According to rumours, Ustad Fateh Ali Khan will exclusively sing the PSL Anthem this season.

Fans eagerly wait for a new anthem every year. A new PSL anthem every year allows Pakistan to promote his musical talent every year and if the anthem is good, catchy it adds to the hype, marketing of the league.

Najam Sethi's philosophy is correct i.e. you have to promote, advertise the league aggressively every year, he increased the marketing budget from $100,000 to $1,000,000 because the last thing he wants is the PSL brand to become stagnant and if you just have one same anthem for every PSL Season it will stagnate the brand as well.

We are 8 seasons in. I doubt fans wait for a song every year. The league and teams should have built up a solid brand by now and if the league can go stagnant by having the same song every year then its on shaky ground.

The best marketing for a sports tournament is the quality of the sport and I think the marketing focus should be on the individual duals between players and the team rivalries rather than the showbiz element.

Unironically Abdullah Shafique is a legit singer, a good voice and also plays the guitar, has done a few covers of Atif Aslam songs.
