Pakistani captain singing Mauka Mauka with Champions Trophy in hand on his balcony

I've never liked Sarfaraz and never will, but this is not a big deal. He was just having fun with the crowd. Nothing insulting about it. Indians made this ad, and it's now Pakistan's chance to have a go. After a long while. :)

But man, what a huge crowd. I don't know if anyone was there to receive India at the airport when we won in 2013. Pakistan have really been missing an ICC title :)

You have no idea...

Our players actually cop as much as hate when they mess up as they get love when they do something right.

They get bashed all the time for losing to India and (at the time) a jobber side like Bangladesh taking you out 3-0 was the ultimate slap in the face.

This is one of if not the only bright news for Pakistanis so the affection towards the players being this high is understandable.

But yeah I don't see the problem here, he said part of it for like 4 secs, complete non-issue.

Hypocrisy is rearing its ugly head and expectedly so. Had India won the final and Kohli would have joined in the "Baap Baap hota hai" chants, same people who are happy with what Sarfraz did would have been offended, and would have called him immature and what not.

Secondly, let's not make the false equivalency between the Indian media, the fans and the ex-players and Sarfraz. There is a difference; our media, our fans and our ex-players can mock India as much as they want, but it was completely inappropriate for a member of the team and especially the captain to get involved in this stuff. The current Indian players distanced themselves from the antics of folks like Sehwag and Rishi Kapoor, and they were respectful towards Pakistan throughout the tournament.

As captain of Pakistan, Sarfraz should have exhibited more maturity and sense. That was quite poor.

yawn.... you continue to sprout rubbish. Firstly when the orginal baap-beta banter was started by Sehwag he was still a contracted Indian player it was done on a tv show few years back and secondly the mauka mauka ad was produced by Star Sports which is the offical partner of the Indian cricket team it does not get more official then this thirdly Sarfraz hardly initiated the chant and just joined in for couple of seconds to please the excited crowd who have been standing all day in intense heeat during ramadan to see their hero and finally you cant equate baap-beta banter to mauka mauka one is light hearted while the other can hit the sensitivities of the people.

Don't want to sound patronising especially after : humblepie, but this was pretty much the same story in India. Once India started winning more, the extremities in reaction also reduced. The World Cup win probably kick started a more sober take on team performance.

As I had posted earlier somewhere, the way the Indian team has played has also changed. There is more balance to the way they play and so fans kind of know what to expect from them. It has made following the Indian team a little boring (personally speaking) vis-a-vis the 90s and early 2000s.

One more thing that has caused this change is the way the players themselves handle losses. Since Dhoni took over, you hardly see Indian players looking depressed or gloomy after a loss unlike when say, Sachin and Ganguly were around. That rubs off on fans eventually.

Sarfraz can sledge the Indian players as much as he likes, but standing on top of his balcony and dancing to "mauka mauka" while he is being recorded live on national tv is not on. Disappointing behaviour.

It was barely 4 seconds and he wasn't leading the crowd but just responding. I'm sure there was no ill intent, and he just responded in the heat of the moment. From what we have seen of Sarfaraz, he is neither aggressive nor vindictive. I don't see anything wrong with what he did. Had he led the crowd or started the chant, I would've agreed with you but this was just some harmless fun, utterly devoid of malice.

Sorry but why? A team that refuses to play us? A gov that declares us state sponsors of terrorism? A gov that is occupying land illegally? That is committing genocide i. Kashmir. A country who made the mauka mauka thing in the first place? Sehwag and rishi kapoor calling us their sons ( and that means someone who slept with your mother that how you become a father) and sarfraz should be sorry. You guys are like ben carlsons of pakistan self loathig bountys. Good on you Sarfraz

What you wrote above may be right or wrong but Sarfaraz should not have involved himself in these stuffs. What if Kohli had given baap and beta like comments after they defeated us?
And former Indian players and actors indulging in these stuff is not comparable to Sarfaraz indulging in these things. No one from Indian team said anything negative about Pak.

