KARACHI: A video has gone viral on social media in which a foreign woman can be seen dancing on a passenger plane while holding a Pakistani flag.

In the video, a female tourist can be seen doing the famous 'Kiki challenge' inside a Pakistan International Airlines passenger plane.

Shortly after the video surfaced of the woman dancing inside the plane and on the runway, the PIA presented its stance on the matter.

The PIA spokesman in a statement said that the woman is not related to the national airline and only the video was shared on its official page.

The spokesman said that the video was shot in a plane in the parking and the video has now been removed from the page.

Meanwhile, the National Accountability Bureau sources said that it is investigating the matter.

The probe authority is also investigating how the woman with the flag reached the runway and the plane.

NAB sources said that strict action will be taken against those defaming the national flag.

Sources added that action will also be taken against the PIA Chief Executive and people concerned.

'I meant only positive things'

Shortly after some backlash, the woman, who called herself Ava, said she was with PIA doing a vlog about travelling to Karachi.

"...someone suggested why not do a 'kiki' challenging. So I though it could be fun way to promote tourism in Pakistan," she explained.

Ava said she got a lot of love and positive comments from Pakistanis in the last few hours

"Some people didn’t quite like it...And if that’s the case I do apologise, I meant only positive things. And I will continue to promote make it my mission to promote Pakistan tourism," she added.

I've seen her vlogs on Youtube, she thinks and speaks very highly of the country.

One of the best Kiki challenges I've seen.

Don't get the uproar about this.

Why are the institutions hell bent on ruining Pakistan's name, she spends all her time promoting Pakistan saying how safe and beautiful it is and then this happens..

Why is NAB involved? PIA has been used as a cow by the criminal elite for decades and not a single person prosecuted but some dance and they become interested. I am really confused.

This is a non-issue.

On another not,the KiKi challenge itself is lame.

A day after the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) took notice of a suspected promotional video featuring a Polish tourist dancing in and around a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) aircraft ─ allegedly made by the airline ─ the national flag carrier denied any involvement in the incident.

A video showing Polish tourist and travel blogger Eva Bianka Zubeck performing the popular 'Kiki Challenge' in and outside a PIA aircraft went viral on social media on Monday.

The NAB took notice of the video as it believed that the woman had not only disgraced the national flag by wrapping it around her body but also violated the security codes of national airlines and the airport.

"We want to know who allowed the woman to go into an empty aircraft and dance at the airport," the NAB spokesman earlier told Dawn, adding that the watchdog would send an official letter to PIA on Aug 15 seeking the management's point of view on the issue.

"We want to ascertain that who had permitted the women to freely move into a highly-secured runway of the airport," he said.

NAB also ordered probe against PIA for allegedly disgracing the flag and misuse of authority, and against those who had allowed the woman to enter the runway and the plane.

The issue escalated quickly ─ so much so that Zubeck had to issue a clarification within hours of posting the video

What the h--ck, she is just celebrating independence day of Pakistan in her own style, and I like that. What's the problem here, don'e get it.

Non issue. Dont repel people who are helping your countrie's image. Who are these babas in NAB?

Has NAB got the Pakistan's money back from the looters of PML-N and PPP? Why not concentrate on doing your job?

OMG as if we don't have enough issues in country already

Investigation of Kiki challenge. What a meme :yk

Couldn't have said it better myself. In another thread a Hindu women got tortured, no media reports, yet here we are getting triggered to a woman dancing.

Plus how is it disrespecting the national flag? Its just wrapped around her body I've seen multiple Pakistani cricketers do it. The real disrespect to the flag is the day after 14th august where the streets are filled with flags scattered all over.

What is the big deal about this? She was actually doing a promotion with PIA, that's why she's in the plane.

I've followed her a bit, and she really gives Pakistan a lot of regard, and what she's doing is really softening Pakistan's image.

I also don't see what was so disrespectful about her Kiki challenge with the flag draped. A total non issue, what a way to scare tourists, who are doing good for the country, away.

What has nab got to do with it they are only supposed to go after corruption. If FIA had investigated this I would understand this report probably is just a rumor. Or a takdi Nab guy likes her so is investigating her to meet her :runaway:

ISLAMABAD: Expressing her love for Pakistan, Polish travel blogger Eva zu Beck, who stirred the ‘Kiki Challenge’ controversy in a PIA simulatorrecently, announced her decision to launch the world’s first interactive travel show for Pakistan combining social media, TV, live content, written words and on the ground activities.

Ms Beck announced the launch of her new venture at the National Press Club on Saturday. She said it was her passion to promote tourism in Pakistan and fight misrepresentation of the country in the social media.

“Nearly 40pc of travellers take the idea of their destinations through social media. We find Pakistan totally missing in that space.”

It is my passion to promote tourism and fight misrepresentation of the country on social media, Eva zu Beck says

She also identified challenges faced by Pakistan’s tourism sector which included lack of tourist friendly infrastructure and limited information about transport, hotels, guesthouses etc.

She said her initiative might lead to the availability of such information.

She said the mission of the show would be to transform how international travellers think about Pakistan and create a positive and long-lasting change to the local tourism industry.

“It is high time we establish Pakistan as a destination for travellers looking to experience the perfect combination of nature and culture in a single setting,” said Ms Beck.

“The big question that nobody is asking is how we can develop the local tourism industry in responsible and environment friendly ways?”

She said in attracting more attention to Pakistan as a tourism hub, the travel show would work with local organisations to expand the current tourism infrastructure and ensure responsible growth.

“In addition to promoting tourism in Pakistan at the international level, this programme will showcase the creativity and media innovation coming out of the country’s young generation. At the heart of the undertaking will be collaboration with local talent and foreign influencers,” she added.

Ms Beck attracted criticism from local authorities while trying to promote Pakistan’s soft image through her strong social media outreach on Independence Day.

She recorded a PIA “Kiki Challenge” video that was featured across all the major media outlets. But the chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) sensed some corruption case in the matter and took notice of the video.

Ms Beck at the press conference said she did not receive any written notice from NAB.

“I know about the notice as much as you all know about it,” she said, adding she was blogging about Karachi when she was contacted by the PIA marketing team to work on this unusual idea.

“It was a training plane parked in a covered training area and the challenge was done with all formal permission,” she added. “I received overwhelming positive response from every section of society.”

She said she was overwhelmed by the love and encouragement in Pakistan.

“I came here with a totally different perception. The perception about Pakistan on foreign media is totally opposite of what the reality is,” she added.

The Senate Standing Committee on Aviation recently also discussed the Polish tourist’s video.

Members, including Senator Sherry Rehman, criticised the objections over the matter and wondered what was wrong in the video.

“We should not make it an issue. There was nothing wrong in it and we should not criticise everything. Even she (tourist) does not need to apologise for promoting Pakistan,” said Ms Rehman.

After graduating from the University of Oxford, Ms Beck spent five years developing Culture Trip, a London-based travel media start-up that has five million social media fans and over one billion video views.
