While I agree that senior player power needs to be curbed, I don't believe granting a captain more powers is the way. Especially in Pakistan as we are constantly playing musical chairs with captaincy. At some point these guys play under each other. Gone are the days of strong captains, especially now with franchise cricket being so popular. A captain has lots of other responsibilities (such as on field tactics, fielding placements, bowling changes etc) that they shouldn't have to be involved in selection politics. The whip should solely be with team management

I don’t think that’s the case here cause Malik and Babar are very good friends and Babar actually insisted that they bring Hafeez and mailk back after Misbah came in and dropped them for shehzad and akmal. Misbahs stance was that only one of Hafeez and Malik should play while Babar wanted both. Babar also wanted Imad and Wahab in the squad but they weren’t picked. Hence there was news in the media that babar wasn’t happy with Mohammed Wasim when Nawaz was picked ahead of Imad.

The Pakistan fans you see on Pakpassion are not your average delusional and clueless cheerleader for the men in green. They are a bit more sophisticated than that because they are actually knowledgably and have the ability to think objectively. To compare them to Trump and Modi fans is not a false analogy but an insult to Pakistan fans on this forum.

I'll give you a brief timeline as to why Misbah is disliked so much by posters:

2011 - Mohali enough said
2013 - Lost to a minnow Zimbabwe team and was the main culprit for Pakistan's horror show in the 2013 CT
2015 - Poor WC
2016 - Worst captain in a series played in Australia
2019 - Went behind Mickey Arthur's back merely to serve his own self-interests despite not having the experience or any relevant qualifications to take up the Head Coach responsibility.

and to this day Pakistan continues to rot due to his presence. The 80% of those who voted against his appointment saw this coming based on his appalling track record and his substandard cricketing IQ.

I think he genuinely believes that he is still good enough to play for Pakistan and that is probably endorsed when he sees the likes of Asif Ali in the team.

Nothing wrong with the age as long as you are performing but Shoaib Malik's performances declined years ago. However right now Pakistan has a huge hole in the middle order. By making Babar Open they have made middle order very weak. Now experiments like Asif Ali and Iftikhar have failed, they don't know how to fix it. Pakistan should have kept consistent performers like Imad in the team and given more chances to players like Talat and Sohaib etc. Giving so many chances to non-players like Asif Ali has made this situation worse.

Speaking exclusively to ARY News, Malik said a strong team builds only with a blend of young and experienced cricketers.

“I think a strong team is only built when it includes senior players. For me, this team needs Amir, Wahab, and Imad,” he said,

Remember, Amir has taken retirement from cricket citing like and dislike culture in the team whereas Wahab has shown himself available for only shorter formats. However, Imad is available for selection in all formats.

On the other hand, Malik blames team management for selecting the team on the basis of like and dislike. “Players are selected on the basis of like and dislike. I am not against anyone but we have seen this a lot of times,” he said.

“Misbah got two posts despite the fact that he wasn’t ready for coaching,” he added.

Meanwhile, Malik once again said he is ready to play this year’s T20 World Cup. “I am really looking forward to playing T20 World Cup this year. In fact, I am working really hard to prepare myself for this challenge,” he concluded.

Malik is talking like he's back in the team already that too after taking a swipe at Misbah and openly backing the out of favour Amir!

His attitude is just insane. It's like he thinks he's doing Pakistan a favour by gracing the number 4 spot with his presence.

What kind of culture is this where the players openly disrespect the coach n selector and whilst out of the team expect to be picked for a tournament?

This statement from malik is shameful In most other teams and sports this would be suicidal and the end of a players career with that team

Agreed. I'd much rather have a player with Malik's experience who can navigate tough situations and take on the spinners at will, as opposed to these guys whose game is riddled with so many basic flaws.
