In what appeared a gesture of goodwill and brotherhood, Iranian nation is sharing Pakistan Independence Day celebrations through a pro-Pakistan campaign across their country and in their spiritual capital city Mashhad in particular where 242 screens broadcast Iranian greetings to commemorate the epoch-making 14th August of 1947 when Pakistan came into being.

Iranian news agency ‘Tasnim News’ has introduced this unique idea under which big screens installed in Mashhad city, including those 242 screens installed at Metro Train stations are advertising public messages of greetings after every three minutes round the clock. This 10-day campaign that continues today, has attracted Iranians attention to Pakistan Independence Day.

Iranians are told through this message that Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution and Iran’s head of state Grand Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei too respects Pakistani nation in high esteem. Iranians and their revolutionary leadership lauds Pakistani nation for their unwavering support to Iran and their revolutionary zeal and steadfastness against the global imperialistic powers.
The billboards are also displaying Iranians greetings for Pakistan. The flexes on display has an image of founder of Pakistan and father of Pakistani nation Mohammad Ali Jinnah and Supreme Leader Grand Ayatollah Khamenei. Iranians greet Pakistanis, saying ‘Saalrooz-e-Isteghlal-e-Pakistan Mubarakbaad’ that means in Urdu Pakistan ki Azadi Ki Salgirah Mubarak ho.

I recall according to many reports some ten years back by India and America there would be no Pakistan by 2015! This celebration is a proper slap on those who believed and propagated this theory. I have full faith that Pakistan is going places, insha Allah. After each hardship there comes ease and we have been through very hard times. I have no problems with the Iranians at all understanding that they have there interests like we do ours as long as they don't support terrorism against us all is good. I am looking forward to what IK does in his initial days after being appointed PM.

Ayatollah Khamenei always had a soft spot for Pak, many speeches/articles on the faith of Pakistanis, "Iqbal Lahori", etc but it hasn't been exploited by Pak officials because of the pro-Saudi angle (ofc we should have good relations with both Iran and Saudi Arabia.)

dont know yet, but king salman of KSA phone called IK twice in two days of time. something is going on behind the doors.

We need to play both sides to get the best economic benefit. Things to consider are whoever can provide us with the cheapest oil. I also read somewhere that due to sanctions American and European shipping carriers cannot dock in Iran. We can offer Gwadar port as an option to Iran, and allow them to do their imports/exports through there for a fees. Gwadar is only an hour away from Iran border.

Also no matter how "chummy" these Iranians and Saudis become with us, they can never be our friends. They have their own motives and won't come to our aid when we need them. Pakistan's only friends are China and Turkey.

I'm always apprehensive when "brotherly" countries like Iran and Saudi try to be too friendly.

they already offer us thier chabahar port.

offcourse every country ha their own interest first.

Cringeworthy and doesn’t seem sincere. Why would non Pakistanis celebrate Pakistan’s independence day? Ever since new government got elected all these countries are sending friendly messages. It would have been a different thing if it was few individuals but when huge amount people celebrate in an organized way you know they are trying to flatter Pakistan for some reason.

China doesn't care about us either, they only have strategic and economic interest. We share nothing in common with Chinese people. Nothing binds us.

China have major interests in Pakistan, just like the rest we are "friends" with them due to common interests and they'll be the first to dump us when its lost. However I do consider Turkey our most trustable allies or "friends"

What is the motive behind this?

It seems that there is genuine belief that new government will start a fresh page which is why even Saudis are turning on the charm.

I do agree with you in half. Only Turks are out real genuine friends. Don't know exactly why but in all my experiences only the Turkish seem to genuinely want well for Pakistan for no ulterior motive

That doesn't seem to be true. Iranians and Indians have traditionally been allies.

Except in the '65 war when Iran supported Pakistan in every way and got ****** when Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire or when it comes to Kashmir and the Ayatollah always talks about Kashmiri freedom in his friday sermons, some ally lol.

I think the Iranians don't like India supporting rebels in the Balochistan region.

It's been more than 50 years since '65 happened. Ayatollah is a theocratic head , he is expected to say those things.

Enemies don't let build a strategic port on their own soil.

Of all the suspicion and hate we get from our neighbors and the media, feels nice to get some appreciation as a country. Instead of questioning the motive just enjoy the moment, today is yaoum-e-azaadi. We criticize, mourn and frustrate over the many many problems in Pakistan 364 days a year, so just take the remaining day to celebrate the existence and the blood sweat and tears it took for not only our independence but the fact that we still stand as a country despite so much going against us.

It’s been a good year because we got rid of some major cronies, gave a chance to a new PM and are slowly beginning to crack down on big issues.

Days, months and years later we will have even bigger victories Insh Allah.

I would trust Iran more than Saud family's private club that is Saudi Arabia.

I guess you guys missed in these celebration pics Iran showed full Kashmir as part of Pakistan map. India is not going to be happy.

Now that's interesting.

I know that Khamenei sahab openly talks about the suffering of the Kashmiri people living under Indian occupation, and includes them in his "prayers for Muslims suffering all around the world". However, Iran's foreign policy is a bit more complicated because they don't want to upset India too much.

Pakistan should be close to Iran and Turkey, they've historically been seats of power for far longer than the Saudis and are much closer to Russia. The Saudi Royals are untrustworthy people

When it comes to nations there are no "friends", just mutual benefits. Can't believe people are saying Turkey, Iran etc are our friends. It is hard enough to get people from different provinces, neighborhoods, tribes, sects etc in the same country to be amicable to each other, never mind different countries, cultures, etc. Watch the Turks, Iranian, Saudis etc run for cover when push comes to shove. Height of naivety.

Why are Turkey and Pakistan considered tight friends?

What developments between these two have I missed, that suggests they are strategic allies of some sort?

if i am not wrong, when we were facing the weapons shortage in 65/71 war, turkey and Iran both of them supplied the weapons.

Turkey upgraded our 80+ F-16s to the Block 50/52 Standards in last one decade.