TalhaSyed am like George Foreman, riled up the opposition did all the burying on the microphone; come fight night completely written off, got the KO became oldest world HW champ ever decades after losing it to Ali and then knelt in prayer as the world screamed IT HAPPENED!

:pakflag2

Its great to see the skipper enjoying with his fans :))

what is this mauka mauka thing? are you talking about urdu word mouqa?

First of all, before I answer, tell me something honestly Mr "I Hope Sri Lanka Beat Pakistan in a virtual QF of the Champions Trophy" or should I say Mr "Hassan Ali will fail against India in the Final of the Champions Trophy" - are you genuinely unable to process and understand what this thread/video is about or are you just trying to be an obnoxious smart alec about the transliteration of a word?

:inzi

:)) Great stuff, in this moment all I want to do is thank the higher power. We are the champions, everything else don't mean anything at those who have been surprised by the Bear's recent humble nature with regards to the enemy :akhtar

I always knew that the Bear had this inner humbleness and was unable to troll a man when he is down :amla

Sarfaraz didnt say anything bad either. He just quoted the public with the chants which were made to taunt us by the Indian themselves. It isnt something that we created like the "baap beta" ones and there is a lot of difference between mauka mauka and baap beta commends

Ah man nice try.

I do agree with the part in bold - but the rest is just patronising BS.

For a nation which you are trying to portray as doesn't really care too much about the teams performance in the CT since they have won SO MANY ICC events recently (2 events since 2009 which is the same record as Pakistan btw...), they do seem quite annoyed by their teams defeat in the final

Security beefed up at MS Dhoni’s residence after India’s loss against Pakistan
http://indianexpress.com/article/sp...e-after-indias-loss-against-pakistan-4710683/

I had 3 or 4 other video links as well from other parts of India which I'm sure you can view on YouTube, however, we are limited to 2 videos/post on the forum so this will have to do for now.

:msd

In all seriousness - IN MY OPINION it's simple:

1) Be respectful in defeat - which Kohli and the rest of the Indian team have done very very well

2) Be humble in victory - which I feel Sarfraz and the team have done very very well and which is evident by the way the players from both teams were getting along after the Final in London. Sarfraz singing Mauka Mauka here for 3 seconds with his fans does not change that

3) Do not get personal with your comments - the current players in both teams have done this very well, however, some ex-players on both sides of the border have been disgraceful in this aspect. Lets be crystal clear about one thing - singing a song which was created to mock/humour you in the first place CAN NOT be compared to comments made about your father.

4) Be respectful of the other team. Again - I feel that both current teams have done this very well, however the media and the ex-players on both sides of the border have at times left much to be desired in this aspect

So the official life span of mauka is from 92- 2017. Fun while it lasted. Ad agencies will now have to think of new ads. Work for everyone.

i watch enough of both media ok so dnt even compare.Yes indian media says this normally or indians particularly believe india is the father of pakistan .i dnt think this mentality thing is going to change easily for indians for long time for sure. . but i have never communal comments man from anyone. sehwag didnt post a video to abuse pakistan, islam and family okk.It was funny banter according to sehwag between indians commentators in indian channel ,Which i think he was wrong. i dnt support. but still it wasnot that big issue.rishi kapoor has been interviewed by kamran ypur news anchor recently .And he has clarified. rishi has many times support pakistan and he is also known as shrabi .
Second virat and this indian team always appreciated or supported pakistani talent . Virat support for pakistan is always well known. And what this joker sarfraz is doing will not go well with other team as well . Fans are like fans. But sarfraz shud be responsible one.

