[VIDEO] Ramiz Raja’s commentary, post-match presentations, and analysis

Not a word about Elgar's decision from Rameez. Very disappointing.

No, worried about disagreeing with his hosts.

Even Smith was saying the decision was wrong, but not our Rambo.

No research. No thought. No insight.

Agreed. Wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't even know who the captains are of the 2 teams. That's basic stuff anyone involved in cricket should know. Whether you're a fan, journalist, commentator, broadcaster etc. He probably asks his fellow peers behind the scenes the most basic questions as he has that little knowledge. No clue how people think he is a good commentator when he doesn't even know the basic stuff that everyone should know.

Hate people like him, despise me how they make it that far despite such little knowledge.

Seems as though Rambo, Sarfraz & co are theiving a living at the expense of pcb.

Ramiz blabbering again;

"Amir was awesome at the start of his career and was a find for International cricket. He then went through a horrid period and was sidelined for a 'COUPLE' of seasons" :69:

This man has always been there for every Pakistan tour. Everyone knows Amir was out of it for 5 years. Yet this guy chooses to just bring out words off his mouth without thinking.

Best commentator from Pakistan is shoaaib akhtar in Urdu.
His commentary with Indians like harbhajan and sehwag was fun..

English commentators are generally boring my favourite used to be Tony greig and then sidhu along with boycott was fun.. Now a days most are dull. Only fun ones are when ponting, warnie, Waugh etc do commentary..

Ramiz in his post match comments says that he implored the pak team management to play a second 11 against NZ in the T20, ODI and test series and to let the main players arrive in South Africa a month to 6 weeks in advance so that the players could work on acclimatising to the conditions as fast as possible but the team management refused. Then he recommended that if the players cannot arrive in SA early then the batsmen need to practice hard in the nets in the UAE against a wet tennis ball instead but the team batting coach Grant Flower instead of taking the suggestion seriously instead counter questioned him asking him to show him proof of which player in the Pakistani team struggles against the short quick ball but bottomline no work was done.

Ramiz is now openly calling for wholesale changes and is saying that the selectors seriously need to hold Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq accountable.

And then he mentioned that playing bits and pieces all rounders was never going to work in SA and that Pakistan should have persisted and shown faith in Yasir Shah. Only point I disagreed with

Why? Was that series meaningless?

The tour of SA was more important. The players should have made that call. In order to do well in SA, they needed to arrive here much earlier.

Ik in the 1992 world cup arrived in Aus and NZ 2 months in advance and the Pakistani team had extended net sessions and played as much as 8 practice games and only after that the final playing squad of 15-16 was selected.

It is ridiculous to play a second team and disrespect NZ.

If anything, PCB should be blamed for the scheduling but you can not simply just select a second string XI for an important series against a top ranked opponent.

I disagree. International scheduling is jam packed these days. The big 5 frequently rest their main players for the more important series and tours ahead and test their bench strength for tours that are not that important.

Heck India rested Kohli for the Asia Cup and series against Sri Lanka. The players on the bench would have had good exposure against NZ, it would have been like the Pakistani A side vs NZ

You can make a case for playing a weakened team in ODIs/T20Is, but not Tests.

What should have happened was that we should have had the Tests before the LOI series against NZ. Then we could have sent the Test XI earlier to NZ and played the LOI series with the white ball specialists along with the 'A' players like Rizwan etc.

But I honestly don't think Ramiz would have said anything of the sort to the team management at the time. They don't have the authority to make the schedule, and he's just spouting nonsense to come across as smart.

Ramiz is a fool. The commentators were discussing various cricketing topics at Lunch yesterday and one of the topics was the upcoming Test Championship. Ramiz didn't know that the schedule and format had already been agreed upon by the ICC. "Yeah, the ICC should not make it longer than 4-5 months and have all other cricket suspended at the time". What utter nonsense.

Seriously? :)))

We take our T20 ranking too seriously. Our batsmen should have arrived 2-3 weeks early.,agree with ramiz there..,

Thank you PCB for messing up this again.

I agree with you, we should have played a full strength side against NZ and we were right to, they deserve respect, they are hardly minnows are they. But I do think the Tests should have been played first, so the Test specialists could have an extra month or so in South Africa.

