Hope he can light the world on fire!

Looks in good form based upon BBL exploits - needs to deliver at the international stage too.

Missed the match due to work but manage to find his spell highlights, bowled really well :)

I've been out of the cricket scene for a while, can anybody tell me why Aaquib Javed is handing out the cap? Is he involved with the team now? May Allah help us. First Misbah and now Aaquib. I think we are heading to number 9-10 rankings in all formats.

This gesture is probably the only highlight of this crap game. Aaqib picked Rauf in 2017 during Qalandars Gujranwala trial where he clocked 93 mph. Rauf was working in a medical store at that time and underweight. Aaqib mentored him and looked after him. He alongwith Rana brothers {Qalandars mgmt.} supported Rauf and picked him for LQ team where he did'nt disappoint.
Aaqib is not associated with the Pakistan team management but him being requested by the team to handover Pakistan national cap is a wonderful gesture, hope Haris delivers and meet their expectations.

Makes sense, thanks for the details. Credit should be given to Aaqib for unearthing and shaping up this talented cricketer.

Intelligent bowler.

Smart changes of line, length and pace make him difficult to gauge as a batsman.

What annoys me is Pakistan's coaches who identify talent ignored him, it took the big bash league to fast track him, waqar and the rest of the coaching staff are deluded

He must be in the plans for the 2023 world cup in India.
Bring him into odi cricket.

Nice comments by Hussey on Rauf:

"It's great that he started off his journey playing for the Melbourne Stars and now he's representing his country. I'm rapt for him, (he’s a) great person and hopefully we do get him back for The Qualifier.

"Whatever he does, I hope he actually represents Pakistan for 100 Tests and 400 T20s and 150 one day internationals. He's brought a different dynamic to our group, he's tried every game he's played, he fields his butt off and he's just fitted in the group perfectly."

Hopefully the selectors don’t get excited and pick Rauf for Tests

I really hope so. I feel that we have unearthed a bowler who can deliver for us in big games with real pace and heat. Have not seen anyone of this kind since Shoaib Akhtar, not in terms of express pace but more in terms of high pressure performance with passion and heart.

From what I have seen, PCB have a strange habit of picking the wrong fast bowlers for the wrong formats. I am happy for Naseem to be debuting at 16, but I am not happy with him sitting out against the T20s against Bangladesh. This is where he needs to get the exposure to international cricket and so he can enjoy the challenge of playing in a format more rewarding.

Hence in the case of Rauf, the guy clearly has a hunger for international cricket but I sincerely doubt he has a hunger for Tests. Please don’t get excited by his performances and select him for a format that will only wear him down as a pace bowler. He is already 26 years of age and will probably give us 7-8 years of 145kmh+, improving his skills with time and experience.

I love Test cricket but I am not a fan of stupid selections.

Pakistan think tank needs to look after their express fast bowlers like England, allowing there bowlers to bowl certain amount of overs per season:stokes
