[VIDEO] Haris Rauf loses composure and gets into a fight with a fan

Perfect opportunity for diversion tactics to be in full force to take away from the embarrassing timid performances.

Idiotic behavior from this fan has thrown them a rope to hold on to.

Unfortunately this is society these days. You'll see several incidents of swearing and abusing while on your commute in your car mostly road rage. Does not make it right in anyway shape or form.

Wonder if there will be tweets of support the next time a player abuses another player on the field.....

I wanna see essays the next time Kohli shouts "Ben Stokes" at someone.

First it was a saazish by Indians, now it's a political party. Next we'll be hearing it was the Illuminati or the like that was behind this outrage.
Um, isn’t this exact behavior being promoted and condoned by supporters of a particular political party?

They’re proud of it too usually.

Haris Rauf is not 'other' people. He is meant to be a professional athlete representing his country.

He is a public figure. If he doesn't like the limelight, he can retire.
because he's an professional athlete representing his country its ok for fans to ask him if his wife's up for sale?

2023 wc the same group of fans/players latched on to Babar WhatsApp chat leak

Looks like they are going to latch on to this incident for this debacle

InshaAllah Rizwan and Rauf both are denied visa or entry into India going forward for anything

Rauf can cry about Indian’s singling him out and Rizwan can write fancy tweets like “it is irrelevant if the country is India or Israel, a sportsman should be allowed entry into the country hosting an event”

Very easy for you to say that behind your screen but same way Haris was riled up by couple of words, you took out crucial minutes out of your life to share an opinion on someone who doesn’t even know you exist.

I think a lot don’t understand that this has probably builded up for many weeks, it’s absolutely normal to lose composure, it certainly isn’t the first time (Kayne West, Cantona, Hazard etc) these things happen.

This became personal when it was OFF the pitch, he wasn’t on national duty, this was done in front of his wife and abuses were made at his father. I fully back Haris here.

It doesn't matter if he was playing or not. You can't go and physically attack someone merely because they said a few mean words, and especially not in a country where freedom of speech is protected. Everyone who is even a little famous has to deal with such things. When that happens, normal people try to ignore it, calm themselves down, etc. Lunging at people and making racist remarks is certainly not a normal reaction.

His wife and father were not irreparably harmed just because some random passerby insulted him in front of them. If anything, his wife was trying hard to restrict him and didn't want him to start attacking people.

Rauf seems to think he’s still on the streets of Lahore and can beat someone up for saying something about his father. Pro athletes in the U.S. have faced far worse including racial slurs and don’t go out and attack anyone. You just ignore it and move on. This is what happens when you put people with no self awareness into the limelight. Our embarrassing players need extensive media training and sessions on how to behave in public. I don’t care what the fan said, he’s an idiot as well but hold yourself to a higher standard if you’re a pro cricketer.

This has got to be the weirdest fight I have seen.

He aggressively moved towards him hoping for guys half of his weight to hold him back. The fan/other guy stood his ground and carried on giving him verbals. Rauf still confused as to what to do

Harris Rauf went aggressively towards fan to beat him, but quickly realised they are 4….. after all he is thinking bowler

This kind of behavior is not acceptable from both sides. As a fan, you should respect the privacy of players. Haris was with his family so you should have avoided any confrontation at that moment.

Haris should have stayed composed at the time. There was no need for such aggression. Social media is can turn a simple thing into a fantasy fight and this type of aggression is s a huge feeder for all those keyboard warriors to make thing worse.

The worst insult for a pakistani is to be mistaken to be an indian. Rauf hit the fan below the belt with that comment and the fan would be questioning his existence since then.

One of the highlights of my life has been when a pakistani asked me, "aap pakistan se ho?" I replied, "nahi, hindostan se", beaming with pride to be mistaken to be a pakistani.

Nailed it.

Most of the tweets of support are related to the abuse of family or the abuse being in the presence of females.

It was considered normal behavior when growing up to not swear in front of a female or even confront people you had beef with when they were out with their wives/mothers.

