After speding time with Jamaat

Pouncing on the illiteracy of the common man by using pseudo religion. Mr Mughal does the same thing here but hopefully I have put an end to that.

But i know of really educated and rich people that follow these preachers.

True. Me too, My mother has a really big following among the rich and educated, even a couple of very, very prominent UK politicians who I will not name here of course.

I suppose I was referring to the illiteracy regarding the masses and with these rich/educated types its just to have some hope to achieve more in life. Even the non rich and educated need hope (more than everyone else) and I did not want to make a sweeping generalization but these pseudo religious types do feed on the illiterate and those who are desperate and have no where to turn, which I think is even worse and despicable.

But i know of really educated and rich people that follow these preachers.

Also I see that ad on Willow everyday about that Prem Jyotish guy who is conning a half a million Indian Americans, not to mention that Motorycle Baba dude under investigation atm. I guess illiteracy comes in many forms and it is human nature, culture ( and childhood brainwashing) that makes them believe/worship these frauds.

Pakistan doesn't hold a candle to India when it comes to Farzi Babas. We are literally infested with them. Latest to go to prison was Sant Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.

Thats the one I was talking about when I said the Motorcycle Baba.

Look at his gut, looks like a baby in diapers. :))

I however do remember the riots upon his hearings.

We just cannot move forward with this desi mentality.

I always used to do a runner when I saw the Tableegi Jamat types.... I remember during my uni days these mullah types were always doing "God's work" trying to go after all "Muslim brothers" so that they don't get themselves involved in the "fahash" world offered by a North American uni.

That's a seen from his movie in which he starred himself. Messanger of God was the title of film.
 The trailer is the most cringe worthy thing I have ever seen in my life.

I was forced to do a chilla (40 days of Tableegh when younger) and ever since I developed a hate for it, going to disturb people when that was the last thing they needed, like a Muslim version of the Jehovas witnesses, I got bored of it and quit when I was old enough.

Then came the phase when other tableeghis came to me citing some random crap like there was an an earthquake somewhere and the onll structure left standing was a mosque and other **. Their main mistake was when they started quoting actual scripture of which I had actual and even better knowledge of.

Got rid of them in a matter of minutes and more importantly they never returned.

A lot of uneccesasry criticism about TJ here. If a priest obtains wealth, he is corrupt. If he does not, he is a fraud. They are in a lose-lose situation. This man does not promote violence or disorder but love and respect to our neighbors. I have had very close relatives meet him up close and have discussions with him. The problem with those on both sides are they go to an extreme. They do not seek formlessness. Preaching atheism or religion is fine as long as it does not hurt anyone. Yet both sides push beyond the line of control. This utopian thought of peace and harmony is not practical. Look around and get a clue. The world is built as Bismarck said, by blood and iron. So stay awake within your drowsy sleep.

OMG, now I'm worried about him. Amir , please stay away from Moulvis . Well done Inzi, that's what you're doing now with the team ??? 80% of Pakistan's problems created by these moulvis.

Don't blame inzi, pakistani players were gravitating to the TJ even before he became a selector. Mushtaq Ahmed and Shahid Afridi are also followers of this TJ guy.

Inzi was the captain during that time. Post 2003 WC, he was made captain until his retirement in the 2007 WC. During this time, we saw Afridi and Co. becoming more religious. This was also the first instance of saying terms such as “Alhamdulillah” in post match ceremonies. Eventually the team concentrated more on lectures than training. This led to an early WC exit in 07’.

I know but after he left players still got religious, can't blame one man for this phenomenon that has been happening among south asian muslims.

South Asian Muslims? Take it easy. It’s been a gradual influence since Maulana Maududi. As for Amir, maybe he just wants to enjoy some spiritual awakening. Nothing to worry about here. Religion in Pakistan is not the problem, it’s the way it is being used. Learn to see the good in everything. It will save you a lot of hair and blood pressure pills later on in life. :)

This is starting to get annoying. The Tableeghi Jamaat people start out very pious; "Be good to people", "We are all one", "Religion does not matter" and then they turn into tyrannical beasts saying things like, "He is a blasphemer, deserves to be killed" and that very Tom, Dick and Harry is Wajib-ul-Qatal.

Wish this culture did not exist Pakistan.

With all of its problems; overpopulation, corruption, dictatorship, only a simulacrum of democracy, intolerance and what not, it is my opinion that the sole thing to take down Pakistan will end up being religious extremism, fanaticism and fundamentalism.

I whole heartedly agree.

Sick of seeing Mullahs demanding killing of every second individual due to frivolous issues. "Hum aag laga dengy, woh kar dengy, ye kar dengy, mulk band kar dengy".

So are youngsters forced into the TJ by their parents or family?

Or do they succumb to peer pressure by their friends?

This looks like an old video

Isn't Dawah a core part of Islam, which is talked about in both the Koran and the Hadith? And if it is then why. as a muslim, would you criticise and mock a group simply for doing what god has instructed them to do?

Thing is first they say there is no compulsion in Islam but then do everything to convert or further brainwash others as most of the Mullahs doing the "gasht" don't know much about religion anyway and just regurgitate whatever pseudo religious propaganda that was fed to them.

