Well let’s see because SL have 4 lefties (Karunaratne, Thirimanne, Perera and Dickwella) in their Top 7.

Pakistan has two choices.

Play [Haris + Bilal], or [Iftikhar + Zafar].

The clown Tauseef Ahmed didn't help either. He kept picking his favourites. He probably has something against Zafar.

If thats the option then Ifti + Zafar any day. Iftikhar will be fine in home conditions. Though I think Haris can also play easily and he has shown decent game in sub continental conditions.

Look at the way he sets up and bats. The guy can become a genuine all rounder for sure. Would be criminal if he isn’t selected for the next Test squad. He provides a lot more as an overall package than the likes of Nauman and Kashif Bhatti.

He has been a pretty handy run-getter for CP this season. Contributed more than some 'specialists'.

I don't know what more Zafar has to do to get into the side. He's a quality wicket taking bowler, handy batsman and a solid fielder. He's not knocking on the door for selection anymore, he is deserving of a spot in the team now.
 
Included in camp at NCA, hopefully means he is in the reckoning for selection going forward.
 
We really need a full time spinning option so hope he does well

This innings also shows he should be in the ODI team over Shadab. Zafar can actually hit a ball.

Seems he is giving too.much importance to his batting and his bowling might be suffering had a shocker with the ball in the final.
0-194 makes his 99 completely redundant.
 
Replace Yasir Shah with Bilal Asif or Zafar Gohar in Test cricket.

Great that ISLU are playing him today.

Combination is set. We were lacking in spin department. He seems to have done really well today.
 
Is a really clever bowler. Would love to see him in the national team.

Zafar probably won't play for PAK in near future, or as long as Misbah is in charge. Misbah in duel role, doesn't trust Gohar and that's clearly evident in PSL - he didn't play this guy for the pace bowling of Faheem, Amad!!!!!!!
 
Should have been playing international cricket for years. One of the great injustices of Pakistan cricket that mediocre players like Bilal Asif and grandpas like Kashif Bhatti have been selected over him
 
This guy is really extremely talented I can't believe those bits and pieces players like shadab and Imad have played tons of matches but this guy hasn't gotten proper chance yet.i hope he gets his chance in future.

Saeed Ajmal: There is no doubt that Zafar is an excellent bowler who has performed really well in domestic cricket but the problem we had in the PSL was that we had to play an emerging player and already had a decent spinner in the shape of Shadab Khan. So, we had to hold Zafar back, but whenever we gave him a chance, he performed really well. Looking beyond PSL, I would say that being a finger-spinner, Gohar has a great chance of making it to the Pakistan side as he could be an invaluable option in Tests. Currently, we only have Yasir Shah as our main spin bowler in Tests, but a finger spinner could play a very important role in the Pakistan bowling attack.

He's in England and had no idea he was going to be asked to join the cakp - only found out about it today after it was announced.

He has scored 1 ton in his FC career, but you are right, he is a very useful batsman.

He averaged 32.71 and scored 1 ton and 2 fifties as a lower order batsman in this years QEA FC competition.
 
Update: Cliffe Deacon and Zafar Gohar test negative for COVID-19 and both are allowed to join the training in Worcestershire.

Should have been in the initial squad to begin with. Hopefully gets moved to the playing party rather than the preparation party. He could be very useful for Pakistan.
 
This guy should have been included in the original squad.

He keeps performing consistently in domestic cricket and is now basically being regarded as a net bowler.

A young left arm spinner, taking wickets, capable No.8 batsman with potential to bat higher and tremendous fielder. Has had excellent performances in the many previous seasons and at the ripe age of 24/25 a long term prospect.

YET!!! Can't find a place in the line-up or squad. He is right now being considered a net bowler :facepalm:

Lol Misbah will play Zafar when he’s 29-32 calling for his experience.
 
Well, that didn't last long. Zafar Gohar has departed from the Pakistan squad as others including Kashif Bhatti will be joining up soon.

I learn that Zafar Gohar was in fact picked for Pakistan once but missed his Pakistan -> UAE flight as he overslept. He hasn't been considered since.

He and Imad can play together they bowl differently

Pak can play a bowling lineup of Amir, Shaheen, Rauf, Shadab, Imad, Zafar

Zaf would play ahead of a pacer on slow surfaces

Don't think you need 2 left arm spinners in the same team. I don't see us dropping Imad. I think Gohar has a lot more potential in his bowling in 50 over cricket than Imad.

Imad will be retained in T20 cricket but yeah like you said, Gohar should be the left arm spinner in the 2023 world cup.

It might be best to move on from Imad. Seeing his innings in the NT20 Semis, he hurt his knee again. Did the same thing in the WC vs Afg. The dude is a good player, but he does not have an athlete's body. Especially in ODIs, if he cannot last for more than 10 balls then he should not be in the team. Faheem has been doing well recently, I would prefer him for the power-hitter role.

Zafar is an excellent player. Best spinner in Pakistan and aside from that, he can bat very well and is a decent fielder. SHould start in ODIs and Tests.

For the next ODI WC, I would play a bowling attack of Zafar, Shadab, Shaheen, Rauf, Amir/Shinwari, Faheem/Talat

They may play both imad and shadab in odis and qadir and gohar in t20s or 1 experienced and 1 inexperienced in one or the other format.

Qadir has been better in the national cup I think and it looks like he can actually turn the ball.as for gohar he should defo lead the spin attack.imad always had fitness issues he even failed a test but kept on playing
 
Chance to play for Pakistan in the final ODI vs Zimbabwe - brought in as replacement for Imad Wasim.
 
Hope he starts and takes this opportunity. The Imad-Shadab spin duo isn't good enough to unsettle top teams so we must begin investing in quality spinners especially given the 2023 WC is in India.
