I recently found out donating blood has health benefits.

Have you donated blood before?

A friend of mine donates blood regularly. However, I have never done it before.

Seeing there are many health benefits, I am thinking of trying it. :inti

One of my friend after blood donation gained substantial weight , not sure what was the reason , another one after donation got fever and tiredness for couple of weeks . Though he was deemed healthy before donation

Yes I donate.

A shia friend actually got me into it. He donated during Mubarak to commemorate martyrdom of Imam Hussain and I joined him.

I booked for blood donation next Saturday but chickened out and canceled it. LOL.

Anyway, may do it a few days later. I have never done it before. Want to give it a try.

That's strange.

I don't think blood donation caused weight gain. Weight gain probably happened for other reasons.

It is a very easy and rewarding thing to do. Saving one life can give you the reward of saving whole of humanity. The trick to ease your fears is to try not to look at the blood coming out.

Yes.

After I give it once, I think I should be fine next time. First time often causes nervousness.

Anyway, my blood type is B+. It is a very common blood.

I have done it multiple times. My blood group is O -ve. I often get requests from my HR / collogues for blood donation. It just weakens you for a day but will be normal after a day or two.

Its the least we can do for someone in need. May be we will receive help when we need later. Its all good Karma.

Blood donation is something for good of fellow humans. One can do that safely every 3 months. I kinda do it about twice a year. But never .. NEVER have I heard these pseudo-scientific claims. Sounds like straight out RFK Jr. playbook.
Benefits are negligible for the donor compared to the minor risks involved, that's why you have to be healthy to be able to donate blood.

If your blood is not healthy, You SHOULD NOT BE DONATING IN THE FIRST PLACE. If a person is claiming positives of "Blood letting" as an example, RUN FROM THAT QUACK. Blood donation is a simple charity which costs almost nothing and you get a free juice and fruit, and maybe half a day off from office (if your company has such a policy)

Nice.

Yes. It is a nice feeling to help others I guess (along with health benefits).

What do you eat and drink after the blood donation? Any specific food/drink?

Iron rich foods are something everyone suggests. Personally, as the impact is very less, I go about with my normal good.

I eat fruits more and drink water / juices. That helps a lot. They doesn't feel heavy on the tummy.
