[VIDEO] "India will deliberately lose to SL and BAN to oust Pakistan from the World Cup" : Basit Ali

Basit was wrong. India or should I say Dhoni deliberately lost to England no doubt about it whatsoever. This man who hits sixes for fun with his eyes closed was playing defensive shots in the last five overs or something. This is why it was brilliant to see him crying when walking off the field against New Zealand, he deserved that. It was divine justice that a cheat like him's last match in the WC end in a way that he is bought to tears. I have lost complete respect for this cheat now.

Amen to that. You reap what you sow.

Basit Ali, who created a furore during the World Cup by claiming India will deliberately lose to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, is facing action from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Mirror has learnt that the PCB has communicated to the former Pakistan batsman that he will not be required to be part of the PCB’s coaching staff.

“We have communicated to him our displeasure about his unsubstantiated comments during the World Cup. He is not an employee of the PCB but we have made our point clear to him,” PCB chairman Ehsan Mani told Mirror yesterday. Ali, 48, was the chairman of the junior selection committee recently. He has been doing part-time coaching for the PCB teams in Karachi.

With Pakistan needing India to beat teams to have a chance to qualify for the semi-finals, Ali made some controversial claims. “India have played only five matches so far and they would never want Pakistan to qualify for the semi-final. India’s remaining matches are against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, and everyone saw the way they played against Afghanistan,” he said and then went on to add, “They’ll play in a way where you won’t know if they’re losing on purpose. What happened against Afghanistan? What did Australia do against India? Warner saab yehi the na (This was the same Warner, no?).”

When contacted, Ali said he has not received any communication from the PCB. “I have not received any letter from the PCB. If I get any notice, I will inform you,” he said, stating that he doesn’t regret the comments.

“Everyone has seen how India played against England. Sourav Ganguly, Nasser Hussain and Waqar Younis have also made remarks on the way India played. When Basit Ali makes such remarks no one takes notice,” an unrepentant Ali said.

The Indian team was criticised for the way they handled the chase against England. MS Dhoni was particularly dissed by the experts during and after the match for not going for shots when India needed fast runs. Chasing 338, India finished 306 for five, the 31-run win giving England much-needed lifeline in the mustwin match. An Indian would have been in Pakistan’s interest.

About time this man was put into his place. Still remember how he threatened to commit suicide if Younis khan wasnt selected in ODI team. These kind of people should be nowhere near the cricketing set up.

Is he still hold on coaching position? PCB will never learn.

Basit's fears getting some back up from what Stokes is saying about the England v India game?

lol he named two teams and still didnt manage to get one right.

No way was India going undefeated in the group stage, we aren't a patch on Lloyd's West Indies or 2003/07 Australia. 7-1 was the ceiling for this bunch, that loss against eventual winners, I think it is logical.

I think, IND showed the predictable trend in the WC, for an aged side - something I wrote in preview. They started brilliantly with a settled & experienced team but gradually started to lose steam, eventually was poor in the first KO situation they faced. That MSD & Jadeja's fluke partnership actually had hidden how poor IND played in the SF, but this was coming - they struggled against AFGs, made to sweat defending 300+ against BD, looked lethargic against Poms. If it was a 2015 format, this IND team could have done better, but 11 games in 6 weeks .... the squad was too aged, single dimensional and limited for options.

I remember that preview of yours, you got it absolutely spot on. Even though we were winning matches in the latter part of league stage something was off, we lost steam by then and we had our tougher matches in the first half, otherwise we wouldn't have topped the league.