Imran Tahir is slippery: Ramiz

He's the first blonde I have come across who was born in Lahore: Ramiz

Great insight, as ever.

Rambo reaching new lows in this series.

Absolutely awful. Even his co-commentators are having to resort to awkward silences.

Name a better commentator in Pakistan who can equal in communication and entertainment.

These broadcasters are too incompetent to do their research when they sign up Ramiz as commentator. It's obvious that the guy is a completely unprofessional. He should be banished to commentating exclusively on T20 cricket, where his brand of patronizing buffoonery is more palatable.

Unjustified criticism of Rameez Raja, Commentary is for entertainment sake and hes the only one representing Pakistan on Foreign tours and cup. His jibe at Imran Tahir for having blonde hair was disgraceful, needs to be more professional.

Ramiz is a legend no matter what people say. His commentary is very entertaining and does not get too serious like Holding does.

Ramiz can be a clown sometimes, but he is still one of the better ones going around. He is the mouth piece of Pak cricket.

Ramiz is the face of Pakistan Cricket and has been active since 1997. He is perhaps the most high profile and in demand commentator ever in Pakistan Cricket, there must be a reason why all the broadcasters continuously rope him in.

Ramiz proved himself to be a "smooth- operator" by avoiding to translate Sarfaraz's comments on live tv.

It is frustrating that someone can keep their job for so long and do as little homework or research as Rameez does. He just wings it but the networks like him because he fits in well with the rest of the boys.

The problem is Pakistan aren't blessed with a lot of great English speaking commentators. Bazid Khan is well informed but speaks with the charisma of a damp rag, Aamer Sohail is similar, Wasim Akram has no idea while Waqar Younis's commentary is okay but not very insightful. So Rambo is the best of an average bunch.

"Its a mouth watering dish tickling your batting buds" : Ramiz

That's the best part about Rameez. He's sassy and it's hilarious. People dont get offended for what he says because he must be fun to be around. He's not extremely biased like some of the SA or Aussie toolbags either. And finally his criticism is fair.

A fine commentator and Pakistan’s finest commentator ever. Witty, sharp and extremely well-spoken.

I bet those who are criticizing him would struggle to string a single accurare sentence on live TV.

Ramiz Raja continuously calling azam a 22 year old kid

This is not the first time, in fact it is the fifth or sixth time in this series. Ramiz has referred to Azam as a young 22 year old kid. Azam is 24. I know its a small thing but surely a commentator should do some basic research.

Now everyone’s going to say that he has a fake age.

But this is normal, ramiz regurarly fumbles this sort of stuff.

Look at graeme smith- I'm sure he has considerably less experience than Ramiz at commentary but even he has some knowledgeable insights to talk about.

Ramiz although is funny, but usually even messes up the basic stuff.

Did he just call someone in the crowd Mexian? What context ?Missed it as I wasn't looking at the screeen

I like him a lot better than Sanjay Manjrekar and Harsha Bhogle etc..

Well spoken, spirited, tactful, pleasant on the ear......although not as insightful as a Gavaskar etc..

The mini mistakes I don't care about

Well said.

Pak's ATG commentator.

What criticism? He barely has an opinion, his modus operandi is to listen to what his co-commentator is saying then agree with it. But his English is pretty decent and he kisses up to everyone, so those who enjoy well pronounced servility will appreciate him.

He gives his insights once ina while but he calls it as he sees it. Bad bowling, poor fielding, pathetic batting etc. Look at SA commies trying to sugar coat everything

With that six that Asif Ali hit in the last over, Rameez Raja called it a 'massive six' despite the fact it just cleared the boundary and was 62 metres long. Clown

Heard that. He even went on to say that Asif is keeping them in the chase when he had barely scored 8 runs at the time.

Forget Babar Zaman, folks...

Presenting.... Fakhar Azam :raja

Lol...this guy should be the commentator in every game. Very folksy, funny and doesn't take anything seriously. Calls out stuff without much bias. " He looks like a Mexican" made me laugh all day

Phillip Salt, rubbing the salt (after his catch to remove de villiers) only this guy can come up with these gems

Rahat to Salt Hatrick ball - Hogg- "Not sure what salt was trying to do their, pat the ball through the covers," Rameez starts giggling to himself then drops another gem ..."Little bit of salt and pepper?"