I don't know how a game situation is comparable to what happened with Haris.

The whole of Pakistan has rallied around Haris but that miskeen fan will now be labeled as Indian wherever he goes. His friends will taunt him, when he enters a room people will laugh and say Indian a gya, it may even affect his chances of marriage.

It will be difficult to come back from this for him.

Looks like India lives rent free in Haris Rauf's head after the recent spankings. Can't blame him though.

It's just hilarious how Rauf and Rizwan managed to bring India into this totally unrelated matter lmao.

Abuse is abuse. If somebody swears at your mother/father/sister on the street, in a restaurant or on the field. The meaning of the word is the same.

Sadly those days are gone. The was a time when men wouldn't smoke in front of the older community. Now days girls pull their vapes out on the dinner table.

The way of society i'm afraid

You can't go and physically attack someone

What is the definition of physically attacking? Take a look at the video. At what point, where and when did the physical attack take place?

:rahi
Apparently GHQ is unhappy with the players and have given orders to Mohsin Naqvi to tighten the screws around the team and the players. Let's see what happens, plenty of speculation in the media

- The PCB is now going to strictly enforce the 2 + PSL T-20 league policy where the PCB still reserves the right to refuse permission to players on account of form, discipline

- Babar's removal as captain

- Crackdown on Saya Corporation and limiting the number of players an agent can sign

- Strict enforcement on fitness, nutrition standards for the players

- Issuing strict instructions to players to prioritize Pakistani domestic cricket

- Demoting under performing players in central contracts

Did he ever apologize for his performance in wc11, wt20 2014 semi or wc 15 quarterfinal?

It's still their overall responsibility to what gets posted from their official account.

This is getting really ugly now.

It seems fan said something personal to Haris, infront of his wife - to which Haris reacts and tries to approach him physically.

Haven’t seen fans/players divided like this before.
This happened in US. Just imagine what's in store for them once they return to Pakistan.

US justice system does not care about provocation.

Whoever would had punched first, US justice system would had bankrupted that person.

90% of the people (cricketer and fans) are supporting the reaction of Rauf by showing sympathy and endorsing what he did. Yet to see one cricketer that says how Rauf reacted was more problematic.

The fact that even the chairman saw no issue in this, just shows how much deep trouble PCB could be in future

If every single Pakistani cricketer thinks how Rauf reacted is alright, than i hope we never get to play cricket again in USA.

He did not punch the fan though. He got angry and just displayed his anger. You are right about the civil lawsuits in the US but they dont mean an automatic payout. Its a fairly long process and the person would need to find a lawyer willing to take up the case on a no win no fee basis.

More than a civil case, Rauf's bigger worry was criminal charges because he would never been able to enter the US and most developed countries if convicted of assault in the US

I've seen lots of these videos where celebrities push fan or paparazzi. Do they always go to court?

Its not very common, at least not as common as people makes it out to be. More often than not, the lawyer determines if there is something worth pursuing and then sends a letter threatening legal action . If the action was indeed very violent , then usually both parties negotiate and settle even before the matter gets to court because legal fees is very very high in the US

But judges also know that people file frivolous lawsuits in order for payouts, so they throw them out very early. But of course that cant be guaranteed

No its not. No one is promoting abuse.

Have you not seen all those videos where followers of this political party go on to heckle and abuse their political opponents? Who were just going about their day in their personal lives?

All such videos were and are still celebrated by the cult followers of this political party.

Our so-called superstars can't handle criticism but only know how to be aggressive on fans rather than performs aggressive on oppositions. You should be dropped after 2021 World Cup but your friends drag you to 2024 (so far). Fans shouldn't say that but you shouldn't bring Indians to justify and hide your pathetic performances.

Its alrite, Rauf can talk about this incident on 67 different podcasts while telling the story of how Lahore Qalandars found him.

You mentioned this exact behavior. I am yet to come across a video where a PTI supporter, without any instigation, abused a politician’s family and people supported that.

