[VIDEO/PICTURES] Zahid Mahmood - Dadu leg-spinner

yasir is practicing in nca and zafar was called back from srilanka even though other team members are there , clearly shows yasir and zafar are in odi side and maybe imad wasim might get selected as allrounder
 
yasir :yshah1 is not a limited overs bowler every knows it so i would have zahid mehmood and mohammad asgher
 
Best t-20 spinner in pakistan isnt in PSL what a shame , he was last name in the draft in emerging category.
 
I have seen him bowl few times and he's even worse than Shadab Khan (I dont rate him)

Maybe due to being from remote area and not having proper coaching at his disposal might have hampered his progress
 
After three years he makes a return to domestic cricket, and is playing for Peshawar. Decent start:

First round FC vs KRL: 0/45 and 2/10

Second round FC vs HBL: 4/59 and 2/16
 
Presumably he is the same Zahid Mehmood invited to PCB's skill camp. Another interesting pick. Would be around 30 years old now.
 
Part of Southern Punjab's squad, and featuring in the FC derby. Politics has kept him out. Good to see him (and others) back.
 
86 wickets in 34 matches and 32 years age. Looks like Misbah doesn't have best interest for our cricket. He wants to establish useless old players to destroy our future.
 
Did pretty well in the National T20 Cup. Regularly picked up wickets and kept the runs down too.

Karachi seemed to forget about him. They could have picked him in supplementary.

PSL Champions Quetta Gladiators pick leggie Zahid in replacement draft

KARACHI: Current PSL Champions Quetta Gladiators have drafted in leg-spinner Zahid Mehmood in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Replacement Draft in place of West Indies all-rounder Keemo Paul, who will be available from March 8

The fifth edition of PSL starts from February 20 with Quetta Gladiators playing the opening match of the event against Islamabad United in Karachi.

Zahid, who hails from Dadu, had a really good National T20 Cup while his overall T20 numbers are impressive as he has taken 35 wickets in 24 T20 matches at an economy-rate of 5.96.

The 31-year-old will further strengthen spin attack of Gladiators who already have Mohammad Nawaz, Fawad Ahmed and youngster Aarish Ali Khan.

Really promising bowler who deserved the chance to play in the T20/ODI side prior to WC19 and must be given a chance before WT20 next year.

There were ODIs against Australia in UAE and in England prior to the WC19.

Yasir Shah was selected for both series. There was no need to include him given we already knew he was not an ODI bowler. I would rather have seen Zahid Mahmood.

Hes good but I would prefer usman qadir or zafar gohar as they can bat azwell and can genuinely spin the ball espically qadir
 
Zahids action is repetitive and that's a good sign. ATM his arm is very high and that makes it difficult to leg spin the ball sharply,If just drops his arm a little by around 10 degrees, he would spin it more sharply and he would go to another level.
 
Great performance from Zahid today for Southern Punjab, got 4/41 helping to bowl Northern out for 165.

He averaged 101 last season. He needs to do a lot more with the bowl to convince us that he can play test cricket
 
A brilliant LOs spinner, should be selected for T20Is initially.

Imo, it's time over for him to make it to the Test team, his FC stats are pretty average.

I think he isnt a long time solution hes already 32 one bad series in international and he will be out we need to build for the world cup

Personally I think 32 isnt too old for a spinner in comparison to a pacer or even a batsman as one needs a lot more overall fitness and other needs reflexes which makes difficult to debut them at that age. He can easily give in 3-4 or more years if he is good to make the side and his fitness is good. However, it will depend upon what kind of combination Pak team is looking for in the next world cup.

Though even if you are a spinner you have to be like really good to make a national debut at 30+, decent wont cut it. Imran Tahir has been a recent example who debuted pretty late and kept on playing till almost 40.

I was impressed the way he was able to deceive some experienced and really good players of spin bowling like Hafeez and Malik on few deliveries. If he can continue the good form than that would be good for him.

He isn't a long term solution but should be given the chance to show what he can do even if it is just for a few years as a stop gap situation. Zahid is a much better bowler than Usman Qadir and I am certain he will outperform him in the QeA.

No, he's got atleast 5-6 years of cricket left in him at top level.

He's in the same category as Imran Tahir & Fawad Ahmed, not saying he's as good as them but they are similar. Brilliant in white ball cricket and though they may have some good performances in FC, they aren't really made for longer formats

Shadab and Imad are confirmed selections for T20 cricket - where does Zahid fit into for the shorter formats? Right now we need a replacement for Imad in ODI (between Zafar Gohar and Zahid) and Yasir Shah in Tests (almost definitely Zafar Gohar).

So I can see why Gohar is being selected.

Meanwhile Usman Qadir is on the T20 bench because bench players should be young.

He wont get a look in the t20s as shadab and imad are garrented starters we may need a replacement for imad once he retires or loses form but that's going to be more than a year yet hence why gohar and and qadir have been preferee as they younger

Let us wait how he bowls in upcoming matches . Today he was bowling 2-3 very good deliveries and 2-3 extremely rubbish hit-me type deliveries per over. But then it could be the debut pressure too , so let us see how he performs in future.

you should not expect anything less hes a wicket taker who goes for runs
 
i feel sorry for this guy. He is a good bowler, but his captain is a mad cow. Goes shoutting to him after every ball and this guy is probably under pressure by hiw own captain.
