Muhammad Abbas did not feature against Australia A in Perth because of a tooth infection, while Imran dismantled a star-studded 'A' team with 5-32 from 12 overs in the first innings.

"He’s a very smart bowler. He knows what he’s doing," Waqar said of Abbas.

"He reminds me a bit of Glenn McGrath. He bowls that channel really well.

"He’s been in great form last time Pakistan played Australia, but those pitches were very different. I hope he adapts quickly."

What do you think? Do you agree with Waqar's assessment of Muhammad Abbas?

Asif is the closest to Mcgrath. Stuart Clark for a very very brief period bowled like him. Munaf Patel had identical action of Mcgrath. That's where the comparison ends lol.

Avishkar Salvi, former Mumbai and India bowler used to bowl with a McGrath like action. Was super excited to see him burst on the scene that finally we have our own McGrath, lol.

However he evaporated at an even faster rate.

Abbas Mcgrath, Babar Kohli, Asad Tendulkar, Shaheen Akram, Yasir Warne....oh yeah... this series is going to be a piece of cake.

He bowls that channel just like McGrath but Pidge was 6 inches taller , atleast 7 kph quicker on average and could crank it up even more and reverse the ball at pace when necessary. Better bouncer as well. The likes of philander, Asif, Abbas, Clark , Pollock are not in the same class.

Richard Hadlee also comes in same category, hadlee was better than names you mentioned but hadlee vs McGrath will be difficult to choose of which one is better.

Yeah. He probably comes the closest . Of currently active cricketers , Hazelwood is the closest.

Shabbir Ahmad of Pakistan also had an identical action to that of McGrath

People are slitting their wrists and self-loathing over a harmless statement.

Good.

Why am I not surprised.

Abbas has Jake Carder out bowled in the CA XI v PAK practice match.

The weird thing about PPers is that they do not think Abbas is an automatic selection!!
Saying things like only abbas or Imran. They are not competing. Abbas starts if fit. End of

Just like Shehzad is better than Tendulqar and Umar Akmal is better than Kohli. Our players don't know how to compare apple with apple.

You forgot Sarfraz as Dhoni and Fahim Klusener

Ok think this comparison joke posts we have done plenty

Best to offer concrete views for the rest of the thread -thanks

I always want to be positive when there is any tiny bit of hope. Can't expect a 2 cylinder car can compete with racing cars
