Mohammad Rizwan, Naseem Shah and Fakhar Zaman answered following interesting questions in a Eid podcast:

Host: How did your Eid used to be? Was Eid better before, or is it better now?
Rizwan: "It used to be much better before. As a child, Eid is for the young ones, and the real enjoyment comes from childhood memories."

Host: Do you get Eid money now that you are the eldest brother?
Naseem: "We didn’t get Eid money in childhood, so we don’t get it now. Most of our Eids are spent on tours, and we try to enjoy together as much as possible."

Host: Rizwan, how do you spend your Eid with your family?
Rizwan: "In the last 10 years, I’ve only spent two or three Eids at home. It’s difficult being away, but when I’m with my kids, I enjoy it even more."

Host: Has your wife or children ever complained about you missing Eid?
Rizwan: "Yes, my wife often complains about me not being there. But when we have a good result on tour, we enjoy Eid as a team."

Host: Naseem, how do you spend Chand Raat?
Naseem: "Now my focus is on matches—how to take wickets and win. Before joining the team, there was excitement about clothes and plans."

Host: Who wakes up earliest for Eid prayers?
Rizwan: "It depends on whether we’re at home or on tour. On tour, it’s usually me."

Host: Which batsman did you find the toughest to bowl to?
Naseem: "Recently, Jos Buttler in white-ball cricket is very tough to bowl to."

Host: Rizwan, what made your partnership with Babar Azam special?
Rizwan: "Good communication was key. We planned overs strategically and supported each other during matches."

Host: Fakhar, which Pakistani legend batsman did you wish to play with?
Fakhar: "Saeed Anwar and Inzamam-ul-Haq—they had special and different games."

Host: Naseem, which bowler did you wish to bowl with?
Naseem: "Imran Khan—I wanted to see his lifestyle and decisions as a bowler."

Host: Who is the funniest person in the dressing room?
Rizwan: "Nawaz—he makes everyone laugh."
Naseem: "Iftikhar—he’s funny for the whole team."

Host: What is your best career innings?
Rizwan: "The semi-final against Australia—it’s the best innings of my life."
Fakhar: "126 runs against New Zealand in the World Cup."

Host: Who is the most superstitious player?
Rizwan: "Shadab—he’ll tell you to sit still during matches."

Host: Who forgets things the most?
Rizwan: "Nawaz—he once forgot he didn’t like a bat he brought and tried selling it back at double price."

Host: Which bowler do you wish to play against?
Fakhar: "Shoaib Akhtar and Wasim Akram—I wish I could face them in nets."

Host: What message do you have for fans regarding team performance?
Rizwan: "Fans have the right to be upset; we accept our shortcomings and are working hard to improve."
Naseem: "On flat pitches, everyone struggles, but we’re working on solutions."
Fakhar: "Constructive criticism helps us improve; unfair criticism hurts players emotionally."

Host: Any Eid messages for fans?
Rizwan: "Eid Mubarak to everyone; take care of yourselves and your families."
Fakhar: "Eid Mubarak; pray for us to perform well."

Wahab as a host? Host, Senior Team Mentor, Senior Team Manager. Dude has gone places since 2023. I can see Shan following a similar path in the next couple of years as well. Bang avg cricketers better suited to the comms box than the field.

Stars?

I only see Fakhar as a worthy Star.
Why is the semi final against Australia the best innings of his life and not Sri Lanka or SA d team 100 on odi recently?

Even if he's trying to be cheeky by mentioning strong teams, just say test series vs Aus since he was at his best their and it's clearly his outlier test series.

What did he do in that semi final??
We still lost it due to his slow batting.

What's the necessity for Pakistan to have so many tours in Eid time? This full series v NZ wasn't really needed either. They could have just played some t20 after eid.

Thanks for sharing. Rizwan is an intelligent man, you clearly see it when he speaks Urdu or Pashto. No wonder he is a great leader.

Like i said, the attitude of these players stink. They walk around as super stars without having achieved zilch and behave as if the team has not been on an endless losing streak for the last 3-4 years.

Pakistan and BD are the only Muslim majority countries that play cricket.

Eid shouldn’t be a factor when finalizing FTP

losing match where he scored a match losing fifty at under 130 strike rate is his best innings? good that he understands his limitations. That was a pathetic innings

Rizwan: Fans have the right to be upset; we accept our shortcomings.