So soon we'll see a fully bearded, suposedly enlightened and Arab like Amir. This is what I despise about Muslim's in particular Pakistanis today. Being a good Muslim has become synonymous with Arabism, it's ridiculous.

Do you think he is always wrong? How is he using pseudo religion, can you prove it?

Isn’t it sunnah to grow a beard? I read this on this board on an islamic thread.

Let us worry about farz first. Mostly Muslim's don't even complete farz yet worry about the sunnah. The speech by Naseeruddin Shah in "Khuda Ke Liye" comes to mind.

Lol, the questions were related to TJ, not Mughal :D

Tableeghi Jamaat is not one man. Jamaat means a gathering or group and Tableegh basically means to inform but in this case it is about Dawah or getting the word of God to everyone. It is mostly just performed by the over zealous, inferiority complex suffering Desi Muslims as most of the Arabs don't give two hoots about it.

Haha much to your surprise TJ is a movement started in Indian state of UP by some Deobandi scholars in the 1930s, no Arab takes TJ seriously basically non existent outside of Indo-Pak.

Doesn't matter where it started. Point I am making is that most Muslim's today can't tell the difference between Islam and Arabism. Islam has been restricted to a costume drama and competition.

This is why there is no hope for Pakistan, TJ is a bigger problem then climate change.

The authorities can always address it if it's such a big issue, although as long as they aren't breaking any laws, it's difficult to see what can be done about religious preaching. They do it in England as well, but the state doesn't really bother about them as long as they aren't disturbing the general public.

They don't give dawah in the right way. You can't force someone to take on a religion.

Look at Shehzad's "dawah" to Dilshan. The absolute oppoisite of how you're supposed to.

Lol TJ is also the initials for Tariq Jameel, so it refers to both him and his organization.

Yes it is. I personally dont like their methods. Once a group of around 15 knocked on my door, as I was free I thought I'd have a chat to them but didnt have seating for 15 people inside and seemed odd so many standing outside. So I asked them if they would be at the mosque to which they replied yes but only this particular mosque. I told them I go to any Sunni mosque and I didn't believe in secterian divide so I wouldn't be going to their mosque. They were fine and simply moved on. They dont actually care too much if people join them or follow their ways as long as they have done their bit.

I've also had visits from Jehova's witnesses and from other Christians.

Amir like Moyo continues to peform well as he did today in the super over. Too many moan about them for no reason.

TJ are pests

Tariq jameel loves to surround himself with celebrities to make himself feel better i guess?

And they use these famous people to rope in unsuspecting young kids to their fold

Some of my extended family members are huge on this and I unfortunately spent a lot of time of my teenage years in company of these creeps. I was always given the bribe of getting the chance to meet cricketers since this was around the time when the whole damn cricket team was in Tariq Jamil's pocket.

I got to meet Afridi, Inzi and MoYo a few times (Afridi btw has very sharp memory - remembered my name and which school i studied in) and practically was on first name basis with Saeed Anwar. However I was just 14-15 and didnt know any better of how the group destroys our society.

TJ come across as very sweet but have a knife hidden behind their back and have snakes in their aasteen. Only redeeming quality is that as a group they do not have a violent extremist mindset

what do they do to go to prison?

for eg i wouldnt say Tariq Jameel or some other molvis with fan following have done anything worthy of being sent to jail regardless of the fact that i think tmany of them are conning everyone

What are you talking about? They have many ready brainwashed volunteers to do their bidding when and if required. They are smart unlike the Jihadi and overtly political religious groups and do not advertise their intentions but I personally know a couple of their brainwashed followers who did their bidding from behind the scenes.

They dont talk about Jihad, other Islamic scholars have criticesed them for this, I remember one Maulana saying something along the lines do these people think Islam was spread by doing Gasht lol.

They have their five or 6 points or whatever can't remember exactly as I haven't been with them on jamat for a few years and that's all they talk about.

Funniest part of going on the Tableeghi retreats is when at the end of every talk this one dude pulls out his notebook and pencil and starts asking how many days are you ready for, even those who don't want to go just lie and say I will go for 3 or 40 days lol.

The Tableegh and Christian missionaries hate to be challenged. I often turn the tables on both of them. Ask the tableegh about Allah's commands like rizq-e-halaal and they'll do a runner. Question the Christians on what bible is true, it's origin and the trinity as well. They will tell you of visiting again, that visit will never be forthcoming.

I remember my friends dad (Kurdish Atheist) used to let these guys in when they knocked on his door. Then he would sit them down and casually bring out a bottle of whiskey and start drinking while listening to them. Man he was a character.

Some people do get upset at criticism on tableeghi Jamaat and i can understand why because they are supposed to be doing a service to Islam BUT

My biggest criticism on them is a very NEGATIVE message they spread which is "This world is NOTHING".

I was told my study will give me NOTHING and is useless when i was going to University by these people.

I was told that sports we play is waste of time and we should spend time on ibaadat.

Now i call this negative message because it gives you impression that everything you do in life except ibaadat is complete waste of time. Same thing could be said differently "Every bit you do in life is important but don't forget you will die one day and will be answerable for your deeds".

