[VIDEO/PICS] Mohammad Amir's performance watch for Gloucestershire in 2022

Mohammad Amir will also sit out of the match v Somerset due to a tight hamstring. He requires a period of rest after being away from red ball cricket for a number of years and bowling a large amount of overs in a short space of time since joining Gloucestershire. The Club is exploring the potential to play Amir in the two County Championship matches in June v Kent and Lancashire.

Penny seems to have dropped for Gloucs but one seriously needs to question their thought process when they brought Amir in knowing fully well that he had not played FC for many months!

Think Amir should call it a quit from red ball cricket. He dont have the fitness nor interest for that format. Its better to focus on ODI/T20s and look to represent Pakistan in 2023 WC. That should be his goal.

He won't represent Pakistan anytime soon whilst Ramiz is around its best for him to play county cricket and various t20 leagues so he can earn money.

And he's back!

Mohammad Amir to return for T20 Blast
16 June 2022

Gloucestershire is pleased to announce that former Pakistan International bowler Mohammad Amir is to return to BS7.

The 30-year-old left-arm pace bowler will be available for selection for The Shire’s remaining T20 Vitality Blast matches and comes in as a replacement for fellow countryman Naseem Shah.

Amir is no stranger to T20 cricket having made 50 T20 appearances for Pakistan taking 59 wickets. He recently played for Galle Gladiators in the Lanka Premier League in Sri Lanka where he made six appearances and helped the side reach the final.

Steve Snell, Gloucestershire Cricket Performance Director, said: “We’re delighted to welcome back Mohammad to the squad. He’s a proven international performer and to have his experience available to us for the remainder of the Blast tournament will be invaluable. He has spent a lot of time with us this season and he knows the environment well, so for him to join us at this time will greatly help as we look to kick on for the second half of the T20 Blast campaign.”

The Club is awaiting clearance for Mohammad to play from the Pakistan Cricket Board, but this is expected imminently.

Is there any argument to suggest PCB shouldn't grant him a NOC? He has removed himself from the national side, he doesn't bother to play domestic, so why should PCB do him any favours?

He is history. International cricket is over for this cheat. No one remembers him at all despite his efforts to remain relevant.

He will still be a hot sell in IPL if he manages British citizenship. He has good friendship with Kohli and pther Indian players. They will lobby for him.

He's retired so why is he asking PCB for an NOC in the first place?

Even if he gains British citizenship it can't be ignored that he is a former Pak international. Despite his friendships he won't be picked by any side. The BJP/RSS stooges in the IPL are too strong. I have no problem with that at all.

Amir should not play IPL for his own sake.

They think very highly of him in India. One season at IPL (or half season) and Indians will know he is not what he used to be against them and certainly nowhere near how he is in their heads. He is now a hack who is living off his God given talent and past reputation without any semblance of hard work or passion

Glos have named to same squad that will travel to face Somerset this evening with Pakistan bowler Mohammad Amir looking to make an impression in front of the home fans at the Seat Unique Stadium.

The visitors sit in 8th position having won two, lost five and a no result from their game against Surrey. The Cardiff based side don’t have a game this evening, so will remain on five points heading to BS7 on Saturday.

The decision will be taken out of his hands when no one will be bidding for a has-been. Naturally he won't have the same desire he did when playing for the national side. His peak years were too short to say the least. Like Asif and Butt no one cares about him anymore.

He is trundling in, certainly nothing like anywhere close to his peak. Even in 2018-19 he was running in harder.

The skill might be there but with the pace gone he'd be cannon fodder at international level.

Match reduced to 11 overs per side due to rain

but raining again now.

Gets a crucial wicket tonight for Kent.

Sam Billings.

Man what could have been, he should have ended up with 300+ wickets in Tests and 200+ wickets in ODI's I will never understand why they dropped him.

2 for 31 tonight from 4 overs including the big wicket of James Vince.

Mohammad Amir in the 3 T20 Blast matches he has played this season for Gloucestershire:

4-0-31-2 (10 dot balls)
4-0-30-2 (9 dot balls)
4-1-25-2 (13 dot balls)

^Amir seems like is motivated to make an T20 comeback for Pakistan.

If in full swing he would add more value than Hassan Ali.

Reckons he will be out for a week with a side strain injury.