But but @RizwanT20Champ is not accepting :ROFLMAO:

One question strikes my mind.
Is this program shoot today in nz or it is a past recording??
Riz and naseem are on nz tour so this must be a past recording.

Rizwan admits he and Babar used to purposely play slow to wait for a weak bowler to score 10-15 runs off an over.

What a pathetic individual that was allowed 4-5 years to destroy our white ball cricket!!

It depends on your frame of reference for Wahab.

If you look at his current exploits his post cricketing career is impressive from a Pakistani ex player POV.

But when zoom out you consider he was once sports minister for Punjabi and is now hosting podcasts then it appears to have gone downhill.

That doesn't work. On a cricket field.

Only hard work does. On a cricket field.

Try that instead. On a cricket field.

Are you some kind of imbecile? Fakhar doesn't work hard? He's been Pakistan's biggest match winner for a number of years. A prime example being when he single handedly helped Pakistan score an imposing total in an ICC final against India.

Great start to a response, biff.

pakistan's biggest match winner. Doesn't mean much.

Since pakistan doesn't win much. So there.

Your argument would make sense if the statement was made by a non-performer. Fakhar is a world class white ball batsman, so to pick on him for mentioning the importance of prayers just makes you look stupid. That's why I'm referring to you as an imbecile because that's exactly what you are.

When was his last "world-class" trophy win?

Let's qualify. And quantify.

Facts don't care of biased opinions. Or prayers.

Trophies are won by the team not by an individual.

Current exploits? As ordinary as his cricketing career. He bowled two fluky yet freakish spells in the 2011 SF and 2015 CF, but he has nothing to show off apart from that. He is definitely a graduate of Shoaib's school of daleri, wears his heart on his sleeve, but skill-wise, he was never good enough. His game sense isn’t that great either, I just don’t take his analysis seriously.

Fakhar is extremely inconsistent, even in white ball cricket. The innings you mentioned was all the way back in 2017.

That's the difference between hard work and couple of fluke innings, many talented players have had handful of good innings but the greatest of the great have been very consistent through hard work year after year.

Trophies are won by the team not by an individual.

Fakhar averages 32 in tests and 22 in t20s, which is really really poor. So it's not even "white ball", just ODIs where he is good.

In ODIs he has a decent average but he has been very inconsistent lately. Being satisfied with that and believing that's some sort of world beater career, shows the reason for the current state of Pakistani cricket.

Fakhar Zaman in 86 odi games has 11 centuries and 17 half centuries. That means he performs once in every 3 to 4 odi games? How is that inconsistent?

And these performances all come at crucial times vs India, NZ, and SA?

He's extremely consistent in odi lol when he's fully fit.

The reason he's not an ATG is for 2 reasons.

A) He's an odi great in an era where odi is a dying breed and it's very likely that Kohli will be the last ATG in said format due to dying interest. Amd even then kohli is supplemented by his t20 run and his early test run pre 2019

B) Consistent injuries + mismanagement by PCB aka dropping him and what not.

Otherwise he's honestly been a better Odi batsmen then Travis Head, however the reason Head is remembered more is because of his final 100 and because he consistently bullies India in certain conditons.

The 2nd and 3rd test bullying followed by wtc bullying and wc final bullying. India is the biggest PR machine in the world, hence any player that consistently performs a giant them is remembered more be it via pure hate or admiration.

It's the same reason Steve smith is viewed as a goat or hated by some Indians cause he has bullied India In test cricket the 2nd most number of times after England.

Infact India is the team that brought him back him into form. Even Pakistan's rubbish attack couldn't help smith but India did.

Fakhar has only performed against India once which is why pr machines don't back him.

Ps: Not saying smith is not a goat, he's clearly the greatest in test but pr machine has hyped him up sky high due to Indian propaganda

Lovely little segment, really enjoyed the gup shup.

Fakhar was in character telling jokes and making light hearted comments. Very different from how some portray him to be a loner and aloof

Try CT final wasn't his only stellar knock, he has produced several other noteworthy performances throughout his career. Some of those I recall are: 126* vs New Zealand in 2023 WC, his 193 runs against South Africa (2nd highest scorer was 31), and his 55* (32) in the 2021 T20 World Cup semifinal against Australia.

If you still perceive him as an inconsistent player, I respect your viewpoint. However, that's not the main point of discussion here. The issue is that one of the posters above claimed that he doesn't work hard and just relies on prayers for success, which is not true. He is a hard working played and an honest trier. And I don't find any issue with him requesting prayers from fans as fans praying for their teams and players is common.

