I don’t think Sunny Gavaskar is suggesting that India deserves to be in the WTC finals. Nor do I believe that many Indian fans think we are currently good enough as a side. However, what Sunny seems to be pointing out is that if Pakistan were in a similar situation, they would likely attribute it to a conspiracy. Firstly, I don't think Pakistan lost deliberately.
About this conspiracy thing, Gavaskar shouldn't have said this on air.
Though I will not completely disagree with him as there are fans (on both the sides) who will start speculating about the conspiracy theory.
Remember 2019 WC India vs England, when India lost against England, many Pak supporters on this forum opined that India lost deliberately so that Pakistan won't progress further in the tournament.
So that happens naturally with some fans be it Indians or the Pakistanis.

Yeah but Sunil wouldn't say that to SL or Ban if they became good team and they lose a close match when Ind could be in final if that didn't happened.Pak becoming good enough to be in 3rd or 4th place in table means they are good enough to have a chance to be in final in that hypothetical scenario that Sunny is thinking but Pak is also kinda inconsistent even when they are in their high horse but such is not so common in Ind.So Ind can lose a close match and people can say they intentionally choked.But Sunny hasn't given why he think that the case.He hasn't given the reason for such statement.It could be mean he has a shallow picture of Pak fans or he thinks Ind unlikely to lose in a close encounter with SA.But we don't know

Yes it's good for pakistan to lose in group stage Which Is Their best capabilities like World cup 2023 where they Even lost against Afghanistan.

In 2024 World T20, pakistan was badly humiliated by part timers techies ( USA ) twice within a game . after that they knockout from group stages before crying about USA - Ireland game washout.