akki relax mate ... all the support you talk about has been reciprocated and then some! pakistan team has show n support to the indian team ... i think there is a cultural thing here i have lived with indian and calling someone baap of somethign is slang for them ... as in to say i am the big boss in pakistan it is taken much more seriously .. and hence you don't understand the difference and no sehwag wasn't innocent to this he has done this before when it came to shoaib akhtar .. and it was made clear how such things are offensive ... so it was a pretty deliberate attempt at insulting and ridiculing the country and its people .. the mauka mauka ad brought in kashmir and showed pakistani fan to be a faint hearted scared chicken depicting pakistan and pakistanis to be that so who was politicizing it? and kambli? don't even get me started on kambli and shastri and this is not your normal hosts that are beating the chest and ramming the war drums these are your cricket stars i don't even want to scoop to the level of the indian anchors so won't even start there but go youtube some clips... i mean i can go on but you have made up your biased mind and won't change ... i expect better from posters on this forum ... let me conclude the media and fans you saw was mostly retaliatory ... mauka muaka ads were disgustingly targeting things that we hold dear and sensitive ... calling yourself someone's father to us is pretty serious an abuse to fight over ...

you dont believe in kaala teeka?

As I said, please pinpoint the incidents where the current Indian players have been disrespectful towards the Pakistani players or Pakistan in general. People like Gambhir have been hostile in the past, but none of the current players have exhibited such traits.

Isolated incidents of sledging etc. such as Kohli giving Ajmal a send-off has nothing to do with the Pakistani player or Pakistan; it is what happens on the field between all the teams. Sarfraz can sledge the Indian players as much as he likes, but standing on top of his balcony and dancing to "mauka mauka" while he is being recorded live on national tv is not on. Disappointing behaviour.

I guess we agree to disagree. For you, it's disappointing and for me, it's just fun and games. I see nothing disrespectful in what Sarfraz has done here. It's just the fact that you are trying to make something out of nothing bothers me and a lot of people here. And not just you, there are quite a few people here are trying the same.

As far as incidents go, I remember quite a few times Kohli dropping 'F' bombs on players when his team gets someone out. Oh and yeah how can we forget the finger incident. That was very classy I believe. Let's just not open the can of worms here. Let's just admit this was just fun and games. I am sure players have a lot of respect for each other and have shown that on occasions as well. Let's not make this into something it's not. This definitely was not disrespectful and disappointing.

Tremendous post and an eye opener.

An answer to all The Indian fans who have got their knickers in a twist.

I agree - the reaction in those videos and news article is very sad. It's just a game. The fact that extra security is required at players houses is ridiculous.

Check out Post #94

The original poster has basically already admitted to being a patronising troll so don't bother wasting your time :)

It does not suit a captain of an international team to behave in such a childish way.Kohli did not say anything negative about our side after India thrashed us in the group match.Pathetic from Sarfaraz.

BS, say it on your own: it is just light banter they said, only joking they said, we are only having fun they said...well, now we whuupp the behinds in the best and biggest way possible of Number 1 team (so-called) and we can also have the banter, joking, and fun as well!

You think i am lying. i usually watch pakistani punjabi comedy shows and thus come across some of your news bulletins as well. I watched enough of your shows .Even can name all the shows ypu want. Rishi kapoor has clarified what he did say and why he say.Watch his interview in your channel with kamraan news anchor i suppose. sehwag also didnt say to that extent what latif said to him or what other news anchors said to india or hindus, forget sehwag
Kohli and this indian team always supported pakistan .i even remember dhoni said in conference consoling pakistanis after defeat by india in world cup that head to head pakistan recoed is great. Some day pakistan will beat india here as well. And look at what afridi said hindustnis ka dil bda ni hota.. sohail tanvir who earned bread and butter in india after ipl said hindus ka dil chotta hota hai. aamir sohail, rashid latif, miadad.....i can give you thousand of examples out of ypur small population of small country comparative to india which is probably 6 times larger.

Jall gayaay Burnol Lgao, baaki sab theek hai bhai!

Kohli is a top ODI batsman.According to your logic,he should be making fun of Pakistan team all the time.

BS, and you know it!

When they do it, oh it is just fun, light banter, jokes etc.

