But he's played his fair share of first-class and List A cricket and played in domestic tournaments too.

Maybe its a question of selecting the right people for the right formats? Because there are bowlers who are quite happy to bowl all day in Tests.

To be fair to him he's played 74 first-class matches and always made himself available in that format across the 15 years that he was selected in that format.

At the moment it looks like Pakistan only has a couple of Test pacers, the rest seem to be more suited to 4 overs or 10 overs at a push.

Wasim Akram with similar views as Tanvir in an interview:

"If you get more money for playing only four overs, then this will be an easy decision. Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, and Wasim Jr. should play first-class cricket. Apart from PSL, they must play 1-2 leagues in a year, but also in long format matches. Pay attention; if we had time, we would have played 4-day matches"
