[VIDEO] "If batsmen had been sensible, used their brains, could've got 2 off last ball" : Sarfaraz
I fully agree with him, there´s no chance on earth that a dropped catch on the boundary shouldn´t have resulted in a couple, no way! But I´m really not liking Sarfraz´s reaction in the public. First he literally took down Hamza with his words on the boundary and then such a statement was uncalled for. You need to be able to control your emotions as a captain. He needs to develop some tolerance for his players. The more you chastise them like this the more fear these youngsters will develop of failure and hence more mistakes will happen.
Obviously, what kind of made the batsmen reluctant in their running was first the attention driven towards it going straight down to the throat of the fielder, and then of course the thought or hope that the misfield might or might already have rolled onto the fence. Either way, with three required of one, two to tie, your only focus should be to just run and run. I haven´t seen any video of the scenes surrounding the pitch, but the reactions suggest that Mir Hamza was the main culprit. Poor guy. He´ll learn of course. I feel for Dawson too who almost turned from Peshawar´s ultimate hero through his batting into a villain through his bowling. His bowling in the last over was, well, very poor.
But,... what hitting by Anwar Ali! A breath-taking assault that which could´ve been the ultimate heist in the history of the PSL, but sadly not to be. I watched the match as a neutral and just wanted a thriller for the passionate Lahore crowd, who didn´t get much of a contest in the final last year, so I had my wish fulfilled, but I cannot hide my grief for Quetta. They´ve now twice been unlucky in back to back seasons due to foreign players missing out on the big stage, and then to lose a nail-biter like this due to a stupid mistake must´ve hurd them badly. It would´ve been a great win with such a second string team. So I feel for them and I hope they find a solution next season to this problem of theirs - of foreign players pulling out of big matches held in Pakistan. One solution of course is to be smart at the auction.
Either way, well done to both the teams!
As a side note, just how lovely was the Tendulkar-like reception that Sammy got when he walked out to bat. Pakistan loves this man! He deserves it of course.