Our captain does it for merely a few seconds, UN should be asked to look in to these grave and hienous crimes. Then you wonder why most PP thinks where you belong to?

Come again, what does him being Number 1 batsman have anything to do with this argument?

When the shoe is on your foot, you are crying like a little Beta/Pota?

I'll send you a quarter, go call someone who cares for your silly logic!

Mauka mauka was funny when India did it .I as a Pakistani enjoyed it. I am enjoying it even more when we are giving it back .Learn to take a joke Indian fans!

Indian fans, grow a pair or two or bunch, until and unless you can beat us in such a pressure and big stage game, with such a huge margin...you will be rubbed this way, from time to time!

Don't like it, you can always decide not to say anything or not read what is being said or watch it, EO!

Beta comments were made by Sehwag, not Kohli or any other player currently playing in the Indian.
My point is simple:Safaraz, being the captain and team member, should not have indulged in these things.

Another poster asked as well, how do you know Sarfraz was making fun of Kohli or India and not towards those people who made the ads and the ones who shared them and thought they were really funny?

Why is it not funny when the shoe is on their foot now?

Untill or unless ypu beat us in world cup which is the real cup.Nobody is going to give a damm. Champions trophy is not going to be there next time. its going to be scrapped next time. World cup over champions trophy any day of the week. Between india also has won 2 champions trophy .Hardly matters.

Even better, no way for India to come back and get the cup back LOL #NoMauka-NoMauka HaHaHa

And if you think this Pak team cannot replicate this win (maybe not the same magnitude or who knows) in a WC as well, you must wait and watch just 2 years :-P

I think this is kind of needed. A harsh reality check for team India. Dhoni started a culture which was a bit push over. Looks good on TV but seriously, you lose your credibility.

More than these, that Ian bell recall incident did hurt more. That was a big slap. Loosing of dignity.

What Sarafaraz did was just Banter.

burnol ka stock hi sara tumhre pas hi. Abhi aadat ni hai yaha ,isbar haare hi...krdena chal thda paas..yaha milta ni kisi ke pas.

As an Indian, learn to come up with some original stuff, copying others ideas is an Indian National duty, I do know that but from time to time, do try new jokes:yk2

Lol bacho wali baaten...wapis ni aayega cup. India gave it to you at last to play with it always now bache ,it wont be used next time now.
If you think india cant replicate the performance of this champions trophy league match then you must wait for just 2 years. I can bet my bottom dollar now ,we wont get beaten by you in next world cup.its called law of average we got beaten after winning so many matches ,sometimes it happens. Unfortunately it took the worst day of final.

Here it is for the moral police and all others crying a murder, this is for you all:

Sarfraz said "The people had been sitting and waiting for me since a long time and it was very hot, the people asked me to sing mauka so I did it for them, we won against India after a long time so this was their way to express their happiness"

Jalnaay ki buu yahan tak aa rahi hai, koi baat nahin, we will be gentle next time

Or Maybe Not LOL

Wow this is getting sad now! well lets conclude it this way ... we most of the pp posters atleast appreciate good cricket and indian team most of the time .. the rhetoric indian media and past players and celebs used before the match generated the response it did ... let's just move on and hope for a good intense rivalry ...

:P le lo bhai maze, waise CT me there is no concept of Mauka Mauka as we lost to PK before as well

lol at people who are getting offended with this harmless video.

Like if this offends in you some manner, I just can't imagine how such guys manage to handle any kind of banter with your friends or family in real life.

Some people are looking for "mauka" to appear smarter than their fellow countrymen, better human than person next to them. It is almost Dhoka Dhoka

True. If this offends someone(Indian or Pakistani) then surely it is very hard for them to survive in this world. They need help.

We need to produce our own songs. Enough of imitating what they are doing, make another original tune Pakistanio!

Some good stuff that day - probably the most memorable of our cricketing history after WC1992, WT20 2009