Btw, Calling someone corrupt is not the same as abusing someone’s family.

You also mentioned that this behavior is taught by Imran Khan. Please provide evidence of where he encouraged his supporters to abuse others.

Lastly, if you think heckling politicians only started after the emergence of PTI, you are either acting naive to push your agenda or have been living under a rock. The kind of malicious campaign that Jemima went through is well documented. The kind of low level slurs that Benazir faced from political rivals is also well known.

So, no need to give this whole thing a political spin just because you don’t like a political party.

Might improve his employability prospects though (y)

Have to say Hardik Pandya handled all the abuse during IPL like a champ. This fans abusive behavior especially with women around shows his upbringing but ability to soak up abuse and pressure is also a quality of a sportsman. Rauf wilted under very little pressure here.

I am just so glad it wasn't some dumb Indian guy, we would have heard statement from Pakistani parliament and even at the UN :p .
Exactly, I thought the same so glad it isn’t an Indian guy if not they would forgotten about his last ball 4 to a Kumar.

Pakistanis always talked about Miandad’s last ball six, I’ll
make sure the Kumar’s last ball 4 is mentioned along same lines now lol

Lol. If that's the case, then 9 out of 10 Pakistanis in the West are insulted every day. :)

Works both ways unfortunately. While the white brits might smile and nod politely when you explain you are Indian and not Pakistani, the first thought going through their head will be "wish this P___ would shut up.."

Criticism for performances, lack of fitness & lack of commitment to the team is perfectly fine.

That is the limit fans should follow.

Going after players families & loved ones is stretching WAY too far.

I find this weird where everyone is making it seem like they were attacking his family..
I’m certain many players speak like this as well, will that be considered “going after their families too”?

I agree fan was wrong to say what he did, but noway are they “going after their families”..

Haris seems to be losing composure everywhere - on the field, off the field etc

The guy needs to be dropped for his own mental well being.

indeed!

He seems a bit lost to me most of the time. He could have handled this situation in a better way but still decided to go for chaos.

Pakistani fans can be complete idiots. Imagine as a grown man abusing someone because they have lost some games of cricket.
I really feel that the fans shouldn't be judged and be called idiots. The current state of the general Pakistani fan has to be in the upset zone all the time. Pakistan as a country is disrespected across the globe and Pakistan's who travel abroad do get maligned and have lesser opportunities (even in rich muslim majority countries) just because they are Pakistani. Thanks to their screwed up government, their military, their policies around deviously politicizing religion just for personal power and financial gains. They used to be proud of their cricketers and it gave them something to cheer about in otherwise a stressful livelihood. There arch rivals India and even Bangladesh have caught up economically and have raced on and have had a better reputation. If I was a Pakistani I would be no different since I would look at my cricket and the cricketers to uplift my sagging spirits which clearly isn't happening now.

According to media reports, T20 captain Babar Azam, Shadab Khan, and several others from the team, who extended their stay in the US despite their elimination in the tournament's league stage, have reduced their public interactions. They are now choosing to meet only with acquaintances.

It was planned by Saya Corp, not the cricketers
Only my doubt about that incident is that there are 3 fans.Only middle one who abused did not wear green shirt and rest two have wore them.So how come Harris taught abuser is an Indian in middle of Pakistanis looked idiotic to me.

Ahmed Shahzad said that the players should be apologising to fans instead of sharing posts backing Haris Rauf:

"While we fully condemn what happened to Haris Rauf, it is also important that the posts put up by the players in support of Haris should be taken away from the fans due to his poor performance in the World Cup. It should have been as an apology,"

"It would be good if these players would apologize to the nation, if these players would be ashamed and if these players would return to Pakistan instead of spending holidays in America, England or Dubai. These posts by the players should not change the narrative and the fans should get answers for the poor performances of the players.

"Accountability is very important now. The same group of players have not won anything for our country in the last five years and they have kept prioritizing personal milestones rather than the collective success of Pakistan,"
