50.

Personally I thought Don Bradman 17 was quite an improvement in terms of game play over the Ashes games.

I thought their was a much better balance between bat and ball - in both 1 and 2 players - and the computer AI was alot smarter.

This time apparently there have been the following updates:

- A further improved AI who will look to focus on your weaknesses when bowling and look to pick up singles and rotate the strike when you are bowling

- First person bowling and fielding mode

- Scenario mode where you can complete different scenarios

And then the general better graphics, tournament mode etc. etc.

Even though the above upgrades sound good - I don't think they justify spending £50 at this stage - specially if you already own DBC17.

The only thing which is tempting me is that it has been released on the Nintendo Switch which means you can play it on the go and gives you alot more flexibility. The above features + the flexibility of being able to play on the go on the switch are possibly worth the £50. Specially seeing how - unlike some other games - the Switch version of the game does seem to have all the same qualities, game modes etc. as the XB1 and PS4 versions.

I was talking about Ashes Cricket released by Big Ant after DBC 17.

Here's another trailer video. In terms of features their do seem to be a few more extra bits and bobs to go along with all the career mode, world championship mode, scenario mode etc.

However, on the whole it just does look like a much better presented game.

Ah yes sorry! I was also getting confused between the games and getting them mixed up.

I was meaning Ashes cricket as well rather than DBC17

The improvements listed above are apparently the improvements in Cricket 19 over the last Ashes cricket game - not DBC17

It looks good definitely but I'm not too desperate with the World Cup coming up.

I remember Ashes Cricket dropped down from £50 to like £20 a few months after being released so I'll just wait it out.

Thanks guys!

I think I'll hold off until the price comes down.

Yea a price drop on the coming months is inevitable. Because of that I keep telling myself aself as well.

However, every time I then see a video about the game on YouTube I start reconsidering :yk

I'll probably cave soon :inzi

It dropped down too quickly for my liking. I was disappointed coz I got it at full price.

IGN have a review out now

Cricket 19 is the same game as Ashes 18 with a few polished looks.

BigAnt started with a decent game back with Don Bradman but failed to deliver anything special afterward.

- The career mode is still the same repetitive and boring; there is nothing special to do. It is missing Injuries, getting dropped, dynamically changing batting position, some built-in scenarios where you are sent in to be a hero prove something or even training session where you can gain anything like skill points, etc.

The game still has a very very limited shelf life with nothing much to do. I wanted to buy this game, but I think I will pass this is the problem with these small studios they have a minimal vision with no budget to back it up. This time they spent all their money on capturing players from England and Australia with motion capture etc.

So.....I caved and ended up buying it for £40 on the XB1 from Argos :P

Will give it a go and report back in next couple of days inshallah

Sweet! Let us know how it is, and the controls!

I am hoping for Direction + O = 6! (Brian Lara style!)

:)

havnt played a cricket game in nearly 5 years and ball physics still looks dodgy.

at 1:46 in the review video the batsmen hits a back foot cover drive off the splice and it goes for four.

also developers need to come up with a way to play the game off reactions, ive played baseball games, tennis games, etc, none have to be played with bowling markers or bounce markers.

greater emphasis needs to be given on bat swing timing and blade direction and less on placement by choice.

so for arguments sake, left stick is blade direction, right stick is swing timing, etc, just throwing out ideas, but i find baseball games more fun than cricket games, even tho i enjoy cricket much much more as a sport.

EA should just give it a go and make another cricket game. A good amount of people in India now have consoles and would be willing to buy the game.
Imagine Cricket 20 made by EA Which has all the licensed teams. The graphics would be amazing.

Personally, I've really like the cricket games made by BAS. I remember when Dbc14 came out a lot of people whom I know bought the game as it was the first proper cricket game after CRICKET 07. The graphics are decent but I think they could have added more features to cricket 19. Also the price imo is too high, £45 is just too much for an average gamer considering the quality of the game. People imo wouldn't want to pay £45 for a game made by a relatively small production company.
£25-30 would have been the best price to attract more customers. But as the production company they know more. This is just what i think

Damn I bought Ashes Cricket for 75-80 euros...

But I had to buy it from the PS store.

Cricket games are meant to be fun like Brian Lara 2005, Big Ant have failed in this regard and have overly gone for a simulation targeted at hardcore video game cricket fans but the execution is also poor. I checked out the demo a while back it was just horrible.

We need codemasters to make a comeback! because EA wont, I rather they bring back Fight Night anyway.

This new game is criminal, just a ploy to rip people off; it looks to me there is no real upgrade, don't let these tools mug you off, 50 quid  spend that on a Battlefield or something

Man I got really bored of Brian Lara and EA games where you can just stand and swing everything for 6. I think their needs to be a balance between fun and reality and I think Big Ants give that.

I agree - playing on anything above medium difficulty makes the batting really difficult in the Big Ant games and takes the fun out of it a bit - but if you play on easy or specially medium, I think it gives quite a nice balance

Brian Lara 2005 had this mode called Classic XI, it was so much fun like recreating famous scenarios / match situations such as Imran coming out of retirement for the drawn Test series, his model / action were incredibly realistic to. I agree it was easy to smash a few but not as much on the Test difficulty. The other thing overlooked is miltiplayer / 2 player on Codemasters/EA games was fun as well.

I think Big Ant have amazing ideas and it's very realistic but that fun factor is missing and perhaps the budget is just not enough to make a world class game or their spending could be better in order to find that balance betweem arcade / simulation

Tbh I don't think international cricket was bad at all imo the one I had on Xbox 360, last cricket game I enjoyed. Maybe I will give Big Ant a go at some point once this becomes discounted to around a tenner

I played the demo briefly last night (after my team was crushed in the final :( ) and I would say it's not worth paying £40-£50.

The game physics is substandard but the graphics and game modes are a good upgrade from the last game. Overall, a bit disappointed but if you're really into cricket games you will enjoy it more than I did.

I look forward to getting your thoughts on the game, once you've received your copy.

Good point, I refer games which offer a choice between Arcade and Simulation modes. After all, games are meant to be fun.

That was the last cricket game I truly enjoyed, the version on PSP wasn't too bad either. But in a way beggars can't be choosers and Big Ant are the only cricket game developer out there I guess so you gotta take what you're given. I would still prefer international cricket from 2010 though, if you have xbox one you should be able to play the 360 game

Has anyone bought this for the Switch yet?

I always think about buying games for my Switch over the PS4, but unfortunately games ported to the switch usually lead to a watered down experience - with worse graphics, frame rate and sometimes even a worse engine (looking at you FIFA). I think the only in game in recent memory that was better on Switch was Sonic Mania so now I’m always skeptical about buying the Switch version.

If anyone knows whether there is any significant graphical and frame rate difference between the versions I’d really appreciate it. Game companies are sly and will never do this.