Same message which is spread totally differently!

But i know of really educated and rich people that follow these preachers.

I really doubt educated(it depends what do you mean by educated), rich yes, many rich people are religious, specially when money comes from hanky panky ways ;-)

Amir is already not fit, TJ is worst place for atheletes, they have bad eating habits, most of them are fat, their focus is wrong, worry about next world and don't do much in this world. Look at all ex-TJ players, Saeed Anwar, Inzi, MoYo, Junaid(who also went down with his fitness and looks) they went down the fitness further after joining TJ, career of MoYo was cut by 4/5 years, where as YK extended it for a decade. TJ has played its part in making every nook and corner of society lazy, there is nothing good ever come out from them

lmao you are relaying my childhood

i legit have had to, on occasions, avoid going for asr, maghreb namaaz as a teen on weekends to avoid making the iraada

they do serve some good, piping hot biryani though

that much is guaranteed at every event

Disgusting Post, next you will say that Atheism promotes Athleticism and a more fitter society.

Their favorite line to convince university students to go on Chilla was invoking the guilt card

"You are ready to spend 4 years for university, but cannot spare 3/40 days for Allah?!" (by going to Chilla)

seeing this make so sad that Muslims decay so much in knowledge

btw do you know a Muslim in USSR was one of the founded of soviet union space program
his name was Kerim Kerimov who was one of the lead architects behind the string of Soviet successes that stunned the world from the late 1950s – from the launch of the first satellite, the Sputnik 1 in 1957, and the first human spaceflight, Yuri Gagarin's 108-minute trip around the globe aboard the Vostok 1 in 1961,

Mostly it's sexual harassment and abuse of gullible female followers.
In some cases murder as well.

I suppose it's like random cold calling. Imagine that you're going about your regular day - at a computer at work, or chomping on a sandwich and you get a call and the person at the other end reads off a script pleading that you buy life insurance?

Irritating to put it mildly.

Brings back some memories :)). However my father used to take to a Sharjah masjid which was the TJ center every last Thursday of the month and we stayed there till Saturday night, well he and my brother did anyway as I used to run away and chill at a nearby friends place till Saturday evening.

Another excruciating experience was when my mother enrolled me to this madrassah, but it was mostly for the Shiekhs (and their relatives, very good acquaintances) children in a huge farm house in Hatta. I was totally against it even they used to lure the children with an olypic size swimming pool, horse riding etc.

The program was as follows
Wake up for Fajr, pray and then read the Quran till around 8.
Have breakfast and then read the Quran, till noon.
Swim for one hour then Zuhr prayers and then lunch.
Sleep for one hour and again Quran till Asr.
After Asr Quran again for an hour till it got a bit cooler and then an hour of horse riding till Maghrib
Pray Maghrib and then Quran till Isha.
After Isha dinner, then another hour of Quran and then bed.

Ofcourse this was like Hell to me and just thinking about the fact that the course was for two months almost gave me a nervous breakdown. I ran away twice in the first two weeks although they brought me back because it was a mostly isolated places where you couldn't really hide anywhere. My mother was finally forced to come pick me up by the end of the week.

Another thing I hated after eating at the TJ and while doing Wudu' was seeing the mucus, spit, fragments of food and all sorts of other gross expellants float by me while I did my ablution. :sanga

There was no need to share that and mess up other people's day.

Dude, people believe what they wanna believe anyway regardless of evidence. Inzi was always fat, while Anwar played the best inns for Pak in the Ind match in 2003 WC long after hed grown a beard. I used to have long discussions on this with a lot of atheists on here; jaded, yasir, anakin etc.( haven't seen him for a long time tho) and we'd end exactly where we started. Even on this thread, mant have accused the Molana in the video of being pseudo religious without bringing aby proof :P

I started watching cricket only in the early 2000s and have heard a lot about Saeed Anwar, but seriously was that his best innings? You'd think he'd have done better, even if it was against somebody other than India...

That was the best inns for Pak in said WC, his best was obviously the 194

The Tableegh bores me to death. Their preaching is outdated, all they do is try to instil fear in hearts of believers with their anti-life teachings. There is no divine grace on what they say at all. Most of them make Islam sound so repressive with their "Muslim's versus the rest" attitude, this only creates divisions in the hearts of Muslim people. We are part of the world as well and have to respectfully coexist with people of other faiths. This "holier then thou" attitude does my head in. "I am answerable to Allah not to you" I have often told the Tableegh whenever they approach me. It normally does the trick:tahir2 The tableegh and sother such groups simply want to control people's minds, that is what they're really all about.

Do they ask people to confess sins or stuff like that? Because Islam does not support stuff like that, that's a valid criticism if true

Well to be fair, this holier than thou & cornerning people to come to mosques or asking them belief about their personal question is not just related to TJ. Every islamic group i have encountered has this to some extent.

And this is the number one reason that turns me off from mullahs or religious organizations. I can't submit or assume myself answerable for my niyyah/aamal to anybody no matter how pious they are and most of these organizations are cultist groups really with their own made rules & interpretations of stuff really.