And let's not generalise fans. Topspin has been critical of Pakistan cricket and doesn't belong to category of delusional Pakistan fans you are referring to.

Lo jee. Another deflection. So he doesn't have worthy "world-class" contributions either.

Look at following sequence of 3 pictures that epitomize his "hard work". That's why he needs "special prayers" to perform. On a cricket field.

I brought receipts to this discussion. You only insulted me for facts.

Fakhar kind of players shouldn’t be judged by stats.

He is an impact player. Can win you a game from anywhere and once set he is not a blind slogger like Afridi etc. he has a method to his game.

His innings in WT20-2021 semis should have been a match winning one and his knocks in CT final and Nzl game in WC are legendary.

seeing Pak resources these days, it’s borderline blasphemy to even criticize Fakhar.

His logic was that when they found some opposition bowler to be too easy, they intentionally didn't attack him early on during tuk-tuk phase so that they could strategically attack him when they would enter the attack phase.

It is a very old and uniquely Pakistani way of batting in LOI cricket.

So we used to purposely allow the crap bowler to bowl 2-3 overs of 7 or 8 runs? Only to score 15 off him in his last over?

So the crap bowler goes for 30-40 in his 4 overs whilst the good ones go for below 30.

Wow we are playing 3D chess with this strategy!

Always been a controversial way. Rizwan just shared a great insight to the mindset of Pakistan batters during chase. I don’t agree with the mindset just like you.

What’s important to note is that Rizwan thinks it’s ok to think like this when batting.

This guy is your ODI captain and was given T20 captaincy too. Is there any more doubt that this guy lives on another planet?

There are many things in Pakistan cricket that are not as per modern day sports and some of those things are a sensitivity topic also like Jamaat’s influence and all.l which is the case with Rizwan as well. Imam ul Haq said recently that Rizwan is practically the best leader in the team because he is the one coordinating for prayers and stuff.

What makes cricket great is we have someone like Ab Devillers, Rizwan,Gayle, Kohli, Williamson exist and have different flavors, different approaches.

Most people don’t like Karela, some people love it. I know someone who hates mangoes even though it is most beloved fruit in subcontinent.

Rizwan is an acquired taste. A lot of people thought Chanderpaul was boring too. It is what it is. As a cricket fan, I think he bring a new flavor to the game.

Oh jaa mama apna kaam Kar!

How do you wish to be taken seriously when you add Rizwan’s name next to the others?
Gayle played for a weak WI and once in a while used to play a blinder to win games.

Rizwan has match winning knocks against India, SA etc.

I am not comparing them, I am saying cricket needs different characters and Riz is a Street-fighter- I call him the warrior Monk. Brings his own unique flavor.

Rizwan is an acquired taste. A lot of people thought Chanderpaul was boring too.
Yaar kya bongiya maar raha eh?

How is Rizwan and Chanderpaul comparable???

Rizwan isn’t boring, he’s ridiculous! Just pure ridiculous! He’s not a batsman! He’s a guy with poor batting skills who can bat! You can send Naseem Shah at 4 and he will do a Rizwan every now and then!

Chanderpaul a completely different criteria of player! He’s a proper, Proper batsman!

Chanderpaul in the early 2010’s and late 2000s was the lone warrior many times. He used to survive, makes runs in his own unique way. 9/10 times the runs where useless but when WI won it was also due to his contribution.

Pak’s famous wins in recent times- chasing 350 + vs SA

Chasing 300+ vs SA in WC

152-0 vs India

Rare odi Series win in SA and Aus

Guess the common thread Batting/captaincy

Too many new posters desperately trying to make a name for themselves. But his reading of the game is there for everyone to see when he speaks highly of Misbah's innings in the 2011 World Cup game against India.

After Lara’s retirement a lot of them were stat padding knocks that didn’t go anywhere. However yes in tests Chanderpaul is ahead.

In white ball Rizwan is ahead.

So let me get this straight, Chanderpaul who avg 41 with 11 odi centuries in an era where 40 avg was considered the gold standard of a good batsmen is somehow worse then rizwan who happens to avg the exact same in an era where 40 avg is considered a joke?

Okay

Rizwan is practically the best leader in the team because he is the one coordinating for prayers and stuff.
Read: Coordination = Subjugation.

Everyone's on notice.

From sarfaraz's doctrine of "sajda kar" to rizwan's "namaz par". Warna.

Chanders was a solid solid test batter. A proper run machine in all formats.
