[VIDEO] Jaahid Ali - Potential Test opener

unless he improve his technique he is not a international materiel

this can be his stance to slog in the final overs, because the time he came in was very late for an opener....one thing i can make out from his stance is that it will help him not to give an outside-off edge to slips.. why i say this is because he has opened his hip in the stance and perfect position to slog both on off and leg side and also this stance will help to counter the outswinger.. this is the minor change that kohli did after the disastrous english summer as per sachin's advise in tests to counter outswinger... If he is good off his pads, he would have no trouble with this stance i guess..

Has anyone got a video of his batting rather than still shots of his stance? Which btw looks perfectly acceptable facing a left arm bowler over the wicket or right arm off spinner around the wicket.

very good observation may be i am wrong

Can you tell me how to determine a Batsmen's technique from still pictures? We can see "stance" but how do you tell technique from pictures?

Thanks

i watch him live on tv and he was struggling against fast bowlers and if you sir watch him on tv you will

get my point

80 today for Jaahid Ali and innings was only ended by a run out. Must be frustrating for him as a big century could have put him in the frame for Pakistan selection.

He is another one of those darpok batsmen. We seem to be producing them by the truck load recently.

Where is Jihad Ali?

I remember the English tour by our A team 2-3 year ago, in which Fakhar Zaman and Jihad Ali opened in 4 day matches and one day matches. Fakhar was not that successful but Jihad Ali made the most of the opportunity. Is this guy going to be the new 'Sadaf Hussein" or will be added to the lost talent that just never made it to the top while some players had luxury of saying that "give me chances in as many positions to see where he can click".

One of our "Wicked" Keeper willing to come back as "batsman" is almost reminiscent to Wasim Akram saying that at age of 36 he can restart his career as a spinner. By the way that wicked keeper had also flopped as a opening batsman when re inducted in the team against west Indies.

Please play PSL and then respectfully retire.

He has had a couple of poor FC seasons.

Currently playing Grade II for Karachi Region where his scores include 106, 33*, 58, and 23. http://www.pakpassion.net/ppforum/s...Azam-Trophy-Patron-s-Trophy-Discussion-Thread

So I met Jaahid Ali today. He was playing against Radlett 1st XI on the main pitch, I was playing against Radlett 3rd XI on the pitch adjacent to it, went over to get the drinks and saw him, spoke to him for a bit, he didn't do too good today but was a very nice guy. His English was pretty good. One day hopefully he plays for Pakistan :)

Scored 65 from 96 balls for KRL, with KRL winning vs FATA by 7 wickets

I hope this guy gets selected for Pakistan, because I have seen him in person if you see already in this thread and I spoke to him, will be able to say I have spoken to an International cricketer.

:)

Jaahid Ali is on 123* for KRL. Likely to be a very important innings in this match as they only had a first innings lead of 4 runs.

So which part of these stats did KK see and think 'he will make a great pick for a T20 league'???

Pakistan management/think tank specialise in selecting players in the wrong format. Surely his selection is political.

Some of these franchises have some really daft selectors or advisers when it comes to the drafts. You’d think after 3 seasons they would’ve developed some experience and acumen but we continue to see some laughable picks.
Only IU has a decent team behind the scenes making some good selections.

Since Mr Revolution is selecting test team on the basis of t20 performances, this guy has a chance to make it to the test XI after PSL. :tahir2

Surprising to seem him picked over Mukhtar Ahmed and Zeeshan Malik

Jahid Ali scored 123 off 179 balls as Sindh posted a first innings score of 436 for four against Northern 368 at the State Bank Stadium, Karachi on the second-day of the seventh-round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy matches on Monday.

Opener Jahid’s innngs included 11 fours and a six.

Was looking at his stroke play he definitely seems to have improved that considering what his domestic SR suggests.

I remember he had a decent A tour in 16 to England but unfortunately no one apart from Sharjeel,Hassan, and Babbar from that side got a look in even Saud did well ut never got a chance

Okay, hear this out everyone. This guy has NEVER played a t20 match in his life. His FC strike rate is 36 and in list A it is a pathetic 69.

Yet he has been picked by a PSL side. Some really deserving players like Mukhtar Ahmed, Zeeshan Malik and Omair Yousuf continue to miss out. Unbelievable!!

That's Lahore for you.

His PSL selection for consecutive years is one of the most farcical decisions in Pakistan cricket history.

Jahid Ali’s unbeaten half-century today in the 2nd XI QeA (Jahid Ali 55 not out)
