Sri Lanka spinner Akila Dananjaya would have been on cloud nine having claimed a brilliant hat-trick in the first T20 International (T20I) against West Indies in Antigua. However, his fortunes turned very quickly, as the hosts' captain Kieron Pollard smashed him for six sixes off his very next over in one of the most dramatic U-turns in cricket.

Pollard became only the second batsman to achieve the feat in T20Is and the third in international cricket. While Herschelle Gibbs was the first to do it in an ODI against Netherlands, Yuvraj Singh had smashed England's Stuart Broad for six maximums in the 2007 T20 World Cup.

With West Indies off to a rapid start at 52/0 in 3.1 overs, Dananjaya dismissed Evin Lewis, Chris Gayle and Nicholas Pooran in successive deliveries to stall West Indies' momentum.

However, as he came back to bowl the sixth over, West Indies captain Kieron Pollard took him to the cleaners.

The first delivery of the over disappeared over cow corner. The second was powered straight to the sight-screen. Pollard targeted long-off on the third delivery and went over deep midwicket for the fourth.

This was the most Brutish.. Yuvraj one was stylish. Gibbs also I would say powerful..

No one really talks about Broad conceding 6 sixes anymore considered his achievements in Test cricket since.

Most bowlers would happily concede 6 sixes in a T20 match if they could end up with 600+ Test wickets.

If you look at his bat speed and back lift, you will notice that he merely pushes the ball. There is no wild swing and no force. He gives the ball a little tap and the ball sails over the stadium roof.
Not sure what kinda power and timing is this?

His smash factor, i.e. ratio of ball speed to bat speed/swing speed is very high. His hitting “looks” effortless but he accelerates through the ball extremely well.

It is the same concept of how certain golf players appear to have effortless looking swings but are able to drive the ball well over 300 yards. It is all about efficiency.

Pollard is one of the best ball strikers to have ever played the game. He could have been a serious player in all formats but he was too focused on T20 cricket.

In six # 5, the ball is not there to be hit for a six. It's high and outside of the stump, so he quickly puts in some footwork to make room and to connect the ball in the sweet spot. In that short, I do see some effort.

The rest of strokes seem as if he is in nets giving catching practice to the fielders on thirty yard circle.

# 3 is mind boggling. You will feel he would be caught at mid-off as it looks a mistimed shot that has hit high on the blade.

I think there is a general rule of striking a balance between using a heavy bat and compromising on bat speed and compromising on timing the ball, versus using a lighter bat and being able to time the ball.

He seems to have gotten the best of both worlds. He uses a heavy bat and finds the sweet spot, supported by great timing.
No wonder these sixes look effortless.
He doesnt even seem to playing a match. He makes it look like net practice.
